Next gen 1st party is looking really good.

I mean, I was really excited for Everwild when I was watching the trailer, thinking it looked really cool and then they say "Oh we don't really know what kind of game we are making yet" and my heart sunk, what is that then, just CGI? A target render?

I don't understand whats going to be available at launch apart from Halo: Infinite.
Do you know what first party games are launching with PS5?

Gameplay looks great. Open world, warthog, hook shot, etc

You said Spider-Man Morales looks current gen.

What does that make Infinite?

I dont care who makes the games. I only care about who owns the IP. Microsoft owns the Flight Simulator IP. Does Sony own the IP to Returnal?
Yes.

If Sony is funding a game, there's no way they won't own the IP.

That's why Insomniac went to MS to make Sunset Overdrive... That now Sony owns. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

They are not first party but my current games I'm looking forward in next gen are Kena and Scarlet Nexus.

Source where Sony is funding the game and owns the IP for Returnal and Destruction All Stars?

My guess

Launch: Miles Morales, Astrobot
Q1 2021: Sackboy
Q2 2021: Ratchet and Clank
Q3 2021: Gran Turismo 7, Last of Us 2 Multiplayer
Q4 2021: Demons Souls
2022: Horizon, God of War, Spiderman, Destruction Allstars, PSVR,
2023: Bugsnax 2: Revelations (published and funded by Sony)

Buckle up lads.

You're comparing cutscenes to in game footage? And why don't you show the more flattering cutscenes from the Halo Infinte trailer like at the beginning? Or Master Chief's model? Do you see how flawed your comparison is?

An exclusive does not mean that a game is owned or funded. What are you talking about?

We are talking about 1st party, not exclusives.

You genuinely think it's possible that 2 games unveiled as PlayStation Stuidos properties, exclusive to PlayStation 5, aren't being funded by Sony and Sony won't own the IPs?

Why one earth do you think they're exclusives in the first place? You think third parties are really keen on limiting their audience?

Ffs.

What if MS actually did buy WB Games and in August they announce it with exclusive rights to the next Batman game among several others. haha

Yeah, Xbox seems to have announced a bunch of stuff that hasn't even really even started development.

Halo Infinite will be launching with the Series X, whether it's ready or not.

Everwild hasn't even decided what type of game it will be. How do you even announce a game before knowing that?

Hellblade 2 will be made in Unreal Engine 5. But, UE5 won't even be available until later in 2021.

Fable didn't show anything, but a likely completely unrelated video of a frog eating a fairy. I'm not convinced that game has even started production.

Avowed didn't show much more than that and expecting that by holiday 2022 seems presumptuous.

Even Forza that was an annualized franchise apparently didn't have gameplay ready to show.

The show felt forced, like they knew they had to show something, regardless if things were ready to show or not.

The Medium looks good, but now it sounds like that's just a timed exclusive which will come to PS5. Someone correct me if I'm wrong about that

It's happened tons of times. Persona, Disgaea, Atelier, most Tales of games. Even games that came to Xbox only got ports after they had enough success on PS and/or Switch - Nier Automata, Dragon Quest XI, Yakuza, etc.

Could you tell me which of those games were announced as Worldwide Studios games?

? You said third-party developers wouldn't ever choose to be exclusive to a console. What do WWS games have to do with anything?

No I didn't.

I was arguing with the other guy that IPs of games stated as PlayStation Studios properties would always be owned by Sony.

I do not care why they are exclusives. PS has always has 3rd party exclusives that are not 1st party. Xbox has exclusives coming too by 3rd party developers but they are not 1st party.
Sorry but I only follow the facts. I do not do maybe or they could be. Why would anybody call a game 1st party if they do not know for sure that the game is 1st party? If you do not know then just wait until it is officially announced by Sony or the developers. Whats the hurry? :messenger_beaming:

Herman Hulst literally presented Returnal as a "new franchise from PlayStation Studios". What more confirmation do you need?

Destruction Allstars was also announced as a PlayStation Studios game.

You're just being deliberately obtuse.

This forum is a comlete mess at the moment. It seems 'But did you see Halo?!?!' is the new 'Xbox has no games!', and an annoying responce to anything positive Xbox related.
The OP is right though, a lot to look forward to next gen wise.

I honestly think all the first party games they revealed are currently planned for the first year of the console's life.

Sackboy - per Digital Foundry been in development for years. They said they expected it to be finished by now. It doesn't look that ambitious. I think it might be announced for launch, but certainly it'll be within the first year.

Destruction Allstars - again DF said Lucid has been working on it for years. I don't think you'd reveal a relatively minor game like that unless it's coming out quite soon. Very likely for the first year.

GT7 - a lot of people expected this as a launch game. I know PD hasn't always been the most prolific, but they've got a very solid base to work from in GT Sport and that game is nearly 3 years old now. Not certain for 2021 but more likely than not I'd say.

Ratchet- looks far along from the footage. Last game came out over 4 years ago. Seems almost certain for the first year.

Horizon - already announced as 2021. Would give them a good 4 years to have worked on it. Could slip due to Covid but as of now a first year title.

Rerurnal - I'm not as sure about this, but Housemarque haven't released anything for 3 years. Definitely a good chance we see this next year.

I've already commented on Demon's Souls.
Well, we basically agree on everything except Demon's Souls and GT7.
Don't care enough about Destruction Allstars or Returnal to make a prediction.

Is the general consenus that the Avowed trailer had in-engine footage at the end after the arrow lands? I keep seeing people implying that but I thought it was just CGI, not even in-engine.

I also thought Project Mara was connected to Hellblade 2, is it a separate project?

Considering it hasn't been a year since the outer worlds released, it's safe to believe Avowed is in preproduction.

No am not.

I am just asking are they owned by Sony or are they being made by 1 of Sony's 1st party studios. If its a Playstation studio game then which one of PS 1st party studios are making the game? If Phil says coming from Xbox Studios people would want to know which Xbox studio is making the game.

It looks like pure CGI to me, I just asked because I've seen people say they "thought it looked great" but I guess they meant the concept, rather than it being a game yet.

Lets me realistic here. Microsoft did their second event. They showed nothing running on actual XSX hardware (similar to their May event), Halo was a complete mess, Hellblade 2 was a no show, one quick shot of Forza track detail, Avowed was cgi, Fable was cgi, Flight Simulator was a no show, State of Decay 3 was cgi, and Project Mara (whatever the fuck this is) was a no show.

No one is wowed by CGI in 2020, at least present an in-engine trailer.

It's no secret. Neither are being made by PlayStation Studios developers, Rerurnal is a Housemarque game and Destruction Allstars is being made by Lucid.

But they were both introduced as PlayStation Studios games so we can infer that they're both being published and funded by Sony.

Both games have the worldwide studios logo that signify them as first party

I honestly don't understand how this is hard to comprehend. Hahaha...ha?

Halo looks fun as all hell, Gears 6 or whatever The Coalition does next will be great (their games are awesome), Obsidian is one if my favorite devs, and Double Fine and inXile having budgets will definitely be interesting to me.

On the Sony side, Japan studio is one of my favorite studios ever, Ratchet looks awesome, God of War 5 will hopefully be great (just please let me play the older games on PS5 damn it) and Horizon looks good graphically and will hopefully have a better map.

Definitely more excited for Xbox (as I have the option to play with keyboard and mouse), but both sides have an amazing first party coming up

There is nothing new or exciting i guess is the right word they has me interested. Maybe by the time Avowed hits it will be fresh but the rest, meh. Something else will be out that will be probably, most likely, be netter. ALWAYS take the field.
