The fun hasn't even started. This is light for DMC vs. NG warz.

Give it a page or two and we'll be hearing about how NG is last gen because Ryu doesn't change weapons mid-combo or have the Devil Bringer.

Anyone who isn't impressed with the graphics, you really have to watch this game in full HD, that's where the quality lies.

A lot of games have special sparkly effects that can wow you in SD, this game doesn't have those, instead going for high res textures and massive poly counts.

damn.. I didn't know I had to choose one or the other.. can't I just enjoy both? :D

Logically speaking, sure.

but as the old saying goes "this is neogaf, dude." If it has "Ninja Gaiden" in the thread title, it'll devolve into DMC vs. NG warz.

You can tell that a lot of people are really butt hurt by how awesome NG2 is. It's kind of awesome. I think, that when I'm playing it, my enjoyment of the game will only be amplified by the knowledge that somewhere sits a pale, angry man, seething at the awesomeness that he is too poor or too crazy to enjoy.

I'm not impressed with the graphics. In fact from a graphical standpoint it looks a lot like Ninja Gaiden upscaled with better textures. However I couldn't give shit. I'm impressed with the scale, the speed, the decapitations, the gore and the agressive a.i

I want it... now! :D

I don't think it looks better than DMC4 gaphically, but I think it looks great in it's own way. Then again, it's hard to judge by grainy videos.

Itagaki-san? is That U???

This is probably the worst gameplay video so far, the area is just booooring. It's too big and open, the fight on the rooftops is still the best video. I hope the enviornments are smaller, more intimate than what we see here.

Not enough candlelight dinners for you in the trailer?

I'm not really feelin' this.

It's like a Ninja Gaiden expansion pack. New weapons, new locations... but the same engine, more or less. Seems to be the Team Ninja way, if you ask me. The changes between Dead or Alive games after DOA2 or DOA3 were few and far between, in my eyes. I'm sure there were tons of minor little tweaks but those were negligible in the big picture.

Ninja Gaiden 2 looks to be the same way.

guys JETT called combat in KH2 deep.......please dont take him seriously.

Really now, I said it had more depth than Zelda games. I demand bannage for sullying by name in such a way.

Worst video yet, and the player was a complete newb.

It's funny how everyone is so excited over it, and I'm one of the biggest Ninja Gaiden whores here.

Edit: Nevermind, it's apparent that you don't like modern day Sonic.

But yeah, what the guy below me just posted is true. There was nothing wrong with Ninja Gaiden to begin with in terms of gameplay. Sequels give developers a chance to refine something for the better.

This is generally what sequals are.

Video has a God of War vibe in terms of environment, just so huge - on such a big scale! Hype for NG2 x1000.

please port it to PS3 D:

fuck it, i'm gonna have to start saving now

Microsoft are publishing it. Though PS3 owners could see a port late on, but don't expect a standard MS 6 month exclusivity window.

This game looks better than Sigma, no doubt.

This game is also not about how great of graphics it has (they are great).

THe gameplay and the awesome bloodiness. I predict a solid 90-95 metascore...maybe better.

Also I love DMC4, but NG 1 is probably my most fave game ever.

OMG!!! I take back whatever I said about the graphics, how could I have doubted you Team Ninja! This might be the only game I need for 2008!

Sigma doesn't look a whole lot better than NG2, but it still looks better

:lol at all the "NG2 looks better than NGS"-comments. Itagaki told us we'd cream our pants!

Super Mario 64 vs. Super Mario Sunshine vs. Super Mario Galaxy

All three of them have very readily apparent changes in gameplay, controls, and graphic design. Hell, so far, even Halo 1 vs. Halo 2 vs. Halo 3 seems to have evolved more than Ninja Gaiden 2 has.

It probably doesn't help that I got stuck on Alma in NG1 and I'm not really interested in the game enough to try and practice enough to beat her. I'm sure for people starving for more Ninja Gaiden this looks incredible, but it's not really doing much to change my opinion on the franchise.

It just looks like NG1 with a gore mod and better particle effects, to me.

Yep...a clear case of that. Stuck on alma, cursing the game. don't worry, it's normal. :lol jk

i'm not sure what you're looking for. For one thing, you're not experienced enough with the game to really make the call on this one. new weapons, new environments, and new enemies makes for a sequel in the action genre. There are also going to be numerous tweeks to the combate engine to account for the whole new setting. Yes, it'll be ninja gaiden in the sense that you're fighting things, but it's new game altogether. Anything different from that and it would probably be too much change. Though I hope they throw in a co-op mode or something in the next one.

3D Mario is not a good comparison, no games have sequels like that. A better comparison might be SMB3 to Mario World...they change up some mechanics, add new enemies, and have all new levels. but if you played 3, you already were familiar with how things would work. You got more of what you had before, but with enough newness to keep it interesting.

Halo is a good comparison-- same gameplay with new weapons, enemies, and environments. Same multiplayer with all that and new game types. Each sequel expands on the one before it nicely while still feeling like Halo.

I sat in the audience at the MS Keynote and watched Itagaki's translator demo the game.

To be honest, the combat looks totally amazing, and the animations are great, but the game looks like Sigma with more particle effects. That's what I took away from the 5-10 minutes he spent on it. Not a bad thing, but DMC4 is definitely much nicer looking. I thought it was unfortunate that the whole "blood texture sticking off of a wall" bug that was in the previous iterations was still present, but hell, the game still looked fun to play, so who cares right?
