Mooreberg said:Can somebody clarify this: Instincts is a sequel or remake of the PC version? I noticed in the Xboxyde videos you hear Doyle talking but if you played the pc version, you know that wouldn't make too much sense. And Predator is a new single player campaign?
op_ivy said:60 fps should be quite cool, so i'm still cautiously looking forward to this, but i expect more for my 360. give me a farcry that looks like that cg bit at th end![]()
DaCocoBrova said:How much more could you expect (based off of what is already out)? I wish I saved the quotes I had re: next gen and people's expectations. Going by the games supposed 60fps, this is far more impressive than 90% of what's on offer for the 360.
op_ivy said:i honestly think something comparable to the cg at the end is doable...
and just cause this looks better then thaw, gun and a few others, doesnt mean its even in the same ballpark as pgr3 and graw, regardless of framerate. its a decent current gen port, like burnout, battlefield, etc.

If you totally ignore the PC as a gaming platform, then I can see your point. But it's been pretty gradual to me.
SonnyBoy said:Maybe you guys are too used to fanboys. I wasn't refferring to the 360 at all. I was speaking of videogames across any/all platforms. I could have been a lot clearer with my statement. I know that the 360 catches a lot of flak but I recent pulled out my Atari 2600 and thats what birthed my remark.
DaCocoBrova said:No. It's never 'regardless of frame rate'. How a game performs is as, or more important than how it looks. I play games, not stare at them.
And PGR3 is not all that.
op_ivy said:it is all that, and 30fps games are completely playable. having far cry run at 60 does not make it a better looking or playing game then anything running at 30. sorry.
this framerate non-sense is completely out of control for some of you. maybe you have crazy sensitive eyes where it really is this important, but for me, its just another layer of graphical polish. its not needed, and in some cases, other graphical effects are more important.
DaCocoBrova said:The whole 'fanboy' thing doesn't really register with me. But yeah, when comparing the SNES to the 2600, let alone the 360, will remind anyone of how far we've come in terms of visuals.
DaCocoBrova said:You're very wrong. You picked the wrong genre to say that frame rate doesn't matter. A genre where precise aiming is key.
There's an interactve element here. One that you 30fps sympathizers seem to ignore.
Furthermore, you say you expect more from the 360 from a visual standpoint, but could care less about the performance? That's just backwards.

No point in going back and forth with me on this. But for a $400 machine, I don't think 60fps is a lot to ask for.
SonnyBoy said:How long will it be till 60FPS is the low end standard for consoles? Im thinking maybe it'll take 2-3 more generations. I still dont think we have the HP to spare to dedicate to FPS for developers who are on the fence as to which one to choose. We aren't even fully into this new generation yet so maybe we could see it in the latter half of life cycle.
DaCocoBrova said:60fps will never be a uniform thing. Not as long as publishers force deadlines. When a game isn't 60fps, it's because of lack of optimization (or over ambitious devs, although I think any game that can hit a solid 30 could do 60 with some time and TLC).
A quick solution would be to have modes where you can play at either 30 or 60fps. Sacrifice some (useless) detail if needed to achieve 60fps.
I'll never understand why people argue w/ those that want more than the minimum when it comes to gaming.
LAMBO said:I wish consoles games had as many graphics options as pc games. Especially the pc ports. I wouldn't mind turning off eye candy like fancy shadows for a better running game. I think 60 fps will be standard for many next gen titles by next year. i hope so anyway, 60 fps is just so damn smooth.

360 FPS overload?
teacupcopter said:Classic half way between gen shots. Insanely awesome water, pretty cool environments, last gen character models :lol
LAMBO said:Another thing i wish is that these level editors could be run on a pc, and the map transfered to the console. I couldn't imagine trying to make a map with a control pad and a gimped level editor.
