That's the Ryo Hazuki stance, alright. Love the atmosphere going on in those screens. It's obviously early days though, look forward to seeing where it goes from here.

I know right, it's only a few months into development.
I dont think people are accustomed to having in depth access to development with traditionally published games. But with crowdfunded games they need to show constant updates and proof of development progression.

Watching this and being at an theather at e3 last year really drove home how much people wanted this to me. Like a guy next to me was crying, another guy jumped up his popcorn flung and nobody was even mad. Just seeing everyones reactions to this game and seeing it get funded so quickly i can't do anything But be happy for lovers of my hobby. I have to imagine seeing these screenshots for certain people means so much no matter the looks they're bus happy its coming and want it to be good and its amazing.

Does it really matter if Shenmue 3 doesn't look great? It's all about the story. I'd take Shenmue 3 on the original engine if that was the only option. Even with the finished product, I'm not expecting it to be cutting edge.

IMO, it's beautiful mainly because Shenmue 3 is real.
Every time there's an update for the game I keep telling to myself "oh my god, this is really happening."

These look nice. Hopefully they weren't kidding on the somewhat-hint of Shenmue 1 and 2 remasters, because I'd like to play the previous games of the series considering I backed it to support lol

I don't think that argument is a strawman.
It's just an illustration that games do indeed look better from prototype to final.
You're not being a graphics whore with this game because you're a huge fan of the series. Others aren't, so they're being like you usually are since the "it's all about the story" excuse or a variation of it could be used for any game.
The prototype photos look like a fan made mod to me. But it's an upgrade from DC/Xbox graphics so that's a plus.

EDIT: Can't believe people are actually complaining about the graphics. This isn't a AAA game with a Destiny budget on in-house tech to leverage like Ryse or The Order. Stop being so self-entitled and crying over nothing, the game looks great.

Looks OK. Just give me the game! I would've taken Dreamcast graphics so this is a cherry on top.
Yeah. This is meant to say "look guys, we've implemented day/night/twilight cycles, that stage of development is happening," not to show graphical fidelity. The assets are clearly nowhere near final.
