What happened to Westwood? They just stopped making games.
This is on my wishlist on GOG.

I only played the demo but I had a ton of fun with it. I'd literally spends hours playing on that single map. I think the servers are still up too since I was able to play it a few months ago. I'd probably check out a new end-gen or next-gen sequel.
I'm pretty sure they are bringing the IP back
I really liked Dragon Age Oriins. It was a lot of fun.
Too bad we never got that sequel.
Phantasy Star isn't a new IP but I would love to see PSU 2 on next gen consoles. So annoying how PSO 2 is going to be for PC only plus vita. PSU was my first experience with Phantasy Star and great memories were made.

Holy shit! I thought I was the only one that played this game. I only vaguely remember it, but I liked it, even though I sucked balls at it. Probably one of the first proper PC games I ever played.

just thinking of what origin is now, makes me want to cry

I know this isn't going to be the most popular choice around here as the game was generally panned on gaf (and everywhere, really). But the people who were dedicated to this game know how much potential was there. 256 player battles, vehicles, bunkers, turrets, actual ranks in the game that meant something (like the leader of your platoon could call in air strikes or block the enemies radar).
It was, in my opinion, the most hardcore shooter on consoles this gen. It was basically impenetrable to new players which made the whole 'free to play' release a complete failure. It took atleast 50 hours of play to memorize each of the humongous maps. It also took a long time to understand why the bunkers, the AA and other targets were important to attack/defend.
The thing that took it to an entire different level for me though is the absolute beast mode that good players could go on from time to time. Now it took you to be on defense, usually, and in a part of the map you know perfectly... for the squad going up against you and the nearby squads to be fairly dumb. But a typical game of MAG would end for a normal player with like 20 kills and 18 deaths. Someone amazing at the game could break 100 though. Just absolutely go off and get in this zone where you are just fucking RAMBO-ing the entire other army. I never got 100, i broke 50 a couple times, but goddamn it was just amazing to watch.
Unfortunately the high entry level of skill and game knowledge needed combined with the fact that it wasn't call of duty meant that MAG lived a pretty quiet life with a small but dedicated fanbase. And now, of course, Zipper is no more. But for two straight gens they have given me my favorite shooters for each. Socom 2 and now MAG.

That's funny, because my comment was going to be

I'd love a PS4 sequel to Warhawk that is actually like Warhawk. A PS4 Starhawk sequel on the otherhand, well I would keep an eye on it at least. Too bad neither are going to happen.

Team Bondi is no more and its remnants are working on Whore of the Orient, so I have no idea what has become of the L.A. Noire IP. Rockstar owns the rights now and I'm not sure how eager they are to work on a sequel given the unique, expensive motion capture tech involved with the first game. I'd love a sequel though.

Heavenly Sword.

I know Ninja Theory are still around, and Sony own the IP but I don't see a sequel being made. I know there was a rumour that SCE Cambridge were working on it but then it also emerged they cancelled it because it wasn't commercially/economically viable or something.
What Sony should do, is get a team like Ready at Dawn to make a prequel game, say Heavenly Sword: Origins for Vita. Give it another shot at the public and see if there's still enough interest to warrant a full on Heavenly Sword II for PS4. Please!

One of my favorite games of the Playstation era. A shame it will probably never be another one.
I've talked about it in many threads before, but the death of LucasArts makes it official: we will never see a sequel to Gladius. Not that there was really any hope before.
Such a great concept. You played as a gladiator roaming the land, recruiting & equipping a highly customizable band of warriors to partake in arena battles. The battle system was a really great RPG-strategy-action combination. Even had a co-op mode & the ability to take on your friend's team. So much variety in this game -- I sunk more time into it than any other game in the GameCube-PS2-Xbox era (it was on all three, as well as the PC). Nevermore, nevermore.
ricochetguro said:What was the other gladiator game on the PS2? In this one I think you could actually dismember enemies, was M rated of course. Want to find a copy and play it as well, think it's considered another hidden gem.

Great little action game here with plenty of character, fun vechile sections, and some of the more enjoyable "Take over a bad guy!" mechanics, going inside their body and communicating with the other bad guys.
Didn't sell very well, there were bought by Blizzard in '05. Last I heard they were working on Starcraft: Ghost...
:/
edit: KRYPTO I LOVE YOU

It did a lot right, but it still had a lot of room for improvement. If it had any marketing for it maybe SuperBot would still be around to make a sequel![]()
