Nintendo E3 2017 Spotlight Thread: Not my problem. [Over]

What game are you most excited for?

Mario is earlier than expected (though admittedly I'm on the fence, still), Xenoblade and Spla2n will give me plenty of play time, but I was hoping to learn a bit more about some of the indies (Stardew Valley and Wargroove primarily) so hopefully they give us more info during Treehouse.

My heart hurts for no Animal Crossing announcement, but I got BGE2 earlier in the conference so I'm content.

Liking the music from the trailer and most of what's been shown in the game (Mario) except for a couple more photorealistic environments. Still gotta get used to that stuff...

those are not photo-realistic environments. They are obviously designed to look odd and out of place. Perhaps a play on early 3d games.

Core mechanic looks very interesting, but the art style is just so unappealing to me, especially considering past EAD Tokyo games.

This sounds crazy to me but I think I prefer the look of Mario x Rabbids to this.

Was wondering a little why they didn't close with the Prime 4 announcement but then - DAMN! Odyssey killed it!
So many amazing ideas per second.

I know logos winning E3 makes people sound crazy but that's what E3 is for me. A console Pokemon FINALLY. Metroid Prime after 10 years, and a fantastic Odyssey trailer?

Yeah this was the conference that got me excited for the future the most.

What games did Nintendo show that was running on UE4? Because i saw the UE4 logo after the Mario trailer and im thinking no way the don't use their own engine for Mario.

Where is Platinum Games? :(

Solid presentation overall tough

Platinun games, From Software, Sucker Punch, etc.

While I liked Nintendo's presentation, this year's E3 was super odd in the delivery of game announcements and new Ip's.

Feels like almost everybody skipped it.

I need to see what the third party developers are doing. Rocket League is loved by a lot of people, but that doesn't really suffice as strong support.

The Big N dropped some bombshells, but we won't be seeing those for a while. But at least there will be stuff to play before Pokemon and Metroid release. I was expecting Mario to launch in November based on tradition, so the release date took me by surprise.

I can't believe there is no news on virtual console for the Switch. I should have had SNES games day fucking one. Instead, we have no clue when they will appear and what form they will actually be. Just insane.

But, everything they showed looked good. Fucking hyped for Mario and Xenoblade. Good to see some actual shit for 2017 I'm excited for at this e3.

Yeah, STILL no VC information. I'm jumping off this ship and selling my Switch. Can't be bothered to wait 2 years for something to show up.

no Smash DX, no MHXX localization announcement, no Pokémon Stars/Eclipse, no Virtual Console information, safe Kirby and Yoshi platformers being announced for 2018, no Metroid Prime 4 footage, and they want you to buy more amiibos for BotW DLC you already have to pay for

ok

They announced an RPG pokemon game.

I mean. Microsoft and Ubisoft had legitimately good conferences. Sony was underwhelming, but not bad. And Nintendo totally crushed it. How was this E3 bad?

They didn't "totally" crush it. All big 3 conferences have been rather average at best, ranging between a 5 and a 7 in my opinion. Nintendo showed absolutely nothing for Pokémon and Metroid and despite my bias for the latter, I gotta say it's very disappointing not seeing at least a design for Samus and an idea of what to expect. No details about Switch updates, online, VC, etc. No Smash Bros. port, which I'd believe was very much expected for E3. Yeah, it was exciting to finally know Pokémon is there but they didn't say shit about what it'll exactly be, "Core RPG" is a wide concept. I might be forgetting a few things. New Yoshi and Kirby aren't gonna set the world on fire, sadly (I'll surely play them though, I love my platformers).

Really glad that they keep mentioning Mario 64 (and Sunshine), and not the Galaxy games.
Would love gameplay closer to Mario 64 rather than the Galaxy games.

Wait, EAD is making Metroid Prime? Why? They have no experience making FPS games.

Odyssey just doesn't look cohesive. I'm sure the gameplay is fun but visually Mario x Rabbids is how a modern Mario game should look.

Yeah. It's sad that that garbage Rabbids game looks more like a Mario game than SMO.

You know it's funny, I thought the spotlight was pretty terrible besides the Mario Odyssey trailer...

But I don't fucking care because Metroid Prime 4

Core Pokemon in development somewhat cements that Switch will be the core platform going forward. Won't be surprised if there are more portable SKUs than what we have now, but good to know the vast majority of the titles will be shared between SKUs.

Nintendo did good.

Ah, the Nintendo Spotlight thread where everyone was losing it's mind and how Nintendo would have nothing new to announce.

Dear God, please eat all of your words guys. ALL of them. Delicious. Yes, some stuff is still a ways out and not shown. But a confirmation for a legit Metroid Prime? Kirby? Pokémon RPG confirmed for Switch next year? Cardboard Yoshi? Noone saw this stuff coming.

Amazing.

6/10. Rocket League is great. Fifa looks better than we all thought. Yoshi's game looks the same as Wooly World. That's a Kirby game in HD, but HEY, more Kirby is always good! Metroid announcement was surprising, but they had nothing to show for it. Fire Emblem warriors looks like an all star cast. Xenoblade 2 is WAAAAAY too fucking anime, and some of the designs are just flat out trashy, ESPECIALLY the main characters. Zelda DLC was kind of pointless, I literally know nothing new about the 2nd pack. Sigh... Amiiiiibos. Pokemon announcement, like Metroid, was nothing, but kind of obvious. But I suppose this is great for people who were convinced Nintendo and Pokemon Company are oblivious to HD development. Skyrim and Rabbids did not need to be there. The eSports announcement had NO PLACE in this presser. Mario Odyssey is easily the biggest highlight of the conference. So much NEW NEW NEW mechanics and theming it's amazing! Couple that, with some nostalgic elements and the vast open worlds then NNNNNNNGH, this is my ideal Mario game.

I can imagine this being disappointing if you're a Nintendo fan, but I kept my expectations in check.

I take that score back, it's now 10/10. Nintendo is saved :p

Nintendo won E3 IMO. That being said, that's not really saying much. It was a good show, and Nintendo said more in 25 minutes than Sony did in an hour. But it was perhaps a little too short, and it still leaves you craving for more. Guess they weren't kidding when they said the rest will be saved for Treehouse.

I haven't read all the posts, but I'm guessing I wasn't the only one who spotted Tropical Freeze in the quick showroom clip that Reggie introduced?
