I love comments like these... please describe to me this next gen feel that you so desire... please I want to know of these next gen experience that this game obviously doesn't display.

QTE's dude. Didn't you hear, God of War is the pinnacle of action gaming...
apparently, or sadly -- though both terms work.

Demo coming soon? This week? or next?

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/853/853792p1.html

"It looks like GDC isn't over yet for Ryu Hayabusa and Ninja Gaiden 2. Those willing to look around on the Xbox Live Marketplace will notice a not-yet-selectable Ninja Gaiden II demo is listed as part of the GDC 2008 Bringing it Home content.

To find it, go to the Marketplace tab and look at what is in the Spotlight. Go up to the GDC banner and then drill down to find a tab for New Game Announcements. Under Ninja Gaiden II you can find the video released today as well as the upcoming demo. Currently the tab lists it as "Coming Soon" which hopefully means before the end of this week. Keep your eyes on the Marketplace for your first taste of Ninja Gaiden II."

Why do these threads always degenerate into a Ninja Gaiden versus Devil May Cry argument? Can't people be happy that these two series have brought back the action genre and are now two of the best series in gaming? I mean if you are going to bash a game in Ninja Gaiden or Devil May Cry threads how about bashing a game that deserves it like God of War. Anyways, the trailer looks awesome and the environment is pretty cool and different.

Am I the only human being left on this planet that appreciates all three? Jesus...

Don't get me wrong. I love God of War, but it's clearly an inferior series compared to DMC and NG.

Just finished watching the gameplay vid in HD and I have to say that I am thoroughly impressed. The environment that was on display was huge with tons of enemies in the backdrop that gave it a very epic scale.

i feel like I already played this on ps3. granted I don't own a 360, but I just don't see anything new and the same flaws that were there before seem to still be intact..

at the end of the day, trailer & videos have done nothing to gain my interest. time to innovate itegaki.

Holy freakin' crap.

That's the first time I've ever been impressed with NG2. That's insane.
QFT!!!!!

Now I must make a decision come June: Get replace my 360 or wait for the inevitable PS3 port. If 360 is $299 by then I'll probably cave.

Dammit stop doing this. GoW doesn't even try to compete with those games and even then, there are ways in which GoW completely destroys them.

Well thats one way of coping.

I'll take the one with better visuals & effects, new environments & level design, new weapons & gore, new enemies & bosses, new score & epic scale, new film save feature, new story and new number 2 at the end of the game title.

So when did you decide while watching all those videos that it just wasn't interesting?

No, sir, you are not. I'm playing DMC4 now, buying GoW:CoO in two weeks and CAN'T FUCKING WAIT for NG2. NG:DS might hold me over. Hopefully this demo comes sooner rather than soon.

People need to stop coming into these threads with the intent to compare the games.

What? Demo you say?

niiiiiiice.

Damn, Snack's grief-counseling office must be seriously fucking abandoned by this point....GDC delivers.

In a perfect world, that would be the case. But this is GAF, so sadly that will never happen :p

I don't understand the constant need to start fanboyish comparisons over everything either, so i just try to ignore it.

*watches the video again* :D

i don't even think god of war should be considered the same sort of game as ninja gaiden or devil may cry. i just played god of war 2 recently, and it's less about refining your combat skills and more about propelling you through this huge, nonsensical, awesome retard rollercoaster ride through mythology. i said in another thread that it reminds me of kingdom hearts, where you mash the buttons until you see another awesome character that you remember from their respective cast (disney in the case of kingdom hearts, greek mythology in the case of god of war) and just have a blast looking at the scenery and being along for the trip. it's really unfair to compare the combat systems, since i don't think that's what they were shooting for in g.o.w.2. (note that i'm leaving out the first game, which i think is far less impressive)

Don't ever compare an amazing franchise like God of War to relative drivel like Kingdom Hearts

I sat in the audience at the MS Keynote and watched Itagaki's translator demo the game.

To be honest, the combat looks totally amazing, and the animations are great, but the game looks like Sigma with more particle effects. That's what I took away from the 5-10 minutes he spent on it. Not a bad thing, but DMC4 is definitely much nicer looking. I thought it was unfortunate that the whole "blood texture sticking off of a wall" bug that was in the previous iterations was still present, but hell, the game still looked fun to play, so who cares right?

Pretty much.

I guess the high-standard comes from the bar that Team Ninja set, last generation.

I think the main problem is when you have a developer say other developers will lose all motivation to make games after seeing his magnificent game, or whatever arrogant shit he said. Of course there's going to be derision after that kind of bullshit.

two sides of the same coin. like i said, "boy oh boy i hope mickey shows up" gets replaced by "man oh man, it's prometheus! for some reason."

it's a fun game, and a great ride, but wrapping a thick layer of macheesmo around it doesn't mitigate the similarities

God of War's quality has nothing to do with character gimmicks like Kingdom Hearts

The presentation of God of War destroys DMC and Ninja Gaiden. As far as gameplay, Ninja Gaiden wins hands down. DMC is kinda stuck in the middle.
