Damn, Troy is going to be out against the Jets.

I could see Edwards beasting on us over the top if Sanchez gets time. This game also means a lot more to the Jets. The Ravens will probably lose to the Saints and if that happens the Steelers just need to beat the Browns to secure the 2seed and the division.
I need to ask you something, I have seen exactly .5 Ravens games this year, is there D still any good? Feels like every time I check they give up a ton of points (Houston, ATL, Bills).

No, you are wrong. We match up well against them. Brady likes those little swing passes to the RB's, we stop those and we can stifle them. Our LB squad is pretty good. They don't have an up the middle RB. We can play ball control and keep them off the field.
I think the Falcons can hang with the Pats this year.
I haven't watched a lot of Falcons games this year, has their run D gotten any better? The last 2 times the Pats played them, all I remember is Fred Taylor running them over easily.

Their front Seven is beastly. It's their secondary that sucks.

WTF. I didn't realize the Eagles drafted Jamar Cheney from Mississippi State. He was on a long (Like fucking LONG) list of MLBs I wanted with this draft. Let's see what this guy's got, I expect him to get paved over by our Gs since we run so much Power, especially with Jacobs.

All I ask is that the Giants run all goddamned day. We run, we win!
So any good MLB's this draft?

Not really. The fucking panthers ran for like 212 yards or so last week. I believe they gave up 170 yards in the 3rd quarter alone.

:lol Grossman's starting for the Skins this weekend.

WTF?
Shanarat is a fucking idiot. He has to be out of Washington after this season is over but he won't be. McNabb has been awful, but favoring Rex Grossman? This man has a sick, twisted mind.

Kelvin Sheppard, Quan Sturdivant, Greg Jones, Dont'a Hightower. This draft's deeper at OLB. Start studded class at that position, especially compared to last year.

We'll be fine. Falcons have been tough against the run for the whole of the season with the exception of last week's 3rd quarter. Seemed like the ends got caught inside on most of those plays.

They are still good, but if you are patient and have the right personnel you can score on them. Their biggest weakness (which I think is also shared by the Jets) is that they gamble too much. They also have some really talented players (Ngata at times is unblockable and Scott is a handful as well and Reed and Lewis are not what they were but they are still good), but if you get time through good blocking or deception you can get big plays on their secondary.

But the gambling thing works both ways. Sometimes it works out really well and their defense will score 14 points.

The key to beat the Ravens is to focus on getting first downs through short yardage and definitely to take some shots at the right time. Their run defense has been average this year as well, but you can't just run up the middle every time. If you want to run you will have to be creative in your play calling and blocking schemes.

So whose legacy is going to be more damaged at the end of this season? Shanhan or McNabb?

I vote Shanahan. I think DMac can still be a starting qb in the right situation. Shanahan as effectively destroyed the entire team and it really didn't even take him that much time. He can also kick his son's shot at ever being a HC gone.

Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan will bench quarterback Donovan McNabb in favor of Rex Grossman this Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, according to team sources.

Players are genuinely upset by the move, as I reported all week they would be, if the benching occurred.

Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan is using McNabb as a scapegoat, according to multiple players. Shanahan's credibility has been questioned by players and others on the staff, according to team and league sources.

"The guys are extremely pissed," one Redskins player told me.
:lol

Maybe Shanahan realizes he's fucked by working with the Skins, can probably get out of his contract by shitting on McNabb. What if Grossman throws 3 picks? Brilliant strategy. You have to admire Shanahan. That shitty team and he picks on McNabb and Fat Albert. Was McNabb the one who allowed the blocked kick? I'm sure McRibb wasn't on the field when Vick torched them for 30+ points in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, he installs a new defense and the D goes in the shitter.

Fill in the blanks:

Wow, McNabb was real impressive against a top __ defense in the ______ ______ in week _ .

And see how many of those statements are true.

I just wish we had a younger qb to try out instead of grossman.

Miller might miss another week too. It's true the Steelers don't need this one as bad as the Jets do, but it'd be nice to have a spot locked up with the Panthers and Browns left so they can rest some guys in those games. And the offense needs a ton of work, would be nice to see them put something together to build on against the Jets. Plus, it's a home game, get that crowd into it.

Shanahan is a moron.

Though he was right to bench Haynesworth this is ridiculous. McNabb has definitely had an off year but his receivers can't catch very well, the line is worthless, and the running backs are old.

I guess its all good for McNabb since there are plenty of other teams hungry for a quarterback that would probably pick him up.

Yeah regardless of whether we wrap up the 2 seed or not, the Steelers offense should be required to play every position for the rest of the season. The offensive line needs to get as much playtime as possible. I am still praying that Scott somehow becomes an NFL player in the next month (and lets be honest, that is only going to happen through the power of prayer).

Keiland Williams and Ryan Torain are 24 years old. Torain in particular has a bright future if the Redskins could put together an offensive line worth a damn. Speaking of which, is Shannahan going to bench the entire offensive line as well for the travesty they call pass protection?

Honestly, as a Giants fan I suppose I should be enjoying the continued dysfunction in Washington but at this point I just feel bad for fans who have to sit through it every year.

In his defense, it is pretty hard to navigate the internet with a paper bag over your head.

You could say that about a lot of the guys on the redskins. But the point shouldn't be lost: Shanahan decided to bench one of the most important guys on the offense when it's clear everyone in the organization is having a bad year. And he decided to change the defense, which pissed off Fat Albert. FA is a douche but I think good coaches wouldn't install a new offense w/o consulting the $100 million man. Think any new coach could go into New England/Indy and change the offense w/o Peyton or that other guy signing off on it? It's a legitimate topic and Shanahan isn't developing the team to suit the guys on the actual team.

That's the coaches fault and I think Shanahan should be fired. Or get Zombie Terrel Davis to suit up. And the cheating Denver O line from the 90's.

Basically. I feel bad for them. Post that clip of the radio host going off. Everybody rips Philly fans but it's painful to see other fans in bad situations with bad coaches and owners.

It is more amazing that they've won 10 games with that line this year than the 12 they won with 08's line. I'm hoping they improve too, but sadly I don't see Scott improving at all.

I really think Arizona would be a good place for Don. With the receiving talent the Cardinals have in Fitzgerald and Breaston, he could make a difference in that offense. They have plenty of other issues to address (defense has gone downhill), but it would be a good move and I believe he owns a home there.

I'm sure Minnesota will be another likely team in the mix for his services after he's finished in Washington. Killer run game with Peterson with a solid offensive line and talent like Harvin and Sydney Rice to throw to.

um what, pretty sure Shanahan changed the offense w/o consulting anyone. Why would they consult a member of the defense that has only been here one year, cmon that is outright stupidity right there. Btw Fat Al contract is only 40 mil, not this 100 mil bogus number. I wish they had just said, "look we gonna be shitty this year and a lot of guys are going to play".

I can't believe I've missed what's gone down in Washington...I completely missed whats happened.

If Rex really is starting then Mike Shanahan should be fired, not because he isn't a good coach, but because he's a coach that has shown that has exactly zero interest in going through the slow development and maturation of a rebuilding football team given his age and tenure, which is reasonable.

I have not seen the details...the press conferences, reasoning or otherwise but he should be gone. The Redskins should have a draft pick for Haynesworth right now, and draft picks if not Sam Bradford/Jason Campbell instead of Donovan McNabb right now. He came into the situation and thought he could just patch this shit up, sneak into the playoffs and run off a win...it's the only reasonable explanation for his off-season moves and complete lack of patience for a team that clearly has a severe lack of talent in an overpowered division (perhaps not a ton of post season success, but there's no way any of you guys would want to play Dallas, the Cowboys, and the Giants twice a year).

Donovan should be allowed to leave after this season, Snyder should apologize to the fan base and be vocal about a rebuild that will result in rings if they are patient, and bring in a quality up and coming head coach in the vein of Haley, Spagnolo, Harbaugh that are qualified as head coaches but are young enough to have the vigor and patience to bring a team out of a bad situation.

An entire youth movement is necessary. Get rid of franchise names like Cooley, Portis, and Moss. Keep a level headed guy like Fletcher but realize he probably won't be on your superbowl winning squad.

Basically...REBUILD YOUR FUCKING TEAM. Don't patch it up.

Snyder is coming out of this thing looking unbelievably bad.

I wouldn't mind it if we got him for the right price. Right now we need someone to be a steward for the position while we rebuild and try to find a franchise QB. We're not going to be competitive for a while.

P.S. I wouldn't be surprised of Sidney Rice declines to come back.

The line in 08 actually got better as the year went on. They were probably as bad as this one at the start of the year. The problem this year is that our line already peaked in the first month or two and has gotten worse seemingly every week since then.

And on Scott, try the power of prayer brother. Sometimes if you believe in something enough it will end up happening. Lately I am praying for Tom Brady and Bellicheat to spontaneously combust. It hasn't happened yet but I am not giving up hope yet! Especially when the less likely miracle of that Eli upset happening. All through the power of prayer!

I want him to go to Miami or New York. They are both talented and are missing a professional level qb. Plus New England needs some freaking competition in that division.

Yeah this is a bad idea.

But I agree in principle of flexing the game out if Rodgers doesn't play but I think they have to flex out it a lot sooner than Saturday.

Games I'd rather see:

New Orleans @ Baltimore
Philly @ NY will determine the NFC East
Jets @ Steelers
Jacksonville @ Indy since its pretty much the game that determines who wins the AFC South.

As much as I love seeing the Packers beaten down, the NFL is pretty stupid for not putting one of these games on instead.

I can see why Shanahan would bench Mcnabb, even though he gives the Skins a better chance to win no way are they going to pick up his option now. They need to know if Rex has anything left, can he be a stopgap guy for a year of 2 while a young QB learns. If not then they need to grab a QB in FA this year to hold things down while the QB they draft early develops. Th lack of talent on O for them is a joke, but still when guys do get open Mcnabb rushes throw at their feet. The Skins desperately need a QB that will be more consistant. Their players dont get open enough that they can afford to throw away the times that they do. Mcnabb needs to go to a new team as well, he doesnt look right at all. He looks like he is constantly panicing, even when there is no pressure on him.

Miami wouldn't be out of the question since they obviously don't believe Henne is the future. They have talent on their offense to boot.

You and I both know the Jets aren't giving up on the Sanchize any time soon.

th_gdubrams.gif

Been looking for this one for a while now :lol

McNabb has been as good as he possibly could with the horrible offense he has in Washington. McNabb probably has the worst offensive weapons in the league surrounding him. The Redskins entire offense collapsed around him and he's still been pretty decent. Thinking that Rex Grossman will somehow do better is hilarious.

I think cooley is gone after this year too. I think shanahan likes to run a tight ship and cooley's been a little to open w/ the media.

whenever anyone names a "unnamed source" i always assume its cooley.

Aren't the 30 other NFC East night games each year enough for you?

I dont think they can flex games the week of. They would have had to do it before Rodgers suffered his concussion last week.

I know for a fact that at least 5 of Dons interceptions are because of his receivers. With that said, he's been lackluster this season.

But Shanahan doesn't value true rebuilding, and for that reason alone he should go. If he did he'd have gotten a pick for Big Al, and kept the picks that he gave away for Don. Jason Campbell would have been just fine to keep while they built up through the draft over the next few years.

I am not so sure about that. Rex is definitely in his corner, but the Jets are a fickle and poorly run organization. They are built to win now and if they somehow miss the playoffs Sanchize is going to get all of the blame.

Things might get ugly real quick. Hell the Giants fans are already turning on Eli in here and he won a SB just 3 years ago.
