I remember when it was first announced it seemed like the Wii version of Crystal defenders was going to be a downgrade/ripoff compared to the other ones, with significantly fewer levels. Did that end up being the case?

Same game. Same graphics. Same levels. Same everything. For $10. Not $30. Fuck you Square.

no, it's not that bad (and I would say if it was). The other versions (you know, for $10 total) have 45 levels. Each Wii episode has 15 levels. So presumably once they release R3 the Wii version will be complete (and $14 more). The "missing" unit I believe will be present in R2. The unit IIRC was supposedly not in the combined game until later levels so there was no reason for it to be in R1.. or something like that.Capndrake said:

to be fair, it's not garbage. the gameplay is pretty good (if not a bit standard) and on wii especially the graphics are actually really good (for pixel art). the only problem with the Wii version being the pricing/release model. if you have a 360 or iphone/ipod you can get the game for less than half the price of the Wii version.Rash said:

Anyway, in this particular case, I've been looking forward to MM for a while, because the resolution upgrade makes a big difference in N64 games, and the Gamecube release is a bit iffy (as has been noted).

Crystal Defenders on Wiiware is a remake and not a port though. R1 sucks but by R3 it should be the better game.
Awesome! I've been waiting for MM to actually get released. Now I can actually go back and play this one, as I just kind of skipped it in the N64 era. Well, by "skipped" I mean: "got way too frustrated getting to the first dungeon, and after getting there played the 'reset the clock' song only to get teleported back to the town and then quit playing because I didn't want to go all the way back to the dungeon."
Now I just have to wait for my Wii to get back from Nintendo repairs. Siiigh.

I'd also like to state that Nintendo should have your "Nintendo" points ties to a central account so you can spend them on both of your devices. I'd be buying games on DSiWare AND WiiWare today if I could do that, but having to make the choice on where to spend my $13 CAD takes that option away. No way I can justify spending $26 for $10 worth of games. Sure there will be games down the road, but I use my credit card and don't like racking up interest for nothing.
The least they could do is add $5 funding options to the stores...better yet, adopt the PSN option of only having to buy what you need after the $5 minimum.
