Screen shots show lighting at its finest? Get real!

I think they just bypassed the Pink Age and go right to the Bronze Age. And for good reason, too.

DrBo42 said:Wow.. Someone needs to take a figure drawing class. Kratos' proportions are completely wrong here, and it looks like he's falling over rather than looking forward. Terrible.

i'll give you the short version:
if game x comes out after game y, then game x must look better than game y.
Yes. I am listening to some of Gerard Marino's work on the game right now. Pardon the pun, but it's Godlike.Septimus said:Ahhh I want this so bad! The music is one of the best parts of these games and I can't wait to hear it in 5/7.1.

Maybe, but the scale they've hinted at in those final trailer moments could make up for any graphical shortcomings in close-up. Think of the scale, man, the scale!Visualante said:Doesn't look as good as I expected. It's not even close.
When I think of scale, I think of an engine that can do really nice indoor platforming environments, and then scale back the assets to make really epic outdoor environments, all seemlessly.Haunted said:Maybe, but the scale they've hinted at in those final trailer moments could make up for any graphical shortcomings in close-up. Gow is all about expression, movement, attitude, aptitude, aggression, sheer epicness, a celebration of all things ONLY noticeable in its dynamic glory. Look at his face. How awesome is Kratos when he mimes, rips and rents. How mesmerizing when he walks the path of scarification on the beats of war. Elegance and Fervor, Strength, but precise and refinement. He is the sculpture of strength and the strong is the Will.
Misguided thy are, comparing such glory to some dirty game like Gears ass War. Fools thy are, judging so fervently from a static images. Whats next? Beautifully textured RE5 pictures? Then again I know as much of GoW as the ignorant haters themselves, since what do we know of the game. Since GoW 2 is still visually strong TODAY, DESPITE its simplistic static form, I dare not pronounce God of War 3 visually weak.

What exactly did you expect, when we've seen what the game looks like several months ago, and the new screens look better and more detailed? Its not like this is the first time they've shown it, so that there's no reference point for what to expect.Visualante said:Doesn't look as good as I expected. It's not even close.
Ah yes, it was him, and he actually sounded dead serious about it...Dante said:Weren't you also the guy that thought the project Trico Video had "Shitty" animation and bad cinematography?

Seriously, if that's an in-game model that would be just fuckin ridiculous... and i'd like to see better if anyone has any examples. The model is almost perfect, tessellation issues down to an absolute minimum, the skin shader is superb and the texture detail in general is also pretty crazy especially on the head.
Love it, santa monica has great artists. Cant wait to see more.
Thats what I originally thought. But then I heard pretty much the same team who made the first two games is working on the third game. I'm sure this should be a top game.2 Minutes Turkish said:Can't wait. Bought my PS3 for THIS game and no other.
I'm just starting to worry it won't be as good as 1 or 2. Not sure why.
I'm still buying day one though.

Best part is, they even have his muscle animations done right. Down to sixpack stretching/squishing (you could actually see this in the trailer)Pallaris said:Seriously, if that's an in-game model that would be just fuckin ridiculous... and i'd like to see better if anyone has any examples. Well I didn't see those screens so that's not really my problem. What I expected was something new, I expected epic environments, not the same old type of characters running through the same old routines. The scale of the trailer looks great to me but these images suggest nothing of the sort.Lord Error said:What exactly did you expect, when we've seen what the game looks like several months ago, and the new screens look better and more detailed? I've read enough of your previous posts to know what you did with your post here.
No need to defend your GoW or PS3 credentials.
And I couldn't care less what your PSN ID is, as it proves absolutely nothing.
