Looks really bad on paper, but half of those teams have been struggling and losing to anyone/everyone.

I'm not "getting" this Jason Blake hate...

Everybody that isn't a Ducks fan laughs at him, but without him we were in the doghouse...

He may not be the 40 goal scorer anymore but he tries really hard.

Can't believe he was capable of that. I don't even want to know what kind of contract he would get at this point for 40 goals...

I still remember an interview he gave after he signed with the Leafs. He essentially said his 40 goal year was a fluke and he probably wouldn't repeat it.

There were a lot of D: D: D: to be had that day.

Im biased, but that DVD is awesome.

The Wings will lose eventually, and the Nucks still have those games in hand, its just a matter of time.

Chicago's tanking on purpose so they face the nucks in the 1st round and we get another epic play off series.....not sure how I feel about that.

Well to be fair, if you played 2 more games and won them to tie us in points and in games played, we would still be above you guys in the standings. But alas, there is still plenty of hockey and more room for trash talk for another month or 2.

Brad Marchand: "Went On A Bit Of A Tear"

Pierre Mcguire said today on TSN 990 that Chara told him at the All Star game that he had to sit Marchand and Sequin down before this season and tell them to make sure they're shit is straightened out, and it seems to have worked. Don't think anyone's surprised, how do you not celebrate like that when you win the cup at that age.

Pretty sure the Sharks aren't on his list. I heard it was Vancouver, LA, Toronto, NYR, and Philly.
Seems like Philly and NYR have the best chance of landing him, it would definitely make the east more interesting, and force a lot of GMs to make moves to combat it.

I wasn't really hating on him. Just trying to make a pointless joke.

Fair enough. I'm just butthurt because of how underrated his skills are. Most people just see the 40g --> 15g transition and leave it at that. He brings a great finish, hard work ethic, a lot of energy and fits on any line. Stick him on the first line in Columbus? Bam - goal...

The Ducks really were lost without him throughout all those games, and it showed.

He may not be the 40 goal scorer anymore but he tries really hard.

Thank you.

Nowadays? That would land you a 6m contract :S

Incidentally, who were his line mates in NY?

Vancouver? The fuck are we going to clear up space?

I doubt he ends up here, I'm just saying I heard we're on his (very short) list of teams he'd waive his NMC to go to.

I would put LA at the top of the list to land him. I read a few days ago that they'd consider dealing Johnson if it brought in a piece to fix their scoring problems. If Bernier and Johnson form the base of a deal, I can see LA landing Nash.

Fair enough.

In terms of where Nash ends up, I'd put Rangers near the bottom to be honest. If they want Nash, they're going to have to move a big piece, and considering how dominant they are now, I don't think they want to risk ruining the good thing they've got going on right now.

As for the Kings, Bernier and Johnson would be a VERY good starting package for Nash, but it really fucks up their backend. Losing their good backup and a top defensemen won't help them that go deep in the playoffs. They might be better off going for a cheaper Carter to boost up their offensive than overpaying for Nash.

Philly likely won't bite because they should be good on offense and are likely holding out for a top defensemen to replace Pronger.

Sadly enough, I think if the Leafs are on his list, they've got the best chance. They've got the cap space to make it work, they've got plenty of young cheap defensemen and assets to move into Columbus and they could build their future team around Nash if he goes there. The only problem there is that they still lack any decent top six centerman.

As for Vancouver, I think on paper, we have the assets available that could appeal to Columbus. Schneider's obviously the obvious one and the second coming of Hodgson has made him valuable again. If Columbus wants to rebuild, the Canucks certainly can sell our farm to them in exchange for Nash. The problem is, I don't want the farm to be traded. I want to keep Tanev and Hodgson because I think they're the future of this franchise and we have to keep looking at that. Nash would be nice, but in the long scheme of things, he's a luxury to us, not a need. But to other teams like Toronto and LA, he's a need and they'll overpay far more than us to get at him.

DO SOMETHING, BRIAN BURKE! PLEASE!

Thankfully for the Leafs, it doesn't seem like any of the teams below them want to get into the playoffs all that badly, either.

Activity leading up to the NHL's Feb. 27 may finally be picking up, as Minnesota Wild defenceman Marek Zidlicky has agreed to waive his no-trade clause to go to the New Jersey Devils.

According to TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger, Zidlicky's move does not mean a trade has been completed as there is still work to be done

Seems something is happening finally.

Feels adequate man.

I'm pissed off about this slide they're in but at the same time I keep remembering where we came from the previous years. This is leaps and bounds better than any of the last seasons. At least we're only worrying about 1 or 2 teams as opposed to 4 or 5. And as you said despite all that we are still in a playoff spot.

In the short run this losing streak is driving me crazy but when I step back and look at the whole picture I don't feel as bad. If you told any Leafs fan at the start of the season that with under 30 games to go we'd still be in a playoff spot I'm sure most of them would be happy.

so he's got all these kids' toys...ok, whatever.

but then he takes them on the team plane with him? what for? does he stage epic battles mid-flight? "hey you guys, check out my schweet action figures!"

imagine how his teammates roll their eyes when he's not looking.

disgusting behavior. definite mental issues.

Seriously. He has 4 spyro figures there but no grass type, he's missing out on all the upgrades in the levels.
:lol

I heard Thornton and Heatley used to get in fights over who got to play with the G.I. Joes and who got to play with the He-Man toys. That's why Heatley was traded.

I'm all with you, but how do you ship them out at this point? I'd like to blast probably 70% of the roster, but who would take them?

I like our top 3 D in Myers/Ehrhoff/Regehr. The rest, I don't care either way. I would try and sell Leopold at the deadline. Drop Gragnani at the end of the year and let McNabb and Brennan play full time next year.

For forwards, there's Vanek and then everyone else. I'm just lukewarm with Pommer. We're not moving Leino or Stafford with those contracts. Boyes/Gaustad/Hecht all have expiring contracts. I wouldn't invite any of them back (maybe Goose at half the salary, which won't happen). Kaleta could stay or go - don't really care. Find a partner and trade Roy. He's moveable. I don't need equal value.

After that you have about $15M in cap space to grab a few free agents that bring some size and grit to the team. I'm thinking guys like Shane Doan, Chris Kelly, and Shawn Thornton.
