I think the main problem is when you have a developer say other developers will lose all motivation to make games after seeing his magnificent game, or whatever arrogant shit he said. Of course there's going to be derision after that kind of bullshit.

I don't think anyone other than Gaf gives a shit about the "lose all motivation" line. This is the only forum I've seen people say anything about it. So, there's no problem there, since the derision is taking place outside of any arena that matters.

It's sad that every time an interview comes out, a handful of people have these huge nerd attacks and start hyperventilating over things like "Ninja Gaiden 4."

I noticed that NG4 and "lose motivation" crap is only being said on Gaf. It seems like all the little nerds here love getting their dicks hard over any silly little shit. Seriously. Didn't Itagaki also do an interview where he "inspired some producer to make Devil May Cry 3"? I think it's hilarious but I guess that's because I have a sense of humor.

Hell who can complain about the "developers will lose their motivation" line? As far as action games go the only series that compares to NG is DMC.

gaf story time: I once got into an argument with a mod over dmc vs. ng. It was in a NGII thread where dmc fans were spamming the thread with 1280x720 pics of DMC4. The mod was apparently on their side because the people spamming never got banned. I attempted to explain the game for a while, but got a little heated at the apparent bullshit going on the thread. I made one post saying DMC-exclusive fanboys don't know shit about how to play NG (still the truth for the most part), then was banned for a month.

so yeah, probably not happening. :lol

The presentation of God of War destroys DMC and Ninja Gaiden. As far as gameplay, Ninja Gaiden wins hands down. DMC is kinda stuck in the middle.

I'm not saying it doesn't look better. Only a blind person would say that. What I am saying though is that graphical leap between the two isn't as huge as it could/should have been. Ninja Gaiden 1 is a gorgeous looking game , probably the best looking console game of the last generation (technical, not art direction :lol).
In comparison NG2 only looks like a slight improvement on the graphics department and concidering what Team Ninja managed to do on the original Xbox it's a bit dissapointing. Not that it really matters because the game will kick some serious ass but it's just very apparent.

There is nothing even remotely comparable to that in NG1/NGB/NGS.

Next few seconds you're seeing huge well-animated dragon-bone-boob-thingies with their limbs splitting off and getting tossed all over the place while Ryu does multiple flying swallows. Is there anything comparable in NG1? Doesn't look like it.

yeah. when the trailer first started i thought, "hm, this does sort of look like ninja gaiden. . . "
then he runs through the arch, and i just flipped out. the game looks stunning.

No, that's not the reason. Xbox and GC were pretty much on par graphically.

It's the techniques used. NG2 doesn't use the so called 'next-gen' effects to any great degree, so to those who expect that kind of "next-gen sheen", it's missing here. NG2 is going for the same techniques the original used, but to a much greater degree, so the "look" is very similar (like Halo 2 -> 3). I think it looks fantastic because the original looked amazingly clean and ran super smooth for its time and this just brings that over with HD resolution, a bigger scale, more stuff going on at once and body dismemberment. One of the better looking 360 titles as far as I'm concerned.
