After throwing in a couple of
too many
dollars, it's probably safe to say that you can get away with just using the free plays on most of them. Most of the boards are designed with a chain reaction in mind, so if you're crafty you can get almost all of them with a single play.

A buck or two isn't too bad if you want to nab something before it vanishes, so it's actually pretty fair.
 
Ahh okay, so the machine resets at 5am.
I started the game back up to check and the rabbit gave me a presentation about 10 slides long on why AC: Happy Home Designer is so great. >_>

I almost feel dirty playing a microtransaction game that's basically entirely advertisement but at the same time DECORATIONS YESSS.
 
Got 3 additional free plays, got a "big Toad" and a yellow Game Boy Color.

I actually aimed and got the GBC as I own one. Toad just fell while trying to pick a Luigi...twice. :p
 
I've left the screen with the bouncing software icons going for a bit and I have almost seen them bounce out once or twice. I wonder if it is possible for them to eventually knock themselves out...

Well, actually I suppose that wouldn't be entirely true, as I didn't spend any "REAL" money, but he promised me 5 free plays and I only got 3. Might this have anything to do with the fact that I got every badge in the first catcher using less than 5 plays, thus wasting the remaining 2?
 
Nice! I've always really loved the idea of the badges, but I kind of assumed we would never get them over here (because NOA) so this is great to see.

Yeah, I finished the free round with 2 moves remaining and it didn't carry over after.

It's possible to stockpile plays right? I mean the ones you earn from the practice machine.
So you might get three one day, then three the next and have six total. So it'd be possible to save them for future badge series that interest you more?
 
So... I can't actually spend $2 to get the bonus theme? It only allows me to either buy needed amount for 5 plays ($1.09) or add $10 to my eShop wallet which I don't want to do.

I was wondering this myself. They take you straight to the claw machine right after winning the free plays, so I'm wondering if it's something you can stack up or if you need to do it on the spot.

If you can stack them up, I'm wondering if there would be a limit on it too.

No, it's use 'em or lose 'em. Once you earn a free play, it takes you to the machine and you can't back out.

You later get options to increase the number of plays you want to purchase (10, 15, or 20), but at first you're going to have to buy the 5 plays twice.
 
Cute little game and a nice surprise.

Got a total of 10 badges on my first 5 free plays, plus the 3 extra plays I got from practice.

Getting 5 or more free plays is a rarity, but not at all impossible. If say you have 9 practice badges carried over, you need to score 12 badges, one of which gives you 3-plays. On some days, the practice panel will be really easy to get 12 or more. Plus every so often, they give out 1-3 free plays anyway in addition to what you can earn in practice, so you've got opportunities to complete panels even without spending money.

Spending money is for people like me who have 300 completed panels. :P

All Pokémon are going to be in it. It's inevitable :(

Not just that but they do special things as well such as the Halloween Parade.

If they don't do the gym badges in it, they're going to miss a trick

No, there's a general 3DS customization thread, but something focused would be nice.
 
Well, used my free plays and got a few of the Mario ones. Then spent $2 and got both of the TLOZ:ALBW sets! I impressed myself with my luck there.

It's pretty cool. The bunny is adorable too.

I wish the plays were a little cheaper, but since you can earn free plays as well I guess it's not too bad.

Thanks! Can't wait for the Metroid one. It kind of sucks though that that good badges are much harder to get so with the three bonus plays you can find for free won't help you.

Are the console ones really limited? They are coming back right?

In Japan at least, panels shift daily with old panels coming back. New ones come each week. It'll be a while for this to happen in the west, but yeah most come back.

I somehow didn't realize that the console badges would be perfect for my folders that already divide Virtual Console games by system.

I instead went for Mario application icons.

What about it that makes it gross? I like how it got the crane machine feel well. And the dialog makes the rabbit look like a poor salesman.

Just need a GBA icon, a Game Gear icon (or anything Sega though I know none of this exists..) and a DSi icon.

Then I can get rid of all the lettering stuff.

I keep the folders in the - with the 3 following folders being empty describing the contents.

3DS has 3D classics, 3DS downloads and a couple of digital retail games (not by choice)
GBC for game boy color (and original)
SGG for Sega Game Gear
NES for NES....
GBA for game boy advance
DSi for Dsiware
Dmo for various demos, I really only keep the ones I got from codes (unlimited use versions)
and Vid for the videos we used to get... trailers, built in videos from various 3DS models. I also have Kirby RBAY and Meat or Die from that contest... missing Dinosaur Office remix.. (would gladly pay for it if anyone has unused code BTW!!)

And until a 3DS badge comes out, I think the Link Between Worlds Download Play badge works perfect for downloaded 3DS games :D
 
I won some free plays, but I don't know what I should use them on. Can I save them, or do you have to use them immediately? And what time of day does the practice machince reset?

Also, how do you know which bonus theme you get if you buy the certain amount of plays? I thought it was the Mario Kart one but they don't actually tell you that...

You have to use them immediately.

Resets at the time listed on the title screen. 4am JST in Japan and 3am in Europe is all I know.

Bonus theme typically changes weekly.

Have to use them now
Bonus themes are from clearing sets but I haven't gotten any.
There's a LBW theme for spending 2 bucks.
The retro icons (super famicom and GB systems) are Tuesday and Wednesday only
Game reset time is listed on the title screen.
