New Ghostbusters game?

Someone on a ghostbusters fan forum found two nice videos showing what could be a new ghostbusters game.

The game looks pretty impressive, with a gameplay looking like GoW's one.

Unfortunately, it seems like it's impossible to find more infos about this supposed game. The videos' titles mention ZootFly, which actually is a game developping company, the one behind First Battalion, a FPS combining features from FPS, RTS and RPG (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Battalion) and some other barely known titles (http://www.zootfly.com/)

Game Confirmed

Yesterday the internet was alight with talk of a new Ghostbusters title following the release of some in-game footage featuring our favourite slimebusters in action.

But there were some nagging issues too - a locust horde head in the concept art and a developer keeping quiet had all but dashed our hopes...
No more! ZootFly have broken there silence and whilst they have confirmed that this work is legit, the news is bittersweet. As of now, production on the title has stalled. Bostjan Troha, CEO of ZootFly, commented; "We are very glad to see the overwhelming response to the Ghostbusters prototype movies. What you've seen is indeed in-game footage of early prototypes on the Xbox 360, running on ZootFly's proprietary engine. Due to licensing issues, further development of the Ghostbusters game hit a bump on the road. But everybody here at ZootFly is working actively on resolving the challenges with the owners of the Ghostbusters IP."

Yay and boo in equal measure. Lets hope they do successfully traverse the red tape and that this title is not left in limbo indefinitely. In the meantime, ZootFly are plugging the gap with another game. Troha continues;

"Part of the ZootFly team is currently working on an original game called TimeO, which is closely related to Ghostbusters. The game follows the adventures of two die-hard New Yorkers. They get trapped deep in the shadow world of a parallel New York. The city itself is a war machine threatening to wipe out our world and they have three days to stop it. As soon as the Ghostbusters IP issue is resolved, the whole team will go back to Ghostbusters."

The basic premise of TimeO sounds remarkably similar the plot of Ghostbusters II, where the city (charged with negative energy) becomes an enemy to our heroes. How this will tie-in with the expanded universe remains unclear, but we will keep our eyes peeled for any new info.

This looks cool I thought. A bit goofy, but cool.

It could be an awesome action adventure game. Traveling around the city, solving paranormal cases, figuring out how to trap ghost... stuff like.

Doesn't look like this game is going for anything original. :(

Those proton packs/guns look a bit bigger than they were in the movies don't they? And what happened to the ecto-traps?

Totally fake or fan-made.
You can see one of the enemy's faces from Gears in the Gozer-ball on top of that building.

Still would be cool. At least they remembered to include Winston this time.

In my professional opinion these are new proton packs that just KILL ghosts, however possible that may be.

whoa whoa whoa nice shootin tex

Ghostbusters for the Genesis was one of the best games on the platform.
Today your best choice would be to buy this game:

Excellent adventure game with great humor.

With Ghostbusters being a Sony Pictures property I'd have thought that SCEWW would have had first crack at it in terms of developing a game.

I can't open Youtube at the moment for some reason but assuming that it's not a fan project, it seems like a strange choice for a game adaptation.

We came, we saw, we kicked it's ass..... words to live by

Yeah, regardless of whether this is real or fake, for all the detail in the environments, they're so empty. Even that short gameplay clip was missing some very essential tongue-in-cheek humor, the cornerstone of all things Ghostbusters.

What's up with the whole picture? Looks like the Ghostocalypse came and someone's got a dirty and bloody job to do. Oh wait, wasn't Ghostbusters always fun and goofy? The video simply reminded me of a run of the mill shooter -.-

If you look in the top right of the image, you can see the face of one of the Gears of War enemies in the glowing light at the top of the building.
WTF Ha ha.

But I wish there would be a real game like this. I love the GhostBusters

Epic's new project confirmed?!

One could only hope. :(

needs to be on the Wii for full enjoyment.

Oh yes... indeed... because you'd only get half the enjoyment on a PC, 360, or PS3... Just like with every other game ever created :lol

Ahaha that's totally a fan project and totally looks unplayable and not fun.

It's not a fan project.

My theory? Since Aykroyd could never get Ghostbusters 3 off the ground, he decided to license the characters to a game. Same thing happened with Tron. They couldn't get Tron 2.0 going as a movie so they licensed it into a videogame.

Dan Aykroyd doesn't have sole control of the property. In fact, I'm not sure that anybody other than Sony has any say in the licensing (otherwise, I have a hard time believing Extreme Ghostbusters would have ever happened).

(Side note, given how much Murray didn't want to do a 3rd movie, I very much doubt that he'd have allowed his likeness to be used in a game.)

Anyway, I highly doubt these just leaked onto YouTube. I'd bet good money that the dev wanted to do a GB game, created the demo, and pitched it to Sony, but got rejected.

(But I still don't see how anyone could think this was a fan project).`

Yep, they wouldn't let them make action figures with his likeness awhile back.

Indeed it was. a buddy from Karate loaned me his copy of Genesis Ghostbusters in summer 1990, and it was just so awesome. best game on Genesis I had played, beside Ghouls N Ghosts, PSII and Herzog Zwei.

Enough! I get the point!

But no one has even started quoting the lesser-loved Ghostbusters 2 yet! I know a case of carpathian kitten loss syndrome when I see it.

In all seriousness I personally think this thing, whatever it may be, looks pretty swank and full of potential. To hell with the hate.
