True, but didn't the Blackhawks pretty much lose Byfuglien because they couldn't move Huet to the minors by the cap compliance date?

0 Cups.
;P

Never had a season under 30 wins playing behind shit teams. Vezina lock this year. He's worth his money and then some.

First... I hate your new avatar because you're more difficult to pick out when scanning posts.

Second... the 'hawks would fleece Buffalo if it was Miller + Van for Kane + Crawford. I'd say Miller + Stafford = Kane, or even Vanek for Kane would be an even trade. But I don't think Van is on the market... he's been one of our best two forwards this year, and for the last couple years.

First, the awesomeness of each and every one of my posts should be more than enough to make them stand out. ;)

Second, I've said twice now that there would be additions/subtractions/picks/prospects needed for any deal even close to that. Vanek for Kane is interesting though. Other pieces would be needed on both sides but I think that's a far more workable base than Miller-Kane.

Isn't that more lateral than anything though? How does that improve the hawks defenses?

Well, as long as you keep Monty we can talk haha

I know it. I think he's still a bit underrated despite the praise he's been getting this year. Just seems like goalie salaries are down, and the teams that signed long term deals 3-4 years ago would be signing cheaper deals today.

Huet was part of it but the Toews/Kane playoff bonuses ($4M+) counting against the cap as well as the raises for Toews/Kane (~$6M total) for the following season had more to do with it than Huet.

Somebody's cereal got pissed in this morning.
Shouldn't you be working on that trade rumor?

BTW, for the sake of conversation: Miller+Vanek for Toews+Crawford. Now you've got my attention.

oh, you.

Have you seen Kane play defense? I haven't.

Chicago needs defense so he wouldn't be going back to Buffalo, but Montador also won't be in Chicago for the next 3 years either. His salary is less than his cap hit in the last 3 years of his 4 year deal, so I could see him getting sent to a team that needs high cap hit/low actual salary contracts.

Now you've got Stan Bowman laughing in Darcy Regier's face as he hangs up on him.

How does Vanek improve the defenses of the Blackhawks though? They don't have problems scoring goals.

You think Purcell could be available? He'd be a nice tweener for us and him and Clowe are BFF's.
Anyone except Stamkos, St. Louis, and Hedman are probably available for the right price. I wouldn't mind seeing Purcell go either - when he wants to play, he's really good, but he has a real issue with consistency. He'd probably show up in the playoffs though, like he did last year.

I feel like either Purcell or Downie could be good options for us, Downie less so though. He seems like Eager but with a lot more skill. Anyone that reminds me of that dickbag Eager isn't good though.

Vanek is a better two way player than Kane is. Kane plays zero defense.

I agree, but man if Ruff doesn't have a stick up his ass whenever you mention Vanek and defense in the same sentence. Our best player has his ice time limited whenever Ruff decides Vanek isn't "giving it his all" in the defensive end.

Edit - lol, OnPoint. I just want a legit center at this point. I want to delude myself into thinking we're going to get one.

Kane's idea of two-way play is ass to mouth.
:lol
^^^^^^^^^^

Oh... shit.

Haha alright alright. Let's just keep Vanek.
But I was just getting ready to order my Vanek Blackhawks jersey. :(

Kane would be a healthy scratch 82 times a season then.

Thats good, but not only does it still not improve Chicago's blue line, but Vanek gets hurt constantly. So now when he's hurt and out of the lineup, and the Hawks are less one stellar offensive player and their defense still isn't great.

:lol :lol

Seriously, I bet if you looked at the top goal scorers of the last three seasons combined, Vanek would be in the top 15 with the least amount of ice time by far.

His production would probably drop in Chicago though. Quenneville would give him 2 shifts on the 1st line and when if he didn't score, he'd put him on the 4th line and bump Frolik up to the 1st line. If he did score, he'd get bumped down to the 3rd line.

Vanek has missed less than 30 games his entire career so I think your criticism of his injuries is exaggerated just a bit.

My point was that Vanek is capable of playing some defense while Kane isn't. A Vanek for Kane swap isn't going to suddenly turn the Blackhawks into a defensive juggernaut.

Sell at the deadline and draft one. Better yet, do that and develop Luke Adam, who is awesome.

Eh? He's missed like 20 games in the last 6 seasons combined.

Now you're talking. He was just sent back to the minors. Ruff.

Oh sorry, did I forget to mention Ruff just dropped Vanek off the top line for Ville Leino? Yep.

First, yeah, my "thousands of miles" reply (I had to google it, because for some reason, you tend to go back weeks or months to find something to insult me) was obviously not scientific and more of a metaphoric kind. I'd say you're about 500kms (yeah, I think in kilometers) from me, and I'd say you live in a completely different country, and yeah, I'd say you understand just as much about Quebec culture as I do about Connecticut, which is to say, not a lot. I didn't think I'd have to go back on shit I said weeks ago, what are you, my girlfriend?

But if we're sticking to what has been said here today, yeah, Boston Bruins fans constantly prove (you can look 3-4 posts up) that they're completely deluded about the dirty hits their players has been dishing. It's all the more surprising considering one of your best players' career has been ended by a dirty hit, but hey, I guess winning a Stanley Cup makes you forget about all of that.

And yeah, thank you, other Bruins fan I don't know about, for giving me the opportunity to express, again, how deluded your bunch is. Yesterday, the most physical team on the ice was Montreal. You can say whatever you want, Habs dished the most hits, and your team was intimidated by the freakin HABS, so much so that they came back in the third period just because they applied so much pressure in your end (see Chara's brain fart when he saw Cole coming, for instance).

And the Habs didn't do it with dirty hits dished out by squirrel-faced assholes, they did it with legal hits and intensity.

Now, I'll be the first to admit this isn't typical Habs hockey, but to give the Habs as an example of "wussy hockey" or whatever, when your team basically shat in their pants yesterday because they were afraid of a 25th-place, not-so-physical hockey team (most of all Lucic, who was invisible all night after the hits started coming), is typical Bruins hypocrisy at its best.

You don't need to be like Marchand to be physical. End of the story.

Been dreaming about that all season as well.

I feel like Ruff should just pioneer a 2 RW 2 LW one D style of play, and just say "Fuck it" when it comes to center as long as Darcy is in town.

We're obviously never getting one while he's hanging around, since "Roy is a top 20 center in the league."

I'm just saying, the risk is there. He misses at least a few games every year. Us guys with injury prone guys on our teams can smell our own.

Adam to the minors? I guess it's probably better for him to be dominating down there then experiencing losing up in the NHL. he'll be a good one.

Oh my God. I had erased that quote from my memory. Remember he said we don't need a center because Tim Connolly and Derek Roy are both top 20 centers?

He was put in the minors because he stopped producing here. Sounds find without context. He was dropped to our fourth line for the last two months because Jochen Hecht got healthy. Shocking he couldn't create with Cody McCormick and Patrick Kaleta by his side.

Oh shiiiii....

Picture Ryan Miller in Chicago?

Sources close to Miller confirm his frustration with the Sabres organization and tell me he’d waive his modified no-trade clause to go to Chicago.

The frustration began early in the season after he was trucked by Boston’s Milan Lucic. Miller stayed down on the ice while his teammates stood around and watched.

From this point forward it’s more than safe to assume Miller began questioning his teammates. Are they willing to bleed for him in the same fashion he does for them?

I’ve heard the speculation that Miller would only accept a trade to Los Angeles or Anaheim so he could be closer to his actress wife Noureen DeWulf. I’m told this is completely untrue. Miller wants to win and he’s apparently open to go to a number of teams, not just those located in So Cal

Again, I’m told he’d jump at the opportunity to go to Chicago.
