a funny thing about the owners complaints on rookie salaries.... THEY ARE THE FUCKING ONES WHO ALLOWED THIS TO HAPPEN!

i don't side with the players or the owners, they are both greedy millionaire assholes. but are you fucking kidding me owners? YOU are the ones who started this outrageous salary starting point for rookies coming in and now you want a do over. i don't disagree that it has to be re-done but that money then needs to funnel back to the players somehow. ridiculous

I don't disagree, but if they try to reign it in outside of the CBA then they're guilty of collusion. This is pretty much the only way they could address what they think is an issue.

Living in Cincinnati (who is looking at a #1 maybe) this is a real issue. Most people think they are unable to draft a QB with the first overall pick because they would never pay for him.

Exactly.

I missed Goodell's interview with Costas during the pre game last week...what did he have to say about the labor talks?

He outlined what they wanted to change which was the rookie salaries and how they need to get the veterans the big money not the rookies. Costas asked about the 18 games and is it hypocritical saying you want to protect players but want two more games. Goodell just kept saying that fans don't like preseason games and players get injured in preseason as well. They will continue to come up with the very best health care techniques and safety precautions for the players. He said they have to move the league into the future while making sure the players are safe. When asked about contract changes or an extra bye week he said its all being discussed.

Wuss. You should live and die with your team.

I do live and die with my team.
But we need to close the deal first before I resume my posting habits from the last 14 weeks. It seems like being in the thread up until game weekend changed the mojo a little bit, so I'm going to maintain that superstition :lol

Okay so just say it's all about money, you could get rid of 2 preseason games but they don't want to lose that revenue. Fans don't like preseason games but we don't like watching week 19 games with 3rd stringers going against another teams starters (be it from injuries or teams having things locked up already).

This is the first time I've seen someone accuse another member of tag baiting.

Yes.

I wasn't begging for a tag, but that doesn't matter does it?

All that matters is what you think.

Even if you're wrong.

I'm going to be driving to the aeropuerto during the middle of the Vikings/Bears game, is there any way to listen to it on the radio?

Every major city should have a sports station that carries the Monday Night game. Just flip around the dial.

Vikings signed Rhett Bomar from the Giants PS.

Good luck, Rhett.
Yep. Hopefully he can make it to being the #2 for them next season. Heck if they draft a rook he may start unless they keep Ramsey.

Have you guys been keeping up with the Coughlin presser? The twitter updates have been funny.

Mike Garafolo
Help: Coughlin said he told Dodge to "get his dauber (sp?) up." What's that mean? Google of little help right now. Thanks. #nyg

Mike Garafolo
Coughlin asked if part of the talk to the team today was they'll see Eagles again + they played em well. After a head tilt: "Maybe." #nyg

Ralph Vacchiano
How did Coughlin cope with the collapse? "I sat in a room w/the lights out for about 2 1/2 hours," he said. "Its not funny." #NYG

Mike Garafolo
Coughlin said there are "sins" to talk about today. This isn't a press conference, it's confession. 1st sin: his fault no hands team #nyg

Ralph Vacchiano
Eli Manning did something he's never done today: Stood in front of the team by himself and addressed his teammates. Message: Stay positive.

I can't imagine Eli addressing the team. Would anyone take him seriously?

I think the best thing that we could do this offseason is trade a 2nd round pick for Kevin Kolb, and try and get Mark Ingram in the first round.

You don't have a 2nd round pick to trade, you do have Marshall though!

Rhett Bomar? The guy I'm thinking of was an overated QB from Bowling Green a few years ago?

Edit: I was thinking of Omar Jacobs. EXACTLY the same. :D

I don't know how but I've made it to the finals of my fantasy league on the strong backs of:

Lagarette Blount
Mike Tolbert
Jonathan Stewart
I have hit some very extremely lucky streaks with these guys, I'm hoping it continues for one more week. I want to troll all my friends who laughed at my horrible horrible RBs.

His last 2 games has made a fantasy owner very excited..

Im down by 4 with bears defense and a defense player left in one league and another im in the finals..Good Luck those that made or gonna make the finals

Oh I can imagine it just fine.

Problem is that what I imagine is the nerdy kid in elementary school trying to talk to all the cool kids during lunch that only hang around him to copy his homework.

About "get his dauber up", wasn't the Jerry Van Dike assistant coach character in Coach named Dauber or something???

Edit: Nah, it was Bill Fagerbakke :lol

This is even funnier:

http://www.tmz.com/2010/12/20/ny-giants-kicker-matt-dodge-twitter-hatred-spam-hate-mail/

In case you missed the game -- Dodge was supposed to punt the ball away from Philadelphia Eagles star DeSean Jackson in the final seconds of a tied up game ... but he didn't ... and Jackson scored.

After the game, another guy named Matt Dodge was blasted with Twitter hate mail -- people calling him a "chode blaster" and advising him to go into the witness protection program.

Matt Dodge (not the punter) responded, "Whoa, just got hella twitter spammed thanks to that gawtdamn NY Giants punter, also named matt dodge. Think he'll buy my account?"

:lol :lol :lol

He convinced that one company that he can sell watches so maybe he can be really persuasive*.

* His ability to persuade obviously stops at getting a girl to take her pants off.

Should the Bears blitz the fuck out of the Vikings???

I say they should at first and see what happens.

I expect the Vikings to run the ball most of the time though.
Nah, the kid runs better than he throws so you want to make him throw it. Don't give him the chance to find a seem or the edge.

Hadn't heard an update on it. You know he'll be knocked out in the first quarter right?

He is risen! All glory to the stump! You can't kill Zombie Favre! He's already dead.

Would love to be a fly on the wall in that meeting. Strahan has said when ELi wants to, he can get really pissed off and scream at players like Peyton. Wish he showed that side more... or ever.

Rorschach said:
You guys will need Flynn if Rodgers keeps hurrying back from concussions. He'll be Trent Green'd before you know it. :(

No proof that time heals concussions or increases the risk of getting reconcussed (maybe a word, no idea, too many concussions). These NFL rules are pure CYA for when they get sued by the NFLPA in 10 years when real research exists.

Plus, look how good Flynn was and he never played. Slotting in a QB is simple. Don't know why you guys complain so much.

He'll never show it on the field. The most demonstrative I've seen him was in New Orleans last year when he was ripping Bradshaw a new one for totally missing a blitz pickup.

Yeah, they're supposed to be isolated incidents, but tell that to the players who are more prone to them than others.

Flynn really wasn't all that great. All hyperbole aside, he made 1 great throw and then he managed the game for the most part. It was impressive for a young QB getting his first start, but he wasn't that good.

He's still better than Brady, though!

Whatever good Flynn did he made me forget all of it by his horrid clock mismanagement in the last minute of the game.

And Rodgers will be fine. The Packers just have to fit him with one of those tard helmuts they give to guys who get too many concussions. They have more padding, are better fitted and have some holes on the top (I am sure there are other features as well). I think Ben has only had one concussion since being fitted with one and he gets hit a ton. A couple other players wear them too.

Since there is no downside to wearing one what I don't get is why more players don't wear them?

24/37 250 3 td's?

I'll take that from a game manager. Plus, he can only play the role they gave him. He looked damn impressive on some of his throws. The roll out hitting Jones for the first on 3rd and 8 was a great throw. He showed pro arm strength and for the most part read the defenses well. His struggles were clearly a result of nerves (understandable) and talent.

Obviously this is hyperbolic because it was only one game, but if you're telling me you'd rather have Grad'ski/Campbell than Flynn I am going to call you a liar.

The last minute wasn't Flynn's fault. McCarthy didn't get a play in because he thought they got the first and expected Flynn to spike the ball. That's why Flynn was yelling and gesturing at the sidelines.
