At least they made a game of it. Embarrassing start for the whole team. I'd give Enroth the next start or two though.

Yea to be honest I don't know how to feel about this game. We didn't look very dominant after those three goals. Part of it could certainly be that the Flyers were trying to preserve the lead, but whenever you score early and don't follow it up there is some reason for concern.

Maybe before, but he's now on the top line in hockey. Paired with Connolly and Kessel these guys have turned lethal.

Back to back friday/saturday coming up. I'd go with Enroth Friday to see if he can help them get some points at home.

If Enroth can thrive with it, I'd go with Enroth for 3 of the next 5. They have back to backs every weekend for the next few weeks though.

For sure, happened with us and TBL - except Sabres have a penchant for going soft with the lead , 2nd period curse, etc etc.

This team is so fucking backwards after all the hype in off/pre-season - I expected a lot more. Most of our acquisitions have been complete shite, Ehrhoff was a -6 (not sure what he is after this game), Leino is just balls and heading towards 'waste of money'; Regehr has been pretty solid though.

Bench Miller for the next few games. Something drastic has to be done.

And I fucking hate VS - to think we have a fair amount of games broadcasting on that abysmal channel this season... ugh

Leino was always going to be a disappointing signing, I think. Ehrhoff should still turn things around.

Their PP should be good given the players they've got. Do they have many PK specialists, though? That's one thing that Gillis/Vigneault have definitely done right: we've got PK experts for days.

Yea, it's still early for both. I certainly hope Ehrhoff turns it around, I'd love to see him play at his potential.

Leino is the new Hecht so far.

Ehrhoff doesn't seem to be doing so bad, but the Sabres have had no answer for the other team's adjusting to take away his shot.

Sitting thru a whole game of Doc "waffle-board" Emrick was difficult, but I'm glad I managed it since that was a nice win. Ah shit, the Flyers are on VS next Wednesday, too.

Ehrhoff had a lousy game tonight, but I think he's looked pretty good overall. Leino is finding his spot at the moment. I'm not too upset with the transition. I actually thought tonight was his best game since the Euro games.

Damn you're dum. PK is really hurting the goalies right now. Monster made some huge saves there but he can't stop wide open guys or tipped shots when the D screws up.

Once the PK gets on track the goals against will shine, our goalie tandem will be revered and you'll be eating

Sometimes your best penalty killer has to be your goalie, it's quite clear Gussie (as I shall refer to him as from here on out) can't hack it. Good goalies, the kind of goalies that get starting jobs in this league, don't crumble every time there is an odd man advantage in their zone. Toronto has the worst PK in the league right now and he's a big part of the reason why.

In the grand scheme of things, I truly believe the Leafs would be after one of the Rangers' three top prospects. Chris Kredier, a large, speedy college forward, who has 11 points in eight games this year with Boston College, is definitely on the Leafs' radar.

Another player who could be close to the Leafs' hearts could be Christian Thomas, son of former Maple Leaf Steve Thomas. Last season with the Oshawa Generals, Thomas set the OHL ablaze with 54 goals in 66 games, and he could be called for a tryout with the Canadian Junior Team. At 5'9", 165 pounds, his lack of size could be a real sticking point for Brian Burke and company.

Recently sent down defenceman Tim Erixon rounds out the possible options for the Leafs. A good all-around defenceman with some offensive upside, Erixon's game compares favorably to fellow Toronto Maple Swede Carl Gunnarsson, who this season hasn't really made any glaring errors and has played an all-around solid game, both defensively and offensively.

I know Manics likes to pick on FS, but in this case the latter is actually being quite fair with his criticism. Look at Reimer. He's obviously not the most skilled or dynamic goalie out there, however he's consistent and will make more clutch saves than he will soft goals allow. Jonas Goalie/Gussie/Gina-man doesn't have that reliability. We're winning games in spite of him, and that's not going to hold.

I'd be sad to see Franson leave, what with Schenn being such a dud this year. Still, I think we're ok on defense and could use another piece/prospect for the offense. Plus, if the stories were true about Franson expecting to walk into the team, then it's best for he and the Leafs to part ways.

Leafs need a PK overhaul. PP shows a minor heatbeat just because of the talent of guys like Gardiner and Grabovski have, but the PK is completely dead.

They need a new system or something. Drop Dupius and maybe even Brown to the Marlies and grab Boyce or Zigomanis or something. They need a switchup.

Maybe even Keith Aulie.

What a game! Watched it on PVR (actually still watching it, but the score was spoiled for me so I know it's not going to move in the third). It had been years since we had anybody get a hat trick, and now we've got two in ~ a month. It's nice to see our boys keeping the offense up.

Holy hell though, our PK is so fucking bad. Like stupid bad. We could play pylons and not have statistically significantly different results.

Fun fact: Last year it took us 20 games to get 8 wins.

They're not attacking when they're on the PP. They treat the penalty kill like they're just waiting for the other team to score. They've got to get somebody attacking the puck carrier. Make them have to make decisions fast.

Goddamn it, I really wanted to watch the Toronto - New Jersey game tonight. I don't want to be one of those guys who only watches home team games and then checks (and misinterprets) stats for the rest of the league. Ended up sleeping through it though.

How awesome did the Kessel/Lupul combo look? Awesome, or so awesome?

That's pretty much it. Except Fowler was never considered a prospect since he made the roster straight away. Sbisa was considered more developed than him though, and it's shown. Fowler fit the slot of 'puck moving D' that we needed post-Neidermayer and Sbisa is your more physical guy.

I'd take Fowler over Gardiner any day.

I'm happy Lupul is playing great. He deserve the shot the Ducks never gave him. Didn't see much of jake but I think Fowler and Sbisa will be great.

Beauch has been our top D getting the most minutes of the team. So I wouldn't consider it a FLEECE until gardiner proves himself. Ducks saw something they probably didn't like so they threw him in the deal. Time will tell.
