Translate on the bit about BC
Subtitle: Unique design that merges old and new
Since Playstation 5 supports all the games of the previous generations, you can play them on your new console. In other words, all the games that are on Playstation 2, 3 and 4 can be played on Playstation 5. With this feature Sony who steals their users hearts (Turkish adage here and translated directly so..) helps enable gamers keep on playing their beloved franchises without any sacrifice.

so “all the games of the previous generations” suggests ps1 too, no?

Found the sauce for the PS2-4 BC at https://www.hepsiburada.com/staticpage/755668107574384

Looks legit, but hey.
The thing is this website is one of the biggest retailers of Turkey if not The biggest. And it is not listed in their normal directory, but the page exist to link through with possible pre-orders, as it had done with PS4 Pro previously.

There are some mistakes apparently, like a assign G in one of the GDDR6s but it is present in the other ones, and GPU clock is given in one line in HGz but again other mentions are correct in GHz.

It could be a draft and not the final flier. But even then I don't think customers will freak out over it.

I'm going to be optimistic but I'm really just expecting PS4 BC. If it's more than that then I hope I can buy some of the PS2/PS3 games from the digital store and not have to go hunting for physical copies.

The only way that would be possible is if they try to sell some PS1 Games via PSN Store.
Or maybe even offer those for free with PS+ Membership or some other form/tier of subscription?

To be honest I've been hoping they'll add all their old games to their library at some point.
I will try not to anticipate to much though.
Better to stay calm and not to expect to much.

OK got hold of a document apparently from one of the retailers in my country. It is in Turkish and looks similar to official documents for PS4 generation when it was going on pre-order. And it has all the correct specs and everything but also information on BC, it says PS2 and PS3 games are BC on PS5 and not just PS4 games. I will share that now, feel free to discuss if it is fake or if it could be real.

we gonna see it sooner or later if PS5 support PS3 and PS2. hip hop gamer said it already many times that PS5 will support those games too. and he has ties in gaming industry.

I wouldn't bet too much on it. For example, we know that GameStop also has some information in the system that never came true. Would be very nice but this could also simply mean PS Now or based on pure speculation.

Hard for them to make them available for download, the original licensing agreements prior to PS3 wouldn't have included digital downloads. Even the PS3 agreements might be specific to the store accessible via PS3. Running from disk (or at least copying files from disk) is the only way to ensure no licensing issues. Basically, if you could find a disk that still works, enjoy.

Let's keep our fingers crossed for PS3/PS2/PS1 backwards compatibility. I'm going to say extra prayers for PS1, even if its via an external usb drive you have to provide yourself (tons of cheap drives already support FreeBSD).

About that 4chan rumor:

1° Mesh Shaders is part of RDNA2, so PS5 doesn't have it is strange. Only possible explanation is if Sony fill all Mesh Shaders engines in Primitive Shaders (Sony talks in Primitive and MS in Mesh) or even in Geometry engine which is part of RDNA2 too.

2° The 30% advantage doesn't make so much sense, in CPU there is no advantage, Sony uses a 3.5ghz CPU and MS a 3.6gz, but MS have a stress of 10% in a one Zen2 Core for the SSD. And against 36CUs vs 52CUs, we don't know how RDNA2 acts with higher clocks, so the difference could be half of the 30%.

If I have other contestation to put here, I will put later.

My personal opnion:

We didn't see any of 4chan rumours being true this year, right ?

The narrative of this rumor is quite persuasive (trying to prove the author info or vision), talks in high differences but not pushes Teraflops (which times ago was the greatest measure of power) but to CUs where the difference is higher than 17% and 30% makes sense. After this the rumor pushes to the PS5 higher clocks to a very huge box which is ugly (what is not a problem, but is a great strategy to try prove your information even if he says it is beautiful) and lastly talks how amazing is PS5 games (and this is how the writer is trying to convince you to belive and why is not a fanboy generic rumor because of the high Xbox advantage talked in the outset). So this for me was write by a xbox fanboy, and to not look like a fanboy, he praised the PS5 so much (why praise so much, for me is to try to hide his fanboy side).

But I belive in the current method to create games (create the conservative assets and textures to run in a HDD) the Xbox will outperfom PS5, but in the new form (using megascan and many polygons) PS5 will have a advantage.

At the end, I can be wrong and the rumor become true. But this is my constestation

I have a lot of PS3 games waiting on my shelves in great condition and would love to play MGS 4 on my PS5 as soon as I buy it. I also still have some PS1 and PS2 games lying around somewhere though I don't know if they are in a readable condition.

I'm telling ya guys, all this new buzz around PS5... The Kraken has awoken.

Sony is cunning; I have a strong feeling they have held back on loads of pivotal stuff about their new console, whispers even boil down to the Duelsense having secrets. I'm not taking things for granted, and I usually don't enjoy other people's misery, but if they also reveal hardware-related things giving the PS5 even more of an edge against SXS I will drink the tears of agonized Xbox fanboys like it was chilled, sweet Kool-Aid on a blazing hot summers eve.

Oh man I’m so excited for the PlayStation 5 reveal!

The Last of Us Part 2 has been really getting the love back to guys who hated it because of the leaks now it is getting lots of recognition again and lots likes and love, and there’s something I pointed out on Twitter and hopefully one of the guys at Naughty Dog can notice me in the next hours, but I have pointed out with a small comparison that I have made with TLOU 2 between E3 2018 VS latest one 2020.

I know, different settings/lighting etc.... But what I want to highlight is the fact that both images retain the same graphics/effects/lighting/textures/reflections pipeline which is what really makes me happy that there is no downgrade, it is more of an upgrade even.

Naughty Dog is amazing! I just can’t believe they have pulled these visuals off a base 1.8 TF with Jaguar CPU console!

Anyways, here’s the comparison...E3 2018 VS Latest one:

—————— E3 2018 ——————

—————— Latest 2020 ——————

Also heres’s another one as well, which is a much better comparison and a like-for-like image comparison, we can see here there’s an even bigger upgrade to the character models, textures and water-on-clothes/faces shaders, it looks NEXT-GEN, it’s unbelievable!

—————— PGW 2017 ——————

—————— Latest 2020 ——————

The game got upgraded visually, it is probably the best looking game I have ever seen! I just want that PS5 4K/60FPS remaster and I’ll gladly double-dip for it! 🔥🔥🔥
I bought the last of on both PS3 and PS4 without a second thought. I would gladly do the same for a PS5 version of the TLOU2. It‘s pro consumer because I want it!

Looks legit, but hey.

'Powerful Design
Any game previously loaded in 100 seconds with PlayStation 5, which is 20 times faster than its previous version, will now be loaded in 1 second.

Thanks to this superior speed, the standard speed is 30 times faster with the 16 GB DDR6 RAM included in the console's design while the games are being processed.'

Hmmm...

Another thing is that you like to talk about theoretical equivalences. Where certainly, if you want to talk about theoretical equivalences then ...

9.2 RDNA2 = 11.5 RDNA = 13.8 GCN
10.3 RDNA2 = 12.9 RDNA = 15.5 GCN
So from GCN to RDNA was 20% in IPC increment and from RDNA to RDNA 2 was 25% of increment... not bad at all

Of course that improvement should vary depending of the set of instruction to run.

You can tell the 4chan rumor is fake from the 1st bullet point where they say PS5 clocks are "unstable" so xbox is better, its an obvious tell that whoever made it up has no clue how the dynamic clocks on PS5 work.
2nd tell is the fact that they keep measuring things in "percentage number better", something fanboys love to do and would mean nothing to developers. what does 30% better on xbox mean? 30% more fun? 30% higher framerate? 30% higher res? 30% higher polycount? They wouldn't be able to tell you because these are all things that will not be consistent between games and cannot be given a percentage number across the board.

...Now let's go to reality, because talking about theoretical power is fine, but it is pure fantasy everywhere. And what Sony was looking for with PS5 was to make that fantasy come true. That dream". And it has succeeded, it has approached practically perfect efficiency points. Because, excuse me for saying, but did you really believe that the games took advantage of the full potential of your graphics cards? Obviously not, never. Surely it is a reality that some will not be able to bear when the time comes (seen what is seen). But let's be serious. I don't buy a product because of the number it says on the box. I buy a product because of how the games work on it. If you are one of the first, then you are deceived in life. And you know what? That maybe better like this, because that way you will be happier.

But the reality is that this is the theoretical reality. You may like it or not. But it is reality. And I tell you and all developers who touch the system tell you. PS5 is a revolution. And that revolution will have tangible results. Regardless of the TFs.

I will emphasize it for clarity. Saying that something is wonderful does not mean that the other is shit. Siemplente are different. But PS5 is different from everything seen so far and represents a change at all levels....

Jesus you sure have a way with words 😁...that's one hell of a roasting . I wouldn't be able to post for a week if I was on the receiving end of that.

Cheers for your contribution, I for one remember that you did not spread any false numbers or hints.

Turkish retailer translation is correct. The site claimed that PS5 will run all games from previous generations, from PS2 to PS4.

Also retailer is important store, like Amazon in Turkey.
If it turns out to be true, the only reason PS1 is not listed would be due to the PS5’s Blu-ray drive not being able to read cd-roms, only up to dvds. PS1 classics from the ps store would still be playable.

You make a lot of assumptions... Specially since we dont have RDNA2 out yet... Do you honestly think, they just clocked it to 2.23Ghz hoping it wasnt unstable? Come on now :messenger_neutral:
Lets say that knowing how everything looked on PC side in GCN and Bulldozer times I wouldn't be surprised. They almost always overpromise.

Lack of PS1 support could actually be the result of not including a diode for CD playback in the BR drive (Xbone and PS4 already ditched these).
Then what's problem with allowing people to play PS1 games they bought for PSP, PS3 and Vita? IF it has BC with PS3, then I'm expecting that I will be able to play all games I bought on PSN.
