Not rooted, but sometimes it either shows up late or doesn't show up at all. My phone somehow skipped the Sept updates at some point.

I wouldn't worry about it. A lot of us posting issues have had our phones for over a year. Plus, the only real reason to post in this thread these days is either for new firmware updates or for issues.

Or a price deal. I was really hoping to see a post about sale or price drop. $450 is still pretty pricy but I would love to upgrade from my S3.

Anyone having problems updating to 7.1.1? I got the notification yesterday. Downloaded just fine but when I went to install it just says "Your system is up to date" and stays at 7.0.

Same thing happened again today.

Anyone else having battery randomly drop to 0% and turn off? It's been happening the past week or two for me with no updates that I can remember.

Seems exacerabated by me starting a game app and then it turning off but it still says 0%. I don't know my % before it happens but I never get the low battery 15% so it has to be over 20% when it dies.

Edit: It was at 50% battery when it did it.

Had something like that happen to me last week. Got a warning it was at 15% then a few seconds later it shut off.

Happened to me once has been happening ever since, google are scum fucks and said well its one month put of warranty try huawei.

Of course they told me it was out of warranty after wiping and factory resetting, cause you know. Fuck me.

My battery has been really crappy recently. Doesn't last nearly as long. Wth.

And it's continued to have a problem where it randomly freezes and then restarts. Anyone know of a solution?

So my 6p is stuck in a bootloop.

I was playing battle cats, the game froze, heard a slight buzzing sound for a few seconds and it turned off. Got stuck at the google screen for a bit, then finally booted. Eventually it reset itself again, and is stuck at the google screen over and over.

Is there anyway for me to back up anything on this phone before I try to factory reset it? I know I have some pictures that never got backed up, and as dumb as it sounds I'd like to try and save my battle cats file, I got pretty damn far in the game, haha.

Without having the bootloader unlocked, or a custom recovery? Not likely. You would have needed to enable adb prior to the loops to even try pulling the correct files by command-line. Sorry

If you end up having to factory reset, you might as well unlock the bootloader so you at least have options if it happens again

Yea everything is stock, no root, bootloader is locked. It won't even boot into recovery mode.

I've had the worst luck with phones recenty...

Thanks for the response!

Did you buy the phone directly from Google? If so, call them up and ask for a RMA. Trying to go through Huwai will just result in them flashing your phone back to Marshmallow and sending it back to you.

No I bought it through Amazon about 9 months ago.

I suppose I'm stuck with RMA through Huawei? That's pretty bullshit if that's what they do.

My Nexus 5x has been suffering from severe performance issues lately - especially in certain apps: Chrome, Snapchat, etc. And now the GPS is acting up.

What should I consider in terms of an upgrade: Nexus 6P or the Pixel? I can get the 6P via google fi for $400. My biggest issue with the Pixel is the cost - is it really worth the extra $250+.

At this point I'd find it hard to recommend the 6p. So many issues are cropping up with so many of them.

So my 6p is stuck in a bootloop.

At some point my 6p snapped out of it and actually booted up. After a few attempts I was able to get everything I needed backed up. It still freezes and bootloops, but at times I can get it working normally for hours before it crashes again. My worry is if I send it back to Huawei it'll work normally and they'll send it right back without doing anything. Is there anything I can do to fix it? I posted about it in more detail in the Android thread but didn't get much response.

Was hoping the update that came through was going to help out my phone. Seems like a lot of people are having issues with this phone recently. Mine randomly restarts sometimes and the battery is also pretty bad now. Its really annoying. And recently discovered that my call log backup at the very least has paused. Not sure if there is a time interval

Only thing I can think of is actually recording proof that is has the boot loop problem but the way you describe it makes it seems like this happens often enough that they should notice it.

I just got my Nexus 6p after my Moto X 2014 died. Good Lord what an upgrade! Anyone with a custom rom care to make a recommendation?

It's getting worse now. Happening at 40% :/ Is there a better company to get a replacement phone? No way in hell I'm buying another Nexus phone.

Where did you buy your phone? I got mine from the Google Store and they gave me a replacement even though my phone was months out of warranty. The replacement phone hasn't had any issues.

Battery hasn't been great still but I think I've at least managed to stop the random restarts I am getting by clearing out the phones cached data every now and then.

Google store online, they don't seem to care.

Strange. I just sent them a picture of my battery graph showing a drop to zero from 40% and they sent me a new phone with no other questions asked. I've read about a bunch of other people doing the same (that's actually what made me contact them to begin with despite being long out of warranty).

I can try again, I did the chat on my phone. Did you go somewhere else to ask about it?

I did the chat on my phone too. This was in mid-January if that matters. I read that Google recognized the battery problem which is why they are doing out of warranty replacements.

Here's a reddit thread talking about it: https://www.reddit.com/r/Nexus6P/comments/5klw6y/problems_with_your_battery_including_random/

Make sure you say you've contacted support already and have gone through all the troubleshooting steps of putting your phone in safe mode.

Ok, let me try again and see what happens.

Good luck. I really hope this isn't something where you have to find a "cool" rep to get something done.

Yeah, they're hemming and hawing about it being out of warranty. This is word for word almost what happened the last time. :/

Edit: They said they can escalate it to a specialist and they'll let me know my fate if they'll replace it in 4-6 hours whether they feel like replacing it or not. Here's hoping :/

Ah damn. At least they haven't outright denied you (yet), hope someone up the ladder has their head on straight.

Yeah, I'm just afraid they way she kept harping on the warranty that they'll wind up charging me a couple hundred bucks to replace it which defeats the purpose but we'll see later tonight. Anything can happen I guess.

Is there no way to get the Official 6P Adopted case? Google no longer has it on their website and it looks like the only way to get one is through eBay and it looks like they're all fakes.

It's been almost 10 hours and no email. Not sure what I was expecting from google -_-

What a load of crap

I bought my Nexus 6P through Project Fi in case that matters (no protection plan or anything extra), but all I did was email them with the Reddit link listed above and a screenshot of this battery issue happening to me (the worst one for me was shutting off at 26%). They first replied back with a generic email saying "try this to make your battery better", but it was just basic stuff that was not relevant to this particular issue. After telling them it didn't fix my issue, they immediately sent me a link to order a replacement device for free and how to RMA my old device.

I did all of this last week, and my phone was 5 months out of warranty at that point. Hopefully they do the right thing for you - it's an issue that Google is aware of and there are many examples of people, including myself, who have been able to get an out of warranty replacement with very little effort.

I cracked my screen, anyone know the cheapest way to repair? I've had it almost since launch, no warranty afaik. I saw a video on how to do it yourself but I'm not confident enough to attempt it. I saw a local repair shop and they wanted to charge me $190 to fix.. Ehh nah. Anyone?

I want it to survive until the Pixel 2

Contact Huawei. They might do it for free.

In other news, Google refunded me the entire price of my 1.5 year old Nexus 6P because of the battery issue. Fantastic. They were offering me a replacement but they wanted to swap my king tier Frost for the peasant Graphite model. I wasn't having it and they had no Frosts. So they refunded me the entire thing.

Oh awesome, I will definitely try that. Luckily I still have my old Nexus 5 that I can use (battery life is horrible though), but with the project fi data sim I put in, I can use it in an emergency.

Heads up, selling my Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X (fresh from factory as a new refurb). If you're interested, pm me. Hate to sell it but got a corp iPhone 7 Plus. Still the best Android phone to date (even edging the Pixel).

I contacted Huawei about it when mine broke and they were going to charge me $163. They were also only going to replace the screen itself, so the chewed up bit of the frame where it hit the asphalt was still going to be chewed up and ugly. I elected to upgrade to a Pixel instead.

Did you have to phone in or is there an email that you can use. I'm at the contact us page re: returning out of warranty things and there's only a phone number listed. Email would be preferable but worst case I could phone I guess.

Phone got caught in a boot loop. Contacted Google's customer support and they were able to get me a refurb phone as an exemption.
