New Watch Dogs PS4 Gameplay/Previews

I'm gonna shoot so many people in the knees, and beat so many people with a baton.

No dead innocents. No dead cops.

I kind of hate killing cops and innocents in GTA games, so at least I have an option here.

But if the game doesn't force you to kill anyone, why can't you make it your own objective to get thru the game without killing anyone? Isn't it kinda the point to let the player make the moral choice whether or not to kill?

Because usually outright killing people is a lot easier in these kinds of games. I don't like placing artificial handicaps. What I enjoy out of games is a game giving me a problem or objective, and I have to think of the most effective way to solve that problem or objective. If the easiest way is to just shoot them, I'm probably going to at least be gravitated to that option. Artificially restraining that option is not fun. It's like playing basketball with one hand because I'm playing against somebody who is terrible. Sure that might even the game more, but it's certainly no fun to me. I want to play basketball against somebody that allows me to challenge them at my best. Same for video games.

And I don't think every open world game has to be an open morality game. It's not a necessity, and I'd argue it's overused. The fact that this game makes a big deal about hacking being your weapon, it would have been a good opportunity to stop putting such a premium on killing as an effective method of completing most of the objectives.

funny thing is, I'm willing to bet everybody thats bitching about this games graphics also are people who have WII-U's and think thats the best console ever, despite the fact its a paperweight.

I'm sure that every game system is heavy enough to hold down paper, but what does that even have to do with video games, or this thread for that matter?

Would you rather kill someone quick or shoot them in the legs so they could suffer from pain and never walk again?

I'd argue that a game that tries to make the world believable should allow the player to make the choice which suites him or herself. I'd say that developers should put more emphasis on the consequences your actions have.

Lets say in Watch_Dogs, if you go guns blazing everywhere and don't value life, people would start carrying guns and begin gunning you down when you approach and you'd have to evolve and utilise other means of reaching your objective.

Game looks like it could be decent fun, but everything just looks off to me. Visually this game is one of the least appealing titles I've seen on next gen and yes the bizarre flat lighting does in fact ruin immersion for me.

You had that option in GTAIV but they removed it in V because downgrade.

That shit sucks. I tried to shoot somebody in the knee in GTA V and he just crumpled to the ground, quivered for a bit and died. In GTA IV you could just injure the npcs and have them crawling around (it made it funner to murk them that way haha). It would have been cool to have the police's comrades pulling them out of the action and getting them to safety in GTA V.

LOTS. And it's both egregious and distracting. Especially the oncoming cars.

Are you serious? I can't watch this at work but if that's the case I may have to skip this game on current gen and go PC. Nothing breaks me out of an open world immersion than cars materializing out of thin air and objects popping into existence.

OK, I´ll take that bet. So what are we talking here? 200 bucks? 500?

That would be an interesting implementation, but I wouldn't say it's being anymore realistic or believable since it's a bit of a stretch to say that every other pedestrian will start packing over a few random shooting incidents. I do like the idea and it would be a nice change of pace for those kinds of games.

But as far as not allowing lethal tactics as a design, I see nothing wrong with a developer making that a tentpole about the game. There's no obligation to satisfy a lethal option.

I wasn't implying that this would happen after a few killings, but if you go all out vigilante, killing everything in sight. I can see that happening in real life too, if a town/city is terrorized by a criminal and it has happened. There are always people who'd love to take the law into their own hands.

Game looks like a PS3/360 game. Very dissapointed that they downgraded so much to accommodate the older hardware.

I have no idea who is going to buy this game.. GTAV driving mechanics and shooting looked lot more crispier.

Regardless of the graphics, it doesnt really look all that fun IMO. The hacking was interesting at first but im already bored with it just from watching videos.

Something about how the lighting looks on stuff like the pavement, cars, walls and everything else. Just looks so... wrong and low quality ( and place where GTA V beats it easily)

Like a slightly higher quality Saints row 2...

( While I don't care too much about the graphics downgrade, it sucks the downgrade did happen, what I LOVED about the reveal and its graphics was that it made the whole city feel a lot more alive and immersive, something that really seems to be missing in these gameplay videos and streams)

Just hope the rest of it holds up very well ( driving looks kinda shitty sadly, spider tank is FUCKING AWESOME and I am a fan of the hacking so still a lot to be excited about)

Also, I kinda wish there was a first person camera while on foot. Would take that over cockpit view anyday.

I see what you're saying, and I honestly feel a bit the same. But to say that you're bored with a game mechanic prior to playing it is kind of like saying, "I don't want to go to Mexican beaches for vacation, I've seen lots of videos already."

So I'm trying desperately to stay interested in the game and give it the benefit of the doubt.

Yeah Im really hoping that there are more interesting applications for it, but pushing a button to change lights and stuff just doesnt look all that interesting to me.

What I mean is some games you can get a feel for how they play just by watching videos...and I can see the hacking wearing out its novelty real fast.

Compared to Ubisofts other titles like AC the game looks like shit, with only the rainy night time parts looking good. Still feel like this is nothing more than AC skinned. Ubisoft just through this together, I can imagine the shit storm that would have been if it launched with the PS4 lol

Yeah I agree, I mean the first few times you do each thing (change the lights, block a road with barriers) will be amazing, but the novelty and fun factor could wear off really quick.

It could even make the game so easy that there is simply no challenge. Need to stop a fleeing criminal, tap A...

Watching this game makes me think about AC1, not in a good way.

Sheds a tear, bro fist.
Definitely one of my biggest turn offs in games.
One of the main reasons I never played as evil in Infamous and sold the game.

Am i missing something? I've watched the police chase clip and it looks awesome! very fun and i think in most TOD the graphics are very appealing.

Very odd that most ppl are not impressed and think it's ugly, maybe i need to see a longer gameplay.

Seeing cars pop in near the distance is so god damn annoying. What's more annoying is at night, their headlights pop in first then the actual cars pops in...WTF is up with that.

I think GTA did the same thing. You might be able to control things like light and object fade on PC, but that's not certain.

Jesus... this... I might regret my purchase based on the live stream. What happened?

Edit: Replying to the quote here. It's not the visuals that concern me. It's the physics, driving, shooting, atmosphere, and it seems to lack the...flare? from the reveal trailer.

SO basically every Ubisoft game ever?

The company's signature seems to be having amazing reveals that turn out to be games that are only good but not great.

I like the highspeed car chase hacks....

very realistic ;-)

Looking forward to the Review Thread and OT, i need something to play but i didn't want to pre-order this.

I'd give the slight edge to GTA V when making a mental comparison, but I'd have to put them side-by-side in order to really make a call.

I stopped watching after the car wheels didn't turn as the car turned. It actually looks like the car is ice skating without any momentum. Lots of object pop in and the game looks disappointing visually. The shooting looks off as well. I haven't played the game so i can't speak to the gameplay aspect of it but i am sure that this will be the worst looking open world game released on xbox one and ps4.

What is your problem? you have already stated your opinion about the game multiple times and you continue to crap fest in every WD thread? WTF

He has it out for Ubisoft. I believe he said that an employee stole his girlfriend or something along those lines.

It's just another $60 game peeps, geez. You're not choosing a college major here if you decide or don't decide to buy it.
