New Ghostbusters game?

I think it looks great for what's clearly an early alpha that doesn't even have all the gameplay elements in place yet, much less all the graphical touches.

Damn, so many cameos!

And the end of the video explains where the credits from the cartoon came from... brings back great memories!

It'd be absolutely awesome if they made a movie sequel with all the original actors, but I'd definitely settle for a game of this caliber, especially since it's obviously early in the development process.

Honestly, I can't think of a better movie to game transition, hope this sees the light of day!

It would've maybe a decade ago. The youngest guy, Aykroyd, is gonna be 55, and Ernie Hudson and Harold Ramis are in their 60s.

Then you have Bill Murray, who would rather do a sequel to Garfield over Ghostbusters.

But no one has even started quoting the lesser-loved Ghostbusters 2 yet! I know a case of carpathian kitten loss syndrome when I see it.

In all seriousness I personally think this thing, whatever it may be, looks pretty swank and full of potential. To hell with the hate.

Yea, this game looks like it has loads of potential!! I hope that there's team play!

Imagine, co-op ghostbusters online!

Player 1: I saw it! I saw it!
Player 2: It's right here. It's.. looking at me.
Player 1: Ugly little spud isn't he?
Player 2: I think he can hear you!
Player 2: Graaahhghghbhb
Player 2: He slimed me.

Yes, it's true your honor. Someone in this thread has no dick.

This would kick ass on Wii though. I kept thinking that over and over as I played Elebits.

someone told me this was just a tech demo, to demonstrate something called xubl for maya..

Oh well.
that is a lot of work for a tech demo. something tells me that whoever owns the rights to ghostbusters was shopping it around and called various companies to 'pitch' a game. this one built something, and somehow it got online.

To bad Dan Akroid killed all Ghostbusters 3 speculation and Extreme Ghostbusters deserved more seasons.

Someday,I'll make Ghostbusters 3 live at least in videogame form. That Video gave me plenty of ideas to make it work.

It was Bill Murray's fault. He didn't want to do it and Aykroyd wouldn't do it without him (Murray was the best part about those movies anyway).

I missed this (despite search terms "ghostbusters") and reposted. Maybe someone will kill the dupe thread.

Here's my take:

I could be wrong, but I suspect these are viral vids for a funded game (I have no inside word on this whatsoever, just a hunch). If not, it's only a matter of time before a publisher realizes that, for certain properties, they stand to generate more hype among the hardcore with precisely this variety of out-of-nowhere-and-with-no-info reveal. How many modders have access to UE3 at this point (note the Locust face cameo).

Other things to note:
The Chrysler Ecto2 reeks of synergy TM.

Mod makers this far along always make themselves known on ModDB

AintItCoolNews has a story but fails to explain where it got the image

yes to the game
no to those suggesting another movie. it's far too late.

i always dreamed of a ghostbusters arcade game in which two players would be standing a few feet away from a big screen, and on the ground--between the players and the screen, that is--would be a pad not unlike those used by something like ddr that could detect pressure.

it's sort of an undeveloped idea, but as far as i can figure, it'd be neat to have two players using the proton guns, almost like a light-gun shooter, but of course part of the challenge being that you couldn't cross the streams. when a ghost was sufficiently weakened, one player could drop his stream and slide a trap across the pressure pad onto a designated spot and step on a button to open it, catching the ghost. of course, if your slide is off, no ghost catch.

hey, it could happen. in mcworld.

haha, it looked great. Clearly uses the UNREAL engine, it was too close to Gears of War for comfort.
Still, if it is just utilising the same engine Gears did, how did they make the buildings crumble like that? Looked pretty shweet.
Clearly it doesn't use UE3. Zootfly has their own engine based in Maya called Xubl. It pretty much has similar features of UE3, which is why it looks similar.

None. Epic has yet to release UE3 in an open framework to anyone other then developers. There is a special version of UE3 tools released with roboblitz PC, but you can't do very much.
That car design is awful.
It is based off of a real car. Dodge Magnum.

If you look in the top right of the image, you can see the face of one of the Gears of War enemies in the glowing light at the top of the building.
WTF Ha ha.

But I wish there would be a real game like this. I love the GhostBusters

That's pretty funny!

They can't change their car. It'd be like changing the DeLorean from Back to the Future to a more modern day car...it's just not right

Well then why is there a Locust head hidden in it?

I was pumped - until I saw the vids. That looked boring as hell, didnt look much like ghostbusters either.

Wii is the system for a ghostbusters game. The possibilities are too great to ignore.

The game has been confirmed!!!

ZootFly have broken there silence and whilst they have confirmed that this work is legit, the news is bittersweet. As of now, production on the title has stalled. Bostjan Troha, CEO of ZootFly, commented; "We are very glad to see the overwhelming response to the Ghostbusters prototype movies. What you've seen is indeed in-game footage of early prototypes on the Xbox 360, running on ZootFly's proprietary engine. Due to licensing issues, further development of the Ghostbusters game hit a bump on the road. But everybody here at ZootFly is working actively on resolving the challenges with the owners of the Ghostbusters IP.

sounds an awful lot like a fan project then. Making up some random stuff without even any license obtaining, not to mention the ramifications of trying to use real actors faces as a base.

Yeah, I think you can chalk this one down as limbo banished forever.

I read somewhere else that Columbia pictures currently owns the rights, Columbia is in turn owned, or something of the sort, by Sony pictures. Since it sounds like they are developing it for the 360, would that cause any speedbumps?

There's no denying it, time to move on to the anger phase now.
Then it is a lazy concept guy at ZootFly.

or a company that wants to prove themselves. they are in the middle of Europe.

Actually, this is the real car..
Dodge is Chrysler. the 300 shares the same chassis as the Dodge Magnum. Also the Magnum is a stationwagon.

Videos were probably "leaked" just so Zootfly can point to all the hysteria on the prospect of another Ghostbusters game.

All they have to do is remake the old game and I'd buy 5 copies.
