We need someone that can play on the wall in the top 6. Center hasn't been as big of a problem. Both are huge needs.
Kane+ for Vanek+ is something I'd definitely entertain. I've been a big fan of Vanek since he was playing in the USHL and always wanted to see him playing for the 'Hawks.A Vanek for Kane trade, straight up, wouldn't be an unfair proposition. They're similar players, statistically. I actually like Vanek though... so I'd be apprehensive to send him out.
If a deal was done, though, and I was GM, I'd have to throw Sekera in just to sweeten it![]()
No one wants Keith Ballard
If we are going to pick up a big name (contract) type player, I think Getzlaf would be a better fit... and we all know how much Burke likes to deal with Anaheim. As good as Bozak has been at times with Kessel/Lupul, he is really at his best on the rush and isn't as good as controlling the puck in the zone. I think a center like Getzlaf (basically Sundin Jr.) could help make that line be even more productive than it has been.Nash is probably the perfect player for the Leafs' needs, but the contract. He'd replace Kulemin on the second line easily and then some.
Exactly.
Apparently though he seems to be a part of every trade rumor that Vancouver would make. :/
Obviously, the concept of negative value is not a well known one.
Rick Nash is a trending worldwide on twitter right now. I'm hoping he'll actually go to a team of consequence, I don't like seeing talent stashed away on shitty teams.
I don't think I want to find out.So what your saying is Ballard for Gomez then or is that like dividing by zero?

Or it could kill the chemistry and we'll fall out of the playoffs... who knows.
Getzlaf is really, really bald.
I agree that Anaheim would be foolish to trade him, unless there are off-ice issues at play like Richards/Carter last year. If he is on the block though, Burkie better make a strong play for him.Getzlaf is a beast. He has a lower cap hit and shorter contract than Kessel and is a much better player, so it's not a big contract at all. He isn't going to be traded.
That only solidifies my position of him being Sundin Jr.Getzlaf is really, really bald.
Believe it or not the big 3 are on the chopping block with MVPerry being the Grand prize. You'd have to give up a top line member plus picks and your first born for Perry. Truth be told, Anaheim can't go through a rebuilding year which is why Murray has stressed that he doesn't want just prospects or 1st round picks alone. Lubo is one of the safest trades to make considering they're putting a lot of hope on the shoulders of Fowler and Sbisa and would render a good return. Bobby is tricky because he's a huge fan favorite but he is another that can be considered a safe trade because you still have Getzlaf and Perry.I'm more interested in seeing how the Ducks are after this away streak and if they will end up being sellers. I wouldn't mind getting Viz and Teemu if they were sellers (well if Teemu would waive to come to Detroit). Possibly revolving around Stuart+ as he wants to go back to the west coast for his family, idk Heretic or Dastardly, if you guys do end up being sellers what would you be thinking?

Ducks aren't deep so any trade is going to hurt at this point unless a huge fleecing happens.
Guys I would love to see as Ducks are Malkin, Letang, Gaborik, Lucic, or Kesler. I think we need players like Oshie or Benn,
Also the Ducks have been playing really well.
the GM trading for Nash will be in the driver's seat. NMC + huge salary is no good for Howson.
I'd love Eric Staal on the Leafs even with his 8.25 cap hit for 4 more years. World class player. There have been rumors, but I don't think he's going to be traded either.![]()

Eh, he's a salary dump. We pretty much have to move him if we want to take on a big contract player back.

I'd love the Wings to get any one of those 3 for the stretch run, but I doubt it will happen. I'm just excited to see what Holland does with the $6M in cap room they have, which means they can afford $17M in players, since they only have to pay what's remaining for the year on the contract.
:lol true. he'd probably be waiting for you at your home with a stick that had a sharpened steel blade at the end.I don't think he'd let you live long enough to make that claim.
Speaking from experience this is good for a 5 game winning streak. On the plus side, if Chicago actually does lose tonight, that should be enough to get rid of at least an assistant coach. Mike Kitchen preferrably
While I'm sure that Nash will command a hefty sum in return, I have to wonder how this will impact the Columbus franchise as a whole if they trade away their most marketable player.

EDIT: Looks like Rick Nash is officially available now.

Then why did you post it as if it was credible and worthwhile?Oh, I am more than well aware that Kypreos is likely very full of shit. That was pretty much my first thought when I heard it:
"Is this guy some kind of idiot?"
"getting jimmy howard back is our deadline acquisition"I'd love the Wings to get any one of those 3 for the stretch run, but I doubt it will happen. I didn't, I posted it as an interesting thought, despite it being an insane far stretch. Then why did you post it as if it was credible and worthwhile?

Just saying. If you think a rumour is "likely very full of shit", maybe that should be a caveat at the beginning or end of your post, if it's even worth posting.I didn't, I posted it as an interesting thought, despite it being an insane far stretch.
Ballard is a top-4 defenceman on almost every other team. His $4.2M salary is on par with most salaries. He just hasn't been utilized to his full potential here. He's a great skater and could be a decent offensive defenceman (I wouldn't know since he's never used on the Canucks PP). He's also 29.
Teemu has an NMC. But poor Lubomir does not.Like I had mentioned, I wouldn't mind Lubo and Teemu if something around Stuart+ can be done. I would hate to lose Stuart but I don't think he is going to resign after this year because of his family so I wouldn't mind sending him back west for at least some compensation.
Now Brooksie is reporting NYR have kicked the proverbial tires. Says it's a "longshot". Shit is crazy. I just want to wake up and have it be Feb. 28th already, I'm sick of all these fuckin' rumors.
