I'm curious about Rune Factory 4 since it's on sale. Any fans of the series want to sell me on it? I've never played any games in the series or Harvest Moon and I couldn't really find any decent footage of it to see how it plays. I know it's not a great looking game so maybe people aren't eager to show footage.

That's cool. That's one of the reasons I might want to upgrade to N3DS. The 3D effect is supposed to be improved.

I have Star Fox 64 3D and thought it was okay, but nothing about the gameplay was so great.

I guess it can be mentioned here for those holding off on downloads until My Nintendo launches, but they confirmed that neither 3DS themes or DLC will count towards Gold Points for the program. Which is weird since DLC counted towards the Digital Deluxe Promotion for the Wii U, though I understand the 3DS themes since it probably has to be done through the eShop.

Just something worth bringing up since I'm holding off on some purchases so I can earn points from the new reward program.

I just bought a 3DS game that had a Club Nintendo page in it! Too bad that thing's been shut down for a while now.

I'm not really going to wait till it launches to buy anything. I still don't really know anything about the new program.

Edit: http://www.nintendo.com/my-nintendo So I searched and found the Nintendo page about the new service. I don't know if it's true, but it sounds like you can only get points from digital games (whereas Club Nintendo points used to come from physical games too), and I'm not sure if they will have any physical rewards like Club Nintendo had.

My understanding is Gold Points are similar to the DDP program but for both systems now, while Platinum Points are for goodies & such.

You can still earn points if you use a download code or buy the game directly from Nintendo's site digitally, but yes, retail games no longer will count sadly.

The program starts this Thursday for Japan, so maybe that'll be the same day as the US, or maybe the week after.

I guess I'll try and hold off buying anything on the eShop until it launches in the US.

3DS themes are clearly just DLC for the home menu.

Japan is supposed to be getting it before everyone else. Though, it should still launch this month for everyone else.

I love the N64 game. I love the 3-D in the 3DS version. I hate that the game requires you to rapid press the fire button causing the whole system to shake and screw up the beautiful 3-D. Haven't tried it on a n3DS, but that rapid button shaking is why I've avoided it whenever it came up as a downloadable reward or the DL version went on sale.

If they ported it right, then the fire frequency from holding the button is faster than mashing it.
Also, is this the only game with fully available download-play multiplayer or what?

I like City Connection but that's a great example of a game I wouldn't pay $5 for.

How is Dig Dug II? I like the GameCenter CX episode of it, never played it though. I know it's really nothing like Dig Dug.

I remember seeing a demo of Star Fox 64 in a Blockbuster Video when I was growing up. I never owned the game on N64 though.

I think I was going to buy Pokemon X or Zelda, but they didn't have that at Best Buy, but I wanted a 3DS game, so I bought Star Fox at Toys R Us. I never found any "secret exits" or whatever in my 2 playthroughs of it.

One is in the asteroid field, if you catch all acceleration gates. Similarly, you can shoot open some gates on one flight route in that level before the two Landmaster ones.

Well this is interesting. My Nintendo is up in Japan & one of the downloads you can get is WarioWare Touched......for the 3DS, NOT the Wii U. From what I've heard, it's marked as a DSiWare title? But this makes me wonder if they figured out how to let people download DS games on the 3DS.

Sounds like a cheap workaround, get DS games acknowledged by the system as DSi. I don't know a lot about how either the DS or the 3DS work, really, but DSi games have always been fully supported, so this sort of makes sense. If anything the weird thing is that it wasn't done before.

Maybe Touched is just small enough and is just easy enough to run to let this work, and most DS titles wouldn't?

Yeah, it appears to be a DSiWare title, taking up 214 blocks, or 27MB. No VC stuff that the Wii U would have.

The other downloadable stuff is a few VC titles on 3DS & Wii U, plus New Super Luigi U & some Pikmin 3 DLC....plus Donkey Kong Country Returns AGAIN, but the Wii version for Wii U.

Seems like a decent rewards program, as long as they give us new ones periodically.

Hopefully we don't have to fill out surveys like Club Nintendo did.

This isn't the first time it happened, actually. Club Nintendo Japan previously offered Advance Wars: Days of Ruin (which was never released in Japan prior to that) as a digital reward for DSiWare.

I'm a fan of Renegade Kid, but as someone who found some of the first game's levels a bit too challenging, the Event Preview Demo confirmed that I'll be sitting this one out unless I get it in some sort of bundle or giveaway.

The problem with DSiWare games is that they save on to the system memory, not the SD Card. They CAN be stored on the SD Card, but you can't run them directly from there, so it's like the early Wii days where you have to constantly move stuff from the SD Card to the system memory in order to run various games.

This is probably the biggest reason why Nintendo hasn't released DS games on 3DS branded as DSiWare. A single DS game would probably take up all the 3DS internal memory, and you wouldn't be able to have a decent library of DS games without having to constantly move things around to play your games. I really wish they could do an update to let you run DSiWare games the same way the fixed things on Wii so they could release DS games on 3DS, but why they haven't done is anyone's guess.

Yeah DS games being DsiWare renders them useless for me, my system storage for DsiWare is full on my 3DS and I only have half of my titles stored.
Shame but I don't think I'm quite ready to start re-buying my DS library too anyway...

I'm pretty sure there's several DS games which are actually bigger than the entire DSiWare partition.

As for why they haven't fixed it, it is probably both a lot of work and low on their priority list.

They can probably do it, but it would require a bunch of probably minimally reusable, very 3DS-specific, code, and Nintendo already has a more future-proof solution with DS VC.

Of course, Nintendo is also releasing Wii games on the Wii U eShop, so..... *shrug*

There isn't really any other regularly occurring Nintendo threads so I hope this request is appropriate.

I have a 3DS XL and I am pretty interested in the New 3DS Hyrule edition that GameStop is selling. With the announcement of some SNES games coming elusively to N3DS I am really going back and forth with buying one so late after its launch. Anyone recently upgrade and want to tell me their experience? I'm just not sure its worth the $200, especially this late into the 3ds life cycle and the possibility that the NX could have some kind of a mobile feature... I was thinking of picking it up along with Hyrule Warriors Legends. I probably wouldn't trade in my XL as my fiance has been enjoying pokemon Yellow. Would there be a problem with having my Nintendo account on two systems? I only have a few digital games, all of which are VC games. So I'm not too concerned about losing any of them if that is the case.

Are there really any huge benefits over the original XL?

The 3D effect works considerably better on the New 3DS line.

Otherwise, this thread lists all of the games that are enhanced on N3DS

Regarding your account, you cannot have it on two systems. You would need to transfer everything to the new unit and create a new NNID on the old unit.
