NHL February |OT| FIRE ALL THE THINGS

I like how the Leafs are the complete opposite of what Burke promised. I wish we had truculence, testosterone, belligerence, pugnacity, etc.

MacArthur, Brown, Komisarek, Armstrong, and maybe Lupul are the only ones with any balls on this team.

Kessel only has ball

Will it really matter? They aren't marketing very well if they have the 5th worst attendance.

But that's something that's only started to crop up this year. Previous years, the attendance was pretty good but the Blue Jackets have appeared in one playoff series since they came into the NHL and the fans are tired of seeing a losing product. Now add to that the possibility of trading the face of the franchise, what does a CBJ fans have left to cheer for?

^ Speaking of which, finished this season in Be a GM mode in NHL 12, and Nail was all the way down as a 3rd round pick and out of all of the teams to pick him up, it was Edmonton. :/

NHL 12 has an awful scouting rating system, wish they would actually update that along with rosters and so on.

His NTC will limit the return a bit I think.

Possible double post since it is not easy handling multiple quotes on a tablet. :-P

Anyways, I'm sure his contract is also something that might be a problem but Nash will still be able to command an active young player and a 1st round pick (and probably a bit more) despite all that.

Watch Burke drop Komasarik, Kadri and Kulemon on Nash, and I will eat my dick.
:lol :lol that package isn't within 10 miles of something columbus would be looking for, and Nash has said he does want to play in big crazy hockey markets so I doubt he goes to a Canadian team anyways, honestly I doubt he even gets moved.

I'm not saying it won't be a decent return, but a Kings Ransom for an unhappy player who can veto any trade? I don't think so.

1st round pick? Absolutely.
A Level Prospect? Yes
Young Roster Player? Yeeeep.

More than that? Can't see it, unless the more is a salary dump.

"Habs 1 of 4 teams with 4 40+ point scorers...others are Detroit, San Jose, and Chicago."
At least we've accomplished something

I know but he managed to get Lupul out of Anaheim for nothing and suckered Boston on giving up Colborne and a 1st rounder for Kaberle. a guy who has been on 4 different teams in the past 12 months.

And I agree.

What I was essentially saying was that there is no way for Columbus replace Nash if they trade him away (i.e. A franchise player which you can build around and market.)

As for Nail, I'm not saying he isn't the real deal, because he is, but you are essentially telling Columbus fans that they have to buy into more years of losing and tanking before it all pans out and I don't know if the fans have the patience.

@Cake Boss: I'd love Nash in Ottawa, but I really doubt Murray is going to want to pay that kind of price for him. Hell, neither would I.

Have you seen the team? They need to napalm it. Keeping Nash around, even while adding Nail, doesn't make them a much better team. Especially when you have players that don't want to be there anymore.

Nail will be their Franchise player. As will Ryan Johansen and whoever else they draft in the coming years. They tried to cut corners, it blew up in their face.

Carter and Nash will most likely be gone. Maybe not within 2 weeks, but probably at the draft/during the off season for sure.

For sure. You've accomplished having zero scoring depth.

Code:
PLAYER GP G	A	PTS
Max Pacioretty, LW	54	23	20	43
Erik Cole, RW	57	21	21	42
David Desharnais, C	57	11	30	41
Tomas Plekanec, C	57	12	28	40
Andrei Kostitsyn, RW	47	12	12	24

No team is getting Nash without getting raped on their end, just because he's been in Columbus some people downplay how good he can actually be.

Disgusting rich.

I imagine then flying down the ice with crisp 100 dollar bills falling out of their pockets as they tear the league up with goals.

Richards to Gaborik to Nash for a Goal, Then all 3 remove their gloves and make it rain, throwing $100 bills in the opposing defense and goaltender's faces, Put on sunglasses, and roll by the bench for some pounds.

I know but he managed to get Lupul, and Gardiner and conditional pick dependent on Lupul's games played out of Anaheim for nothing and suckered Boston on giving up Colborne and a 1st rounder for Kaberle. a guy who has been on 4 different teams in the past 12 months.

I still love that Anaheim trade, it's the trade that keeps on giving! :D

"ARLINGTON, Va. – Washington Capitals forward Mike Knuble says if he’s not part of the team’s immediate plans, then it might be best to send his talents elsewhere."

Does anyone really want Knuble, maybe as playoff-depth?

As long as his health isn't a concern, I could see him being picked up for a mid round pick to play on someones 3rd/4th line.

He's great to have screening the goalie. All of his goals are pretty dirty and ugly. It's a shame his last season he's been bad when last season he was great.

He'll be a UFA in the summer anyway, with a 2.0M Cap Hit... might be useful for some veteran presence for a playoff team that doesn't have it.

From a pure team-building standpoint, I agree 100%. But from a team marketing perspective, Columbus have put all their eggs into Rick Nash. Letting him go means they have to go back to the drawing board and while I am sure that Nail is a marketable player, it doesn't happen overnight. Plus don't forget that Columbus is hosting the All-Star game next year, it'll be a tough sell if the face of the franchise is no longer with them.

Now, I am not saying they shouldn't trade Nash just because of the All-Star game, but they've invested a lot of marketing dollars into him and I am sure that will weigh into their decision if they have to ponder an offer over.

The team you are talking about is on the ice for CBJ every night right now. Not exactly a marketing juggernaut as is. Wont be next year with him either. The franchise has no face right now. It's barely an NHL club.
Trading Nash for a package that adds cheap, young, skilled depth to an in debt club, and starts a rebuild might be more exciting than watching one player try to win the game for the team every night instead of watching a team on the ice. Especially when that player, by all accounts, doesn't want to be there.

Nail Yakupov. 1st overall. Thats the new face of the Columbus Blue Jackets. Market him. He'll be as electrifying as Ovechkin was. He's got All-World Skill and the personality to go with it. He also won't cost them 7.8 million in real dollars per year.

Zibanejad + Foligno+ 1st?

WTF you don't draft all these promising players and then trade them. We don't do that here, you got us mistaken for that other team in Ontario.

I don't want any shortcuts, they should just stick the course, we're not anywhere near contention yet, don't trade for a guy who's 28.

Watch Yakupov bolt for the KHL if he's drafted by Columbus.

No way, Nail did it the white way and came over to North America to play. No way he'll bolt back to Russia.

Bernier penner hunter and a pick according to Eklund

Followed by the Immediate Firing of Scott Howson I'd presume.

Bernier - Good Piece
Penner - makes no sense. Is a UFA next year, and he sucks.
Hunter - see Penner
Pick - Probably a 1st

So really this is Bernier and a 1st for Rick Nash?

Another Eklund classic

Thank christ. I was always worried that Gauthier was going to go for Penner.
:lol same, I'd hang myself if he picked up Penner, Eklund says its a strong rumor hes looking for 100% confirmation but he was right with Richards and the kings.

Penner is a UFA at the end of the season. He's a meaningless piece, would just free up cap space so they could get Nash. The BJs would have no problem taking him for the remainder of the season.

Problem with this fictional trade is that the return is awful. Only desperate Kings fans should believe this.
