New "The Last of Us" Trailer

Lord Error

Insane For Sony
Is it just me? Or does the girl from The Last of Us look like Ellen Page?

Wow apparently all of the internet thinks the same thing, just googled haha. But it's confirmed it is not Ellen Page it seems?
She used to look a lot like her, but now they've redesigned her enough so that she doesn't really do anymore. In fact now she does look like a younger version of the actress that's acting her character.

I have a feeling that this game will just be one of, if not the best thing at E3 (unless Nintendo REALLY comes through). I think it will definitely be the best game Sony shows at E3 (sorry GOW).

Really nice looking trailer but hopefully we'll see more about how gameplay works at E3. Also, are zombies confirmed for this, or do we still not know what exactly the threat is?

Yeah Im still really curious about the gameplay too. I think I get what they're going for with the action part of it (I hope they really improve on the melee in U3) but the survival part of the game is what I want to see more of.

Well, infected characters are confirmed. I don't think that ND refers to them as zombies. But they aren't the focus of the story. That's why they showed them right away in the first trailer. It's more about human interaction.

This is going to be one of those games I want to see my first glimpse of gameplay footage when the controller is sitting in my hand, but it's going to be SO hard to resist.

GI had some videos explaining the combat and audio back in February

Risk And Consequence: Combat In The Last Of Us
http://www.gameinformer.com/b/featu...and-consequence-combat-in-the-last-of-us.aspx

"we are not a babysitting mission"
"we dont have to supervise those people, they are capable of doing things on their own"
"we are gamers, we know that if we make a whole game that is an escort mission, we would hate it. we wouldn't want to play that game."

If only Capcpom had that insight *cough* Sheva *cough*. I love it. Looking really forward to this game.

The same can be said for all the people in this thread drooling over a cut-scene declaring the game without seeing gameplay game of the year, OMFG! it will be so amazing e.t.c.

I understand (and totally agree) that the concept looks very interesting and there's a talented team behind the game but a lot of people here are overreacting
IMO considering we haven't seen the game in action yet.

What's wrong with being excited about a game? That's the problem these days; people are so jaded, and so quick to tell others how they should feel about a game. Let them enjoy the hype, even if you don't feel the same. Games are supposed to be fun!

for all the talk about having scarce ammo, the screen and artwork so far show quite a number of guns, not to mention that Joel and Ellie is probably chased by some military group which I assume will have access to guns and ammunition.

so I think even though ammo will be harder to find compared to uncharted/other shooter, if you played the game carefully and avoid shooting as much as you can, you could end up with excess ammo in the end

Me too. The balance of gameplay is going to be key for me. Uncharted is about 60% combat, and ideally I'd like to see this be significently less in tLoU so when you do get into a shoot out it feels like more of an event. Without the platforming elements to fall back on though (presumably?) it will be interesting to what you are actually doing in the game during the downtime.

my guess is exploration for resources, and a lot of sneaking around, either to bypass enemies undetected, or simply kill all enemies in the area.

Game has persistent health?

Color me 110% sold.

not only it have health, it will take some time to apply the health pack, so you can't simply use a health pack in the middle of a fight and miraculously have full health. basically you can't cheese your way through the game by hording health pack and just brute force a situation by keep healing yourselves during combat.

That is a truly amazing idea. This game has a great chance of being one of the very best of the generation if the ideas are carried out in execution.

With Bioshock skipping E3 this year, I think the floor is open for Naughty Dog to sweep most of the awards. That is unless Ubi wows us with AC3.

Those 2 seem to be the front runners for he show so far.

I dunno man. Dishonoured seems really fucking cool. I'd say those 3 will sweep.

I think we usually knw about how games are going to do at E3 depending on how much the media can speak judges events, but I don't think it is carrying the hype buzz right now.

But It looks very good and its relasing this year, so it should have a good E3 showing.

Fuarkin LOL. After seeing that Infected bust, I started thinking about how tense this game could be. If you really are short on ammo and supplies, have a persistent health, and have a hard enough time fighting wanderers, imagine how terrifying it would be to hear screeching from behind you as you are almost out of ammo. Suddenly it become run and hide.

Of course they sexed her up.

Can't have a video game with average looking children in them.
Sexualization of women in video games is definitely a huge problem, but I don't think this is one of those cases.

You just raised my hype a little bit.

This game would be pretty much perfect if it had a night/day cycle.

Eh, I'm not sure that would fit with what they're going for. Night/Day cycles are usually only in open world type games, and this game is going to be fairly linear. I imagine there will be scenarios in which they want a certain time of day/lighting to properly set the mood for whatever level it is.

cool cutscene but I think that sequence would have been really cool if you could actually PLAY through it.

lol, ND can't win.

Make scripted cinematic moments in UC3: "This game is a piece of fucking shit. I might as well watch a movie. Fuck this linear pile of shit."

Show a cutscene from TLOU: "Fuck that. Should have been a scripted, playable event."
