NeoGAF, WY?

Well, I suppose that's one option... As a matter of fact, with enough people perhaps a tent community wouldn't be so bad at first... it could end up being pretty cool actually.

We'll upgrade from tents to trailers after a while and have the world's biggest trailer park.

Is there anyone who lives in the area who could run down and maybe take pictures, ask about the bidding, etc? I would, but I'm in Canada, so it would be a little distance to travel ;P
Here's the most information we have, and it's not just open for inspection all the time:

I'm not sure the weather would be good for that.

The idea of a GAF town 23 miles away from me scares me. I don't know guys it seems like unless you came up with a clear plan it would be doomed, assuming you raise the money. The legal angle between the bidders would be the problem. Unless it was clearly written who owns what and how the money will be used. If you guys succeed I'll have to visit your town.

You should scout it out for us!

You're just mad because we thought of it first!

So who would GAF consider "trust worthy" enough to handle the kick starter and eventually the bidding funds? If we could get someone major like Timedog or even Evilore managing it, not only would we know the funds were in safe hands, but it would act as a kinda endorsement and get more people on board.

This is too huge to entrust with anyone but Evilore in my opinion. He might not want to handle such duties but I honestly wouldn't have it any other way.

With that said, he could be a dick and up and run with the money just as quick as anyone else could. I guess he just SEEMS trustworthy being the overseer of this place and all.

Well, we do know who Evilore is in reality, so it just adds that much more security to the matter. I suppose I'll shoot him a PM. But he's probably quite busy dealing with NeoGAF as is... has anything like this really ever happened before? If so what ended up happening in regards to money?

Holy shit! That's right by Veedauwoo! Amazing climbing and biking there!
And you're close to UW and CSU!

Winter absolutely sucks though and the highway does sometimes have to close. But that little place is awesome! Hah! I've actually been there!

And here's what it can potentially get like in the winter :P

I just looked it up on google maps and holy shit I actually just went by it a week ago on a road trip. I had no idea it was there. It's only 3 and a half hours away from me.

Edit: I'm gonna go ham on some binary options, maybe I can do more money after all. It all depends on if I can get a job in the meantime though; I just moved to Colorado. This could end up being the craziest two months of my life.

Yea, you can toss me in for $100, maybe more later if this actually becomes a thing. I done worse things with my money, and this could be hilarious if it would actually pan out.

Could make filing my income tax interesting though.

I will totally pledge $250, and if we actually get close I'll double it. Are we going to do like a Founder's Square in the center of town made of bricks engraved with the usernames of everyone who chips in?

Never been to Buford, but I assume that it is part of the sagebrush wasteland.

Nope. It's right by the pictures I posted. C'mon fellow Greenie! Join us!
That's what people in Wyoming call people from Colorado. It's because of our license plates ;)

Can I be the preacher? It can't be too hard to preach the Religion of GAF.

"Thou shalt not believe the words of Patcher, neither thou, nor thy wife, nor thy maid, nor thy manservant, not thy cattle, nor thy chocobo, nor all who are in thy house."

"Thou shalt Hype thyself to ridiculous levels during E3, for it is a Holy Feast to the Gods of Gaming."

I could totally do this.

You spelled Michael Pachter's name wrong; if that's what you were going for. Otherwise you're right, never trust those patch notes!

New religion centered around gaming.
Make it happen.

If Bay Maximus, the person doing the current total isn't back by the time I wake up tomorrow I'll go through and gather all the new totals into a new list. All we really need before this project can get under way is for someone we can trust to volunteer to handle the kick starter money. As I posted above, I contacted Evilore, but I'm unsure on whether or not he was the time or the willingness to help us. If anyone else has any ideas on how to manage this where we wouldn't have to worry about people handling the money, please post it.

Good luck everyone.

Wyoming is one of the most beautiful places in America. It just gets damn cold and there is little commercialism so modern people can't survive there.

I've lived in both. Lived in Denver a couple different times and lived in the Big Horn Mtns in Wyoming. The stretch from outside of Buffalo, Wyoming to Cheyenne is comparable to a wasteland. Nothing but sagebrush and antelope. If it's anything like that, (and from the looks of Google maps it is), I'll have to pass.

Me too! And I've actually driven that section between Laramie and Cheyenne many times. It's about a mile away from the National park where it's not like you describe. One of the few places where it actually isn't a flat barren in Wyoming unless you head far west.

But yes, the I-25 is a wasteland. Probably why they built it there.
