A functioning brain.
That or most of them got shipped to Antarctica
Really. Will you functioning brain consider that the US is not PS' largest market? So why would they somehow not ship more to Europe considering 45M of PS4s were sold there, as opposed to NA where only 37M were sold?

Don’t waste your energy. The guy is clearly trolling, trying to wind people up.

Might not be finished yet? Although they must have a decent version that they could at least show. There is so much to say about the OS and UI in case of the PS5. Months ago Sony said it wasn't only games, and they had a lot of cool stuff to show besides games, so wondering what that might be. It's sometimes ignored due to the amount of great games they launched this year, but Sony always has some cool new features for the console itself. E.g. Remote Play. It's going to be cool to see what else they might bring to the table.

Do we know how exactly the air circulation in Ps5 will work? From what I saw I guess the air will exhaust is at the back and the top(vertical) / left-side(horizontal).

Do you think it would be wise to put Ps5 in place of ps4 in my current setup (there is space behind ps4, it's not blocked)?

Only other way will be putting Ps5 behind my TV. In horizontal position I should be able to swap discs by sliding them "under" TV. Maybe in vertical I would be able to slide disc in on the side of TV but dunno.

Anyway I got anxiety putting electronics in tight spots so behind TV should be safer (there is minimal heat from the TV itself as I got one-connect cable and most of the heat comes from the unit on the left from my ps4).

I would put it vertically behind your tv, where you can then slide in the disc as if it's on the side of your tv. That's going to be the best for airflow at least. But you first have to check if it's not weird that you see a part of the console in that space beneath the screen and your cabinet.

Also think about the charging cable of your controller

That looks too tight to insert PS5 gently inside.

What the last few days have showed me is that I do not understand a large group of you. Looking at threads and posts the narrative is that Sony is tightlipped and silent while MS is open, i.e. Sony is bad and MS is good.

XSX and PS5 are machines made for games. That is why we buy them.

Until this week, we have seen hours of footage of games running on the PS5 including several exclusive titles. The most impressive next-gen game - whether you like that type of game or not - is Demon Souls which is a PS5 exclusive and launch title. We had seen roughly one (!) minute of Minecraft gameplay on the XSX. This week we have seen a select group of BC games on XSX hardware with longer playtimes but nothing next gen related including any multi-plat.

We know that the vast majority of PS4 (and Pro) games will run on the PS5. Games require some additional patches/coding to work. We know the same applies to the XSX and hence why only a small group of games are available for the XSX testers right now - the coding for the other games is not done. Same situation for both consoles - narratives totally different on these forums. The key difference is that PS3, PS2 and PS1 games will not run on PS5 but older Xbox games will run on the XSX. That is good work from MS.

So all-in-all Sony is doing much better in the games department and somehow this gets obliterated by the fact that we have seen some YouTuber connect an external SSD to the XSX?

I do not get it.

There's meant to be a wall mount for the PS5... Yet still to be seen.

I particularly liked the double standard of “we can give a blank cheque to MS on their next generation games strategy because ‘reasons...’ so let’s focus on Sony being bad because they do not show extensive YouTube videos on their BC solution that must be crappy because they are not showing it off”... then again this is the brave and bold new world of double standards and hypocrisy only mattering if it is damaging to “the other lot” and not when it is done by the side you cheer on (like football).

It‘s called ‘console warring‘. You may have heard of it.

Fanboys are absolutely unable to criticise the console they like in any way, because that criticism will be jumped on by those who adore the other console... Therefore, both camps sit in their own silos, completely unable to be honest about anything.

Welcome to 2020.

That's because in case of the XSX, there aren't any games to show. I mean there aren't any real exclusives worth showing. It will mostly play 3rd party games, or exclusive games created by small studios. What do you expect them to show?

It would probably be still smart to show those 3rd party games running impressively on Seriex.

I agree, but I think that's in the hands of the other publishers? Not sure about it though. Also Microsoft has a marketing plan set for the next 6 weeks, just like Sony. And they'll probably let those preview people play new games in a couple of weeks, and report on it. They did BC the past week, I expect next up is enhanced first party titles (Gears 5, FH4, etc.), and then at the end games like Valhalla

But, but Demon's Souls was not running at TRUE 4K!!!:mad::mad: /s
I think people expect Sony to follow the same strategy as Microsoft so that's why they expect them to show the same things so they can compare them. But yeah, it's weird they're not showing next gen games running on their high end hardware, not even next gen versions of cross gen games. Just yesterday Yakuza Like a Dragon released a new gameplay running on PS5 despite Microsoft having an exclusivity deal for the next gen version of the game, that's weird tbh.

Sunday the latest.... Will there be suspend and resume, will we see BC games running, will we see the console cold boot faster than a Bruce Lee kick to the face.... Only time will tell. 😋

If it's not finished by now, it means that consoles are being shipped with non-functioning or broken UIs, and they won't work properly unless they are updated by the user. This would require Sony to warn purchasers clearly and in advance, or end up in a lot of legal troubles - when Microsoft shipped consoles that would not run offline without a patch being installed, people knew it before pre-orders opened.

Unless Sony made two drastically different UIs, a basic temporary one to install on consoles and the "final" one to patch in, but this sounds very unlikely to me, since they had years to make something before production, and only 4-5 months between production and launch...

Even if it harms them or the industry itself in the medium term. That's pretty absurd.

There are allot of concern FUD spreaders on new GAF accounts or dormant ones that have come to life with ps5 concern, starting new thraeds to FUD, its easy to spot and laughable.

If such posters believe this behavoir is endearing or makes us like the mS brand, it works the other way. Call out to @X-Fighter and other decent posters.

what nonsense if this? Yakuza 7 has marketing rights or whatever the deal they have with xbox and somehow they can't even show a gameplay running on xbox SX, yet, we got PS5 gameplay first.

you are fecking blind and ignorant and making excuses for xbox for days. how much they are paying you?

So you think that Microsoft send so many media outlets an XSX 2 months before launch (never done before), because games don't work on it? Please...

You still have not seen 1 second of footage, from an unreleased game, captured running on the Series X.

Only old games.

Edit - I'm incorrect, there is footage captured on Series X of 1 obscure indie game. Who knew lol

The console comes out in 6 weeks.

This is a very bad sign.

Edit - This is still a bad sign.

I would put it vertically behind your tv, where you can then slide in the disc as if it's on the side of your tv. That's going to be the best for airflow at least. But you first have to check if it's not weird that you see a part of the console in that space beneath the screen and your cabinet.

Also think about the charging cable of your controller
I'm not so sure about that. The TVs still use plenty of electric for big panels that would hide the Ps5 big boy, and they dissipate their heat out the back. Even in winter mine have always acted as energy efficient electric heaters and are even hotter in summer (with hdr too) so I would want to place the PS5 in its own ambient air, rather than recycled hot air...but maybe OLEDs are different.

I am currently watching this video and it mentions the new CPU. At 4:10 minutes he says that the processing power is a little more than the double ...!?

It's wrong. CPU is around 4x more powerful than the PS4. GPU is over double the PS4 Pro in pure TFLOPS but more in reality considering the efficiency of RDNA2 versus GCN.

Read my original post - my TV has most of it's electronics on the separate box connected by one-connect cable. TV on itself does minimal heat and most comes from separate unit. Check out Samsung one-connect if you are more interested. Heat behind TV is not a problem.

If you're going to spread FUD and console war, try to at least not be so wrong

I was not aware this game existed. My mistake. Not trying to console war.

Very strange that this is the only footage of an unreleased game that was actually captured on the Series X.
Still seems like a very bad sign to me. Indicates the development kit (GDK) is behind.

Why else is Devil May Cry 5 launching without ray tracing on Xbox? (coming later in patch)
Halo was going to launch this year without ray tracing too.

Seems like the hardware is ready to launch but the toolset is giving devs trouble.
And thats why Xbox is only marketing footage of old games, or using PC footage.

Platinumed Sekiro. There wont be another one. I don't think Activ liked the returns.
Beat Blood Borne. Dark Souls 1 & 3 just sitting in my library. Unplayed can't remember why I didn't buy 2.

From Software need to update their tech. They got work to do a lot of people coming for their space. Godfall pretty much sounds like Elden RIng looks spectacular Don't think the boss fights will be From level ,but we'll see. Even that Chinese dev with the Monkey King trailer is coming for From's spot. DMC will always be DMC so they don't count.

FromSoft got work to do next gen though. Elden Ring must not look great if there's still no game footage. Im still waiting on Platinums Babylons Fall that just disappeared from press. Still waiting on Lost Soul aside.

Just waiting on more hack & slash games.
Also, Sony are doing their own Souls and they might expand on it with Bluepoint if DS is a success

A terrible USB controller is in the XSX like Jeff Grubb claims?

At those speeds, it takes up to 40min to backup 200GB/Warfare and copy over another 200GB game. 185MB per second, we are talking slightly better sata1 (150MB+) speeds from 2003.

It could copy it back at nearly twice the speed (345MB/s out of the max. 600MB), no port issue to me. Seems more like Microsoft is pushing the gamer towards the purchase of their seagate expansion nvme, by limiting the speed on non-official drives?

To add to something I said earlier in this thread regarding Demon's Souls and Miles Morales showcase footage:

Those are probably earlier cut trailers than the day of showcase(probably weeks earlier).

Things really start coming together very close to launch and you'll see a lot more visual acuity and improvements as a game gets optimized.

Godfall is a prime example of this, as the most recent trailer of it looks far more impressive than it initially did, both in visuals and gameplay.

The latest batch of Demon's Souls screens from the Digital Deluxe reveal I argue shows improvements as well.

Launch trailers towards the end of October will reveal how much things can change.

It's more likely that MS are intentionally stopping reviewers, who have actual Xbox Series X models, from showing anything other than certain things at certain times as part of their road map.

Right now they are only allowed to show BC, but that will be expanded to the UI, then next gen games at a time agreed on with developers (embargoes etc)

DMC5 getting a post-release patch with RT is on the devs, they aren't putting RT on PC at all, for example. Similarly, Halo Infinite was getting an RT update post-release for PC also. If it really is a struggle with the Series X GDK, then at least it shouldn't be an issue for PC. Other games, however, are confirmed as launching with RT on Series X, such as The Medium.

Your speculation about development issues are impossible to quantify. They may be true, but I think it's far more likely to suggest that MS hasn't shown much next gen stuff simply because it wants to drip feed the information flow leading up to launch.

I personally feel Sony is also following their own road map, which perhaps is the reverse of that of MS.

Wouldn't those copy times just indicate that the USB NVMe drive he used has a really slow write speed?
