Naughty Dog further teases space game?

I like Uncharted. I like TLoU.

I hope ND starts this gen with sci fi space opera. I think they could capture the excitement and mystery of space exploration in a much more enticing and exciting manner than the ME series.
 
I honestly think the next game by ND whether it's Uncharted or new IP will have way bigger level area and less linear than Uncharted 1-3.

Haha, you're getting me all wrong.

I love Uncharted and TLoU. If they're going to do a story driven game, space is a shitty oversaturated setting. Prefer they just do a sequel to one of the amazing set of characters they've already established.

But the idea of a space game where you can actually explore with ND's art/graphics and their superb writing. That' what would justify the setting to me.
 
It'd be amazing if ND has started on another new IP. Uncharted and TLOU are great but built on last-gen roots,. ND has always previously wanted to start a new IP for a new generation.

Crash>Jak>Uncharted/TLOU>???
 
I'd prefer some dirty Wild West sci if to differentiate from the clinical Star Trek style sci fi aesthetic or Starship Troopers aesthetic most games seem to have

I was just about to ask that. Sony bought that building in Silicon Valley and then we saw pictures from ND of the dev kits stacked up on a pallet. I wondered then if ND had a new studio based in Silicon Valley.
 
I gotta say while I like the idea of a space game from Naughty Dog, the Savage Starlight posters art looked cheesy as fuck. I hope it looks nothing like the poster art :P

So, basically ND is doing what they're best at...following trends. I shouldn't be at all surprised if mechs will play a big role in their new IP.
 
Them tackling space would be amazing. I just really hope it's not like Uncharted or The Last of Us. Less linearity with third-rate shooting mechanics, please.

If they're "following trends" then they are a little late to the party. Uncharted is obviously Indiana Jones, the video game, and the first IJ movie came out at the start of the 80s, whereas the first Uncharted came out towards the end of 2007. A little slow on the draw, eh?

Or did you mean The Last of Us, insinuating that it's a zombie game? To that I'd say:

1. They aren't zombies
2. Zombies had their biggest moment in the spotlight between the end of the 60s all the way through the mid 80s.

Or were you talking about Crash, and/or Jak and Daxter? Because I have no idea what the hell to compare those to.

I'm just not following your argument. Are you really arguing that they're cashing in on space's popularity? Space? Because as far as I know, that's never been unpopular since the beginning of cinema (monster movies, Star Trek, Star Wars, etc.) So it's really disingenuous to call that a "trend".
 
I think it's very likely their A team has been working on Uncharted 4 and will move onto a new IP after its completion. Team B is almost certainly already in the early stages of The Last of Us 2.

So you would rather have them making a game about a grandma knitting a shirt? Of course they'll do what is cool and trendy, what's wrong with that?
 
I would love a sci-fi game in space that is somewhat "down to earth" (yeah, I know). I'm thinking of the aesthetics of Gravity right now, for example.

Whatever it's going to be, I just hope it's not another space-bug hunt with cheap jump scares. And I don't want to discover another ancient alien race either, nor be the chosen one that rescues mankind, again.
 
Who's to say that the alien we see in that picture is the antagonist? Being an alien in a frightened world justifies violence towards the alien and the violence the alien would need to use to protect him/herself. ND have obviously already considered making the violence contextual in TLOU.
 
Don't actually care what the game is about! Knowing that it's by Naughty Dog and on PS4 pretty much means that't it'll be amazing and that I'll play it.
