New Ghostbusters game?

But no one has even started quoting the lesser-loved Ghostbusters 2 yet! I know a case of carpathian kitten loss syndrome when I see it.

In all seriousness I personally think this thing, whatever it may be, looks pretty swank and full of potential. To hell with the hate.

Because it isn't as quotable, except for -

"Viggy Viggy Viggy. You've been a very bad monkey!"

and

"You are like zee buzzing of flies to him!"

Venkman: Have you been outside lately? Do you know how weird it is out there? We've taken our own head count! There seem to be three million completely miserable assholes living in the tri-state area!
Hardemeyer: Oh, please!
Venkman: Excuse me. Three million and one.
To bad Bill Murray's old as hell.

I was coming in here happily awaiting good news, - read the first post, saw the videos, was excited. awesome!

And then read the rest of the thread. :( Let's hope those guys can resolve the issues with the license-holders.

Then it is a lazy concept guy at ZootFly.

or a company that wants to prove themselves. they are in the middle of Europe.

Dodge is Chrysler. the 300 shares the same chassis as the Dodge Magnum. Also the Magnum is a stationwagon.

yeah just like a Pontiac is a Chevy..... It's still a different car.

Chrysler is the main company. Those Dodge Magnums are based off the 300.

Videos were probably "leaked" just so Zootfly can point to all the hysteria on the prospect of another Ghostbusters game.

Probably more like they used Ghostbusters as a spec project for the portfolio and a template for their engine project (lights, lightning, transparencies, realistically-rendered city buildings, voice synch, etc) without any license just because they liked the film, with aims of moving that work (whatever was done) into a different game entirely unless by some miracle they got the actual license.

Clearly it doesn't use UE3. Zootfly has their own engine based in Maya called Xubl. It pretty much has similar features of UE3, which is why it looks similar.
You know nothing, it's Xubl2!!! TWO!! ;) ;) ;)

But yea, there is IP issues. They halted development and started a side project, TimeO, which sounds pretty sweet. Based on some (real-life) paranormal events in a basement in New York august of 2006. Where two investigators get lost in a basement in Harlem, that's supposedly rumored to have some strange portal to another world.

In the game this portal leads to a parallel world in which the buildings of New York city live and revolt and are about to invade the real world, or something or other. Sorta Shadow of the Colossus style adventure so far, I think! Two adventurers have to stop this strange occurance in three days time.

I read that release and to me it sounded like they were hinting on working on the same game but it wasnt called ghostbusters until licensing was worked out.

Either way.. im luke warm on this, if it happens it will probably suck, but I love ghost busters.

The problem with this is that it misses the point of Ghostbusters entirely. That music and the shots they used are far too serious. When it says, "There's only one team blah blah blah" the Ghostbusters theme needed to kick in over the montage of the GBs kicking paranormal ass, along with some choice comedy bits. Then it could get epic and more serious towards the end, to show what they're up against this time, and then the theme plays again with the logo.

Zootfly? Bah, they have poor renome (Panzer Elite Action and shitloads of cancelled games), they should stick to military stuff. Or atleast finish Hollow first - game had great potential, but project is on ice.

i stand corrected :lol :lol

It's still a different car.
If you sit in either the Dodge or Chrysler version of the magnum there is zero difference outside of labels. they are even manufactured in the same plant. Pontiac and chevy hold more differences as they don't share the same powertrain or chassis for their cars.

As much as i'd like a new Ghostbusters game, that Venkman video looked so unbelievably crap, and the gameplay looked like a shitty Gears of War, so I don't get the excitement asides from the concept, which COULD be amazing if made by a good developer.

Just read through the thread... and I'm so glad someone already quoted the...

"It's true... this man has no dick."

In some way/shape/form.

GHOSTBUSTERS!

as i explained before, we think the spirit of a 17th century moldavian tyrant is alive and well in a painting at the manhattan museum of art

It's still a 300.

So... they're making this game for the 360 (if it even exists - is this another Nibris?). But wouldn't a game like Ghostbusters be a thousand times more suited for the Wii remote?

Apologies for the self-pimpage, but in our latest podcast that's just gone up today (episode 48), we have what I *think* is the first interview with Zootfly. Check it out here. Direct linkage here.

Sorry for bumping this thread, but I was banned when I found out about this game through an other videogame news site.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this video. I went crazy. I'm a big fan, and I used to have many toys when I was a little kid.

This game could work out very well IMO. The stream of the proton gun looks cool, as does the environment. The game breathes this dark atmosphere which I think fits the Ghostbusters subject very well. Imagine all the cool possibilities: this immense boss fight with a Shadow of the Colossus (or bigger) sized Stay Puft Marshmallow man, or crossing streams with other Ghostbusters, or encountering Slimer for the first time.

As I understand it, the developers are experiencing problems with acquiring the IP rights to make this game, but I hope this problem will be tackled very soon. Finally a good Ghostbusters game, although the one for GameBoy was fairly nice.

I'm excited to see what the future brings. Also that artwork picture is very nice! It's so Ghostbusters.

Please, let it be!!

I wonder if Sony would want exclusive rights on a Ghostbusters videogame or if they'd be more liberal... like they are with the Spiderman movie games, or licenses like Open Season?

4 player co-op with someone hunting down ghosts with the PKE Meter, two players with proton packs and then someone laying out the trap. Like in the first movie when they catch Slimer in the hotel. So much potential. Hopefully they figure out all the license stuff and make something great.
