NEW Assassin's Creed 3 screenshots

To help level the playing field, Connor will have access to an expanded arsenal of weapons. We've already seen the tomahawk and longbow in action, but joining them will be a rope dart similar to those used in Chinese martial arts. With it, you'll be able to pin enemies from your perch above them, presumably allowing for long-rage stealth kills.

Holy shit, that sounds so fucking awesome.

how?

Magic feet.

I wonder what all clubs there will be for you to join. Also, I kind of hope the Assassins have an awesome main base.

Not really interested... definitely not getting the AC vibe from these shots, or at least what I always loved in it.

I know what you mean, it doesn't look like there's going to be any unique cities, high places to climb, crowds to blend into, or any assassinating. Totally disappointing. Just another boring game set during the American Revolution.

If they had only turned it into a coverbased shooter set in a modern scenario. :(

I will buy this game!

Then I will walk around, take in the atmosphere, not do any quests then uninstall it.

Looking forward to it!

Also, what the hell google chrome. Uninstall is so a word. So is google.

Are you answering "yes" as in... you'd not play it because they decided to create a new image more appropriate for the time or something? Yes, as in you really believe it'd sell even a handful of copies less? Would you really stop playing the series? I doubt you're that shallow, or that 99.9% of gamers are that shallow.

It's not a question of shallowness. I agree, if someone who was enthusiastic about the game looked at the cover, saw a different outfit, and said "man... I won't buy this game ever now!!" then yes, that'd be pretty superficial, but that's not what I'm talking about.

For a game this big, tweaks in the presentation or other less core aspects have their effects at the margins. Maybe no individual person ever makes the call to skip the game specifically (and consciously) because of the outfit, but maybe someone just doesn't think whatever design they produce instead is actually cool-looking and they wind up marking it down as a "buy for $30" game instead of a day-one. Maybe (and I think this is a big concern specifically for AC3) they look at a game that's already tweaking the formula pretty severely and moving away from some core franchise elements, see a complete lack of continuity in the lead character design, and say "you know what, forget about it, these guys obviously have no idea what they're doing." Maybe the new design they cook up isn't as iconic, they miss out on a chance to get alternate-universe Connor into some other game as an unlockable tie-in character, and a dude who otherwise would've gotten into the series as a result never gives it a shot.

For me, it really comes down to the hood. I like that both Ezio and Connor have shirt designs that fit with the "style" of the place they're from, but without the hood it really just wouldn't be an Assassin for me. I wouldn't not buy the game based just on that, but I'd really wonder about the developers' priorities.

Nicely said. I appreciate a little tradition and iconography in my game series, and can easily forgive any deviation from realism to attain that. Not only is the hood and uniform instantly recognizable symbols of the franchise, but as stylized period costumes, they are refreshingly unique as well. And I think that in these early stages, the hood helps to build intrigue for the character himself. As much as we know about ACIII, we still haven't been properly introduced to our lead. Who is this guy? What's he look like? Stay tuned to find out.

Rev actually took quite a few liberties with some AC standards, and I can't say it was any better for it.

Yeah, I dunno. Just could never get into them. I at least like the setting of this game so far, hopefully it engages me this time around.

I'll say. I think a part of it is the combat doesnt really seem challenging/the platforming it pretty automatic.

I'm still spending some time with 2 since the story is interesting and all, but I can see how some would find the gameplay in general boring. 3 looks amazing though, and with the new engine, hopefully some new enemy encounter designs / challenging combat will come along with it. The terrain traversal already looks like it'll be seeing some nice improvements.

Just saw them screens, hype rose tremendously. Definitely getting Revelations since it's on sale now. Really hope 3 turns out as amazing as 2 was.

Can't fucking wait. It's like the devs went into my dreams and asked me what I wanted. I was hopelessly hoping for the devs to be working on this while the Jr's worked on the cash ins. So glad I was right.

EBGames has some exclusive special edition with everything.

Oh, alright. As nice as that might be, I'm not sure it's worth paying literally double what I would have to pay to get it elsewhere.

Hopefully they release it further down the line as purchaseable DLC or something.

have not even beat Assassins Creed Part 1
Same. I've never played an Assassin's Creed game but this new one has me interested in getting caught up in the series. I need to get at least AC2, but I may get part 1 also to feel complete.

That alternate costume is awesome! It's always been a videogame fantasy of mine to play as a member of the Continental Army.

Also... what does "Eagle Captain" mean? Or am I translating wrong?

This reminds me more of RDR than any of the previous AC titles. It seems like they're really working to flesh out the world this time, which I appreciate.
