Yes, it's so absurd that people even utter this shit that both sides are the same. Nearly two decades of having this shit pushed down our throats and now that we are finally getting enough traction and pushback people want to cry about it being too much. Anyone telling you both sides are the same is part of the problem.

The funny part is that when they push "Muh both sides", they indirectly admit that the woke side is bad. In doing that, that gives credibility to the non-woke/anti-woke side and they don't like that. So what do they do? Poison the well, of course!

I think folks are misunderstanding where he's coming from. True, you can get away with a lot of things being said here, but people here are the anti purple forum, they will dogpile on you like no tomorrow. There's just no room for discussion sometimes, it can be exhausting. What's funny is that this is a gaming forum, but most times its just social commentary.

U gotta look at it from logical pov- if u for example defend stupid move of publisher/devstudio, and ppl call that move out and call u out, giving arguments, no1 on here silences/bans u, so u are free to respond, we can see it when for example man_in_boxes can respond in some gaas topics vs 20 ppl at once, he isnt right but he can voice his opinion, present his pov and arguments for it.

Now on rainbow forum if u are against particular ideology being pushed in certain games or voice ur support for games that cater to male audience , mildly even, w/o cursning or personal insults of any kind, u are imediately perma banned, ur post is removed, u get insta-silenced, thats huge difference vs discussions here where all kinds of diverse opinions are allowed and even encouraged

Thats actual tollerance- u dont agree with something/some1 on particular topic, but u are still adult enough to have discussion about it, u tolerate its existence, yes u can post funny meme/gif about it but thats fine
Btw- last defense against ceonzorship(and believe me, i know, i was born and grew up in communist poland) is comedy, comedy allows us to laugh at tabu topics and voice our opinions in a funny way, once even comedy isnt allowed u know dictatorship/totalitarism is in full swing.

Well, okay, I don't know about "equally" bad. But certainly both bad and insanely annoying, I don't care who is worse or who started it - that entire culture war nonsense is kindergarten level mud slinging and I can feel my brain cells dying whenever I witness it.
The entirety of gaming/entertainment was certainly better off before this culture war brain rot and social media took over and absolutely everything is now quickly turned into that fiasco, usually for no good reason at all.

Honestly, OP might be melting like ice cream in the sun, but I definitely get where he's coming from.
The best places left online to discuss gaming and entertainment are those that completely forbid any political discussion because it is simply no longer possible to engage in that without feeling like you are suddenly surrounded by a bunch of toddlers screaming at each other (and sometimes you, because you just happened to be there).

It used to be way more tolerable here, but I guess moderation doesn't want to bother.
For some reason, console warring is a no-go, but turning everything into this culture war clownshow is a-ok.

Its easy to push against Saros, then celebrate its failure. Was not gonna sell a lot anyways.

But then, another game comes with much more heavy handed narrative stuff, and sells 10 million in a week.

I don't care if a woke game succeeded, I care about developer tranparency, the removal of outside influence in the game creating processs and the ability for gamers to voice their grievances without being waved-away by shills and disingenuous ideologues.

This isn't just woke vs anti-woke btw, I remember during the X360/PS3 days when game companies were trying to get away with bullshit monetization and the people who were defending that crap. The $10 EA online-pass, on-disc DLC etc etc

I remember getting banned for 'victim-blaming( or was it victim-shaming, they make shit up) for taking issue to a female survivor of a mass shooting saying 'thank God he spared my life'. Which prompted me to say 'how fortunate for her that God spared her life and not the others who died.' Some months earlier I was actually in a bar that had an incident where 4 people were shot dead and I was about 10 feet away. It took me weeks to get over it as a 'survivor', but would never say something 'oh thank GOD he choose to keep me alive but the 4 people who died, sucks for them I guess.....'

Anyways, banned by some snowflake without word or warning. And they all hide behind their little perches anonymously so you never know who's sniping you.

Heh, I got banned from the purple forum simply for having an opinion different than the echo chamber. I didn't call anyone names, I didn't try to argue with anyone, I didn't disrespect anyone, I simply voiced a differing opinion. In actuality I agree with most of the members over there on like 90% of things. In fact I'd say most members there are decent people, but man the mods sure are something else. No discussion outside the echo chamber is permitted, at all.

It's healthy to discuss viewpoints different than your own. Discussion and debate is how we grow as individuals, its how we learn. Its why freedom of speech is so important and why echo chambers are so harmful. And it's why GAF is a much healthier place for discussion than the purple place, because here discussion is actually allowed to happen.

Many people today are so thin skinned and fragile that they can't handle discussion or disagreement, and its a large reason why we have the current mental health crisis we are experiencing in many parts of the world. Much like the OP of this thread, he would rather be banned than be part of discussions he doesn't like. That's not healthy, and I feel sad for him.

Turns out the people who want all their representation jammed into whatever the fuck you're making - ain't the ones buying, never were, and just want to see existing beloved IPs ruined.

It really has been incredible watching a media industry ruin all its existing good-will & credibility by alienating their loyal fanbases & consumers, turning them from a guarantee day one purchase to a "wait and see".
