New BF:Bad Company 2 trailer/screens

Saw the last trailer yesterday. I'm really impressed, the 1080p PC footgae looks glorious! Any word on DX11 implementation?

There is PC footage? That last trailer was filmed from the 360 build according to @repi (DICE Developer).

Preaching to the choir brother. Read my posts about prone in this thread... I want it bad. I think it's a mistake not to have it.

But... I also said I could live w/o prone if they removed killcam. And they did. Games not gonna be perfect because everyone likes different things. I loved BC1 and I think everything they've done so far is a pretty good improvement on what that game established as a fun, extremely enjoyable shooter experience. I've never really thought of BC as Battlefield proper... it's an offshoot. So I'll allow them a few liberties w/o bitching too much. But there are some lines you don't fucking cross and killcam was one of them.

I'd rather have killcam and prone than no killcam and no prone. I don't have a problem with a kill cam. Snipers in the Battlefield games have more often than not been revealed by the spawn camera anyway, in BF1942 it pointed you at your killer a lot and other times had a free cam that let you look around the map.

What they really need is a hardcore mode with vastly increased bullet damage and not killcams and no HUD.

That would make everyone happy.

you know I am probably the only one with this, but I realy hate having the thompson etc in BC2...

I know I don't need to take it, but it kinda break immersion for me when I see someone (or myself) getting killed by it

like said it's personal thing

You aren't the only one, I find it stupid too. The M1911 is ok because the pistol is legitimately used by a lot of special forces around the world and is still competitive compared to other sidearms.

But the Thompson? There's absolutely no reason to use it over a modern SMG. It makes no sense at all, and the fact that they'll be balancing it with the other weapons just makes it stupid.

Seriously? I was assuming it was the PC version. It looked really nice.
Well, thanks for the info.

I want that too

We have consensus then! Hardcore BFB2, with no killcam, no HUD, and prone of course, right? If DICE does this I'll buy it day one!

I pre-ordered the Gold Edition of BFBC1, lol. Have learned from that mistake, paying 10 bucks extra for guns that were unlocked soon enough and weren't really the best in their class anyway.

Apparently there is a mini RC Helicopter you can control. :lol Not sure if it can shoot or do damage or anything, but it's hidden on the map somewhere.

Ah, here is the quote.
At the wrecked ship there was a small helicopter with a control mechanism next to it. I tried to control it but nothing was prompting me to use it. On a second ocasion, I went there and the helicopter was no longer there, but this time I did get a prompt to use the controller.

I pressed B but all I could see was the video feed which I asume was coming from the helicopter. It looked like some kind of MQ-8 Fire Scout or similar.

I'll try to take a pic of some video footage tomorrow.

Ah, here is the quote.

Would be sweet if it was some kind of usable UAV.

I like the vehicles perks, if you're a fan of vehicles it can change your role depending on what's needed or what you like to do. I like to defend with my tank so I try to find a good spot and shell away from afar, so some armor or UAV would be nice to see people sneaking up on. The helicopters should be fun, more strafing runs or more weapons to help lock down a map.

Some Impressions from a GameSpot user...

Ive been a lurker of the bf boards for ages but never bothered posting.
went to eurogamer expo in london today, bad company 2 was not listed as being present on the games list for the show but low and behold when i walked in i saw 16 kiosks running it with the desert map from the episode 1 trailer, i managed to get about 3 games in.

let me start up by saying i loved the first bad company and played it alot - got over 30,000 kills and was ranked in the top 1000 when i last played it.

Bad company 2 is such an improvement over the first one you will not believe.
The game type was conquest but with only 3 flags, which ever team held the majority flags, a missile launcher on the map would fire missiles into the sky and damage an aircraft carrier located out in the sea - it was basically titan mode except you couldnt go and board the aircraft carriers to damage them so still technically conquest mode, but im almost positive titan mode will be one of the extra modes theyve been keeping secret.

I was a chopper veteran on bc1, they are very different in bc2 - extremely slow manouvering, you cant do the crazy fast turns you could in bc1 but it has made them more balanced

tanks are alot faster and take alot more damage - it took four direct shots from a tank to destroy another tank, they could have possibly had the extra armour that dice have been talking about but im not sure.

kill cam is no way near as bad as i thought it was going to be, neither is regenerating health - its very slow. also it takes probably half as many shots to kill somebody

graphics are insanely good, the sound is also excellent, the game has none of the humour from the first one its just like the episode 1 trailer with all the swearing when your shot and stuff

i only used the pp2000 on bc1 so i only used the engineer class on bc2 - i think the weapon was a silenced ak74 (not sure i dont know much about guns) but you got an rpg a pistol, the power drill and there was 2 slots for extra stuff but they were locked, my friend was sniper and you got a sniper, a pistol, c4 and 2 slots for extras

ontop of one building there was a fixed set of goggles u could use to lock onto tanks like the jdam on bc1 and jets would fly over and drop an air strike

weapons now rank up aswell as your soldier, i dont know the purpose of it though and i unlocked 2 achievements both worth 15g but both said <insert string text> so i have no idea what they were for

thats about all i can be bothered to write about, but i definately think this is going to be a classic

one thing i did forget to mention, on the map overlooking the middleflag is a shipwreck. if you climb up on the shipwreck and walk to the back there is a set of goggles, i hopped on them thinkin they were going to be a jdam and suddenly i was looking through the eyes of some sort of drone. it was glitched though half the screen was black and I couldnt control it, when i then backed out to my left there was an RC helicopter sitting on the ship, which again i couldnt control or do anything with, I just assumed it was a glitch but reading the comments on the youtube video i linked yesterday, they guy who recorded it also made reference to the RC chopper.

Does anyone know if we will be able to select loadouts for the SP portion of the game? I loved some of the guns in SP in the first one, but couldn't use them often enough. Apologies if this has already been answered.

Is it worth getting the first game ?

I don't know about the multiplayer, but the single player campaign wasn't anything special IMO. The environments were way to repetitive... gameplay too IMO.

Apparently a beta is coming for Xbox 360 and PS3 November 19th. GameStop put it up on their site (a ps3 offer) earlier, but has since replaced it. EA said wait for official word later this week. Meanwhile, someone called their GameStop and was told they would be getting Xbox 360 and PS3 codes for the beta.

More pre-order bonuses ftw! ... =\

I hope they just forgot to mention the PC beta
DICE has been trying hard to cater to the PC crowd ever since the whole controversy with IW and no dedicated servers. There's probably a PC beta as well. Hell maybe you guys don't have to pre-order.

lol at the first video

I will totally be playing the class that has the sniper rifle in this. Only because my sniping skills in TF2 are good .. for now anyway :lol

Game looks great and i've never really played a battlefield game before.

Nice gameplay vids, personally I'm hoping the controls are tightened up. Nothing kills a FPS like weird controls, especially a console one.

:lol Which was what, all of a week ago?

I doubt they've drastically changed their plans for the game since then.

So am I reading this right in that the class has an SMG, a pistol and an RPG? Anyway yay at pistols for all classes.

Well that's not as bad I guess. I assume when you die, the LD returns there maybe?

Oh, but one thing I wish they would take from MW, is the accurate reflection of recoil down the iron sights. While MW recoil is largely a joke, the little recoil they had was accurately reflected in how much the sights jumped around when you fired. From what I've seen I don't think they have that in BC2.

I didn't say anything about changing the game. I said a beta will probably be released for PC as well. And yes, all they've been talking since the whole IW shit 2 weeks ago is the PC version. They've had a blog on it and keep boasting about their PC support. I didn't say they changed plans.

BC1 did have extremely weird recoil, you point your assault rifle at a target 300 feet away and simply hold down, basically all of the bullets will hit a very accurate grouping. But of course if you're moving and aiming, the weirdly twitchy controls would have you spraying bullets in an unusual horizontal pattern. Very odd overall.

I want them to go back to Battlefield 2 style recoil. Of course, BF2 recoil was extremely similar to COD4 recoil, so you might not like that.

Believe they are going back to Bf2 style recoil.

I found BF2 and MW alot different... I dunno, the first thing I would do when spawning in BF2 is switch the assault rifle to semi auto, as full auto was kinda garbage at range (as it should be in BF anyway). But more to the point, in BF2 you could fire an LMG at a wall, and while you sights wouldn't move, the bullets would go all over the place. In MW, while there's less recoil, the sights jump around when you fire.

So I want the recoil from Battlefield, but the sights from MW if that makes any sense.

Yea, the BF games have a CS style recoil system. Bullet spread rather than gun kick. The COD style is more like Day of Defeat where the actual gun kicks up (in ironsights at least). However, since cod4, the recoil on pretty much all guns has been reduced to negligible levels for the noobs :/

It's odd because networking-wise, BF1943 had a very smooth launch on PS3 but an incredibly rocky one on 360. Maybe they're worried about solving the PS3 mic issues which still haven't been fixed in either BFBC or BF1943?

indeed, i hope they get a fix for that in the beta...
