The coach is always an easy scapegoat. He also hasn't had much success here (if you call this season a success), the special teams have been terrible for his whole tenure except for a couple of months this season. It used to be the coach, the GM, and Kessel. Kessel and Burke have silenced the critics a bit, but they still get it at times. The people that get paid the most, the captain, the starting goalie, GM, and coach on any losing night get downgraded. On winning nights the show can get mind numbingly optimistic.

I know people complain about Connolly, Komisarek, Lombardi and Armstrong but they really are the Leafs best options right now. Their biggest negative are their cap hits which are all gone after next season (and Komisarek in two years).
Connolly (Colborne: would rather him play big minutes in the AHL, Boyce: good grinder but probably best on the 4th line and has been hurt)
Lombardi (Frattin: good player but AHL time will benefit him the best, he has played well down there. Kadri: ditto)
Armstrong has been hurt and that's his biggest issue.
Komisarek is in the press box. Aulie and Holzer should be playing.
Leafs can be shut down pretty easily (not versatile at all offensively) and these three guys give the best opportunity for offensive support. And of course there are injuries and you need guys that can come in and play and then go back down to the AHL.
