Yep, just a sanity effect.This... can't... be... happening!
There is simply not demand nor anticipation for a new Eternal Darkness. Its spiritual successor has been on Kickstarter twice, the second time with a very reasonable goal. Did not even scratch it.
Ok, there was Dyack and Silicon Knights and so on, not properly the most lovable people around as far as feedback goes... and yet, the game failed.
It makes no sense to develop a new Eternal Darkness.
Yeah, this is just Nintendo holding onto an IP. Basically all companies do this and prefer to hold onto them "just in case" if nothing else.
It only make sense if maybe they'll do a VC release, but nothing more than that.
There's no way Nintendo would fund a sequel. They probably saw how Shadow of the Eternals kickstarter failed and that was enough to tell them there's not enough interest.
It's just extremely unlikely that Nintendo would fund such a game. Even the original sadly did not sell well. And after the dismal sales of Bayonetta 2 and such, I doubt Nintendo would want to risk investing in a sequel that has no guarantee of success.
They can just hire del Toro & Kojima to make it.
Believe me I wish it weren't true. I just remember Denis saying that the reason SK even left Nintendo to begin with was because both Eternal Darkness and Metal Gear: Twin Snakes just sold terribly and Nintendo was not going to give SK a chance to make anymore games like that on the Wii (since the Wii's core audience and focus turned out to be much different than the Gamecube's). So when Microsoft offered to not only fund Too Human but expand it into a Trilogy, it was a no-brainer to part with Nintendo at the time.Sigh :'( Unfortunate but true.
If it is I could never see that coming.Hmmm....is THIS the mysterious "2015 Wii U Remaster?"
MAY THE RATS EAT YOUR EYESplease N, let it die...
As much as I understand why it didn't get the needed support I'm still bummed Shadows of the Eternals never managed to get funded. Maybe Nintendo can pick up the slack and make an ED sequel instead.
Dennis dyack had no trust among the gamers along with a child pornography Charge against one of his employees and the Kickstarter was destined to fail. I refuse to get my hopes up again.
When will this Eternal Darkness Trademark Madness end?
Probably never; Nintendo owns the rights to the Sanity Meter, and probably don't want to let it go.

It means that if they want this trademark, they have to in one way or another within 36 months come up with a game related to Eternal Darkness.
And what Dascu wrote.
I tried... I tried to tell them... But they wouldnt listen to me... Damn them! Damn their eyes! They didnt believe me. Strange creatures... The world in peril from unseen foes... The death... The darkness! Instead, they jeered and threw me into this forsaken place a place of empty souls and fevered thoughts, reeking of foetor and decay, thinking me mad with delirium! The fools cast away their hopes of salvation, by locking me in this damned asylum!
May the rats eat your eyes! I am now lost to your cause ! The darkness comes! It will damn us all!
