Then I shall play it that way :D

The range of shadows is destroyed. Soft shadows are washed out and the closer hard shadows are turned to almost black areas.
Lets hope there is some of the KZ smoke and mirrors in other areas.

Part of that is probably because they're off-screen shots. I'm sure the balancing of the light is still being worked on. Visuals are the last thing that get polished up and the game still has a decent amount of dev time left.

I was wondering if that hard light is just thunder/lightning at that very particular frame. the picture looks great, very visceral and unsettling, but the lighting doesn't feel natural at all. it felt like someone only bumped up the contrast and don' bother correcting anything else.

Found some impressions of the god of war 3 demo at the eurogamer expo. These impressions are from someone on another message board. I rehosted his photos because he was using imageshack.

HDR ftw

These new screens look brilliant. Fucking knew this game would deliver visually.

Haters gonna eat some massive crow come release.

Great stuff! Can't wait to see more. Really love the improvements in the helios off-screen shot, and the other ones as well.

Wow, this game is improving graphics wise. It was beautiful in the E3 video, but it's even more beautiful now. Can't wait to see how it looks when it's done.

Too bad that's not what we are getting, according to Gamespot anyway.

Now, Sony Computer Entertainment has struck a deal with its corporate sibling Sony Pictures Entertainment to bring the God of War III demo to movie fans. When it goes on sale on December 29, the Blu-ray edition of the summer sci-fi hit District 9 will include the demo--which is the same E3 demo included in the God of War Collection--amongst its bevy of extras. Those pack-ins will also include an interactive map of the South African metropolis of Johannesburg, where the film is set.

I do hope they are wrong.

Not saying anything till I see direct feed shots. Camera-to-TV shots always look better.
This is coming from a huge gow fan.

Could be a new build of the E3 demo, which is what these new pictures are from. But it probably won't be.

Only seeing what happened with the Motorstorm: PR demo (yeah, that ooold one), I wouldn't be surprised so much to see that the demo included is one of the oldest build

It's an off-screen pic. So that's probably the cause.

Here's another version (also off-screen, obviously):

There was no such thing as a old M:PR demo. The screens those guys acutally compared it with (and thought those screens were newer) were actually older. It just looked a bit better because it was the same track but at a different time, so the lighting was more impressive.

Played this at the Eurogamer Expo. The gameplay is great, like the first two but even more epic than ever.

My biggest gripe is the framerate. It barely managed 60fps and kept stuttering around the 30fps mark. The new Ratchet demo is probably the best comparison.

Pretty gutting to me as booth Dante's Inferno and Bayonetta were running at a constant 60 :/

It's got a lot of time left. Hopefully the framerate will smooth out.

New screens look so awesome!

Can't wait to play this come March, played the first two about 10 times each. GOW3 and GT5 are my most anticipated games of 2010.
