Jesus... Kotaku right about something, isn't this one of the signs of the Apocalypses?$30 increase for N64 emulation...
KOTAKU WAS RIGHT!
This is why companies love subscription services. It's much easier to exploit gullible people.30 dollars ... a year. This is nothing
Profit maximizing, that's why. Most people would buy just two or three of their favorite classics, paying a small sum once. With a subscription you force them to pay annually. Why don't they sell nes/snes/n64 games standalone? I don't even mind buying overpriced roms, its nintendo afterall. But why should I paymonthlyannually? Just sell me the rom.
It's not a price increase, it's just "the price." This part of the service has not existed before and the old one isn't going away, nor has it's price changed. There's a difference between expensive and overpriced. 150% yearly price increase for a few 20-30 year old games that have already been re-released a thousand times definitely classifies as the latter.
lol ... Are you assuming I have money trouble, or that it would come from monthly fees? I will rephrase, "for me, 30 dollars a month is nothing."This is why companies love subscription services. It's much easier to exploit gullible people.
It's strange how so many Americans find themselves in money trouble after having so many monthly fees, many they've forgotten they're paying for in the first place. Math tells me that "Nothing" multiplied by 50 is still Nothing. Yet, for some reason, it doesn't work out that way. Strange.
They're $10 a piece on Wii U right now for N64 games. Genesis games were like $30 for all of them in that insane compilation they released a few years ago. It's not a price increase, it's just "the price." This part of the service has not existed before and the old one isn't going away, nor has it's price changed.
Those N64 games would likely all be 10-15 dollars (if not more) on their own on the e-shop too so ...
Not sure I'm gonna do it. I don't need the games as I've played them all many times before but if I do, 30 bucks isn't even dinner for two for one night. It's just not even something worth thinking about.
So with the family plan everyone gets the DLC? That's a pretty good deal then in that type of situation. But do you get to keep the DLC when/if you cancel your subscription? So this is a really interesting concept to me and could be incredible value if Nintendo keeps adding content.
My wife and kids watched the AC direct, and want to play the new content. At $25 a pop that would cost me $75 total to get it for the three AC players in the house. Or I could just upgrade our online plan for $45 more and save money and get other little bonuses. So for at least this coming year I can justify the upcharge.
If they keep adding expansion packs and content that I want to this plan, and it ultimately saves me money, then I'll keep it going. If they don't I'll simply drop back down to the standard plan. I did the same for PS+ after it's first amazing year, and then when all subsequent years were filled with western shovelware.
Right on the money. They're $10 a piece on Wii U right now for N64 games. Genesis games were like $30 for all of them in that insane compilation they released a few years ago.
You're right that $30 isn't changing anyone's life, but I just am unusually let down with the service as is. Some of those NES games are so bad I wouldn't take them for free. Announcing that you double the cost of anything is also bad. This is more than doubling.
In general, it's bad. If you just don't care though and wanted to play some of these classics, I get it. Not the end of the world for me either way. It's a very skippable option if people don't want it.
I eat fruits and yogurt every morning ..Lol it's like you're only able to look at one side of the equation.
You must be the type who buys crappy breakfast cereal, just because it's on sale.
There is no one behind you holding a gun demanding you must buy this ..If you don't have a problem with it then why the hell don't you pitch in and pay for us then? People like you piss me off
From what I gathered from the video that's how it looks to work, we will have to wait for more details to confirm that though. So with the family plan everyone gets the DLC? That's a pretty good deal then in that type of situation. But do you get to keep the DLC when/if you cancel your subscription?
Exactly. The cereal just sits in the cupboard.I eat fruits and yogurt every morning ..

I also am very curious what happens to your DLC if you let your subscription run out, my assumption is you just now own it forever but who knows. How would they even control that given the way this AC expansion pack integrates with your main game? I can't see it retroactively removing all your upgrades, recipes, ect that you integrated into your main island.
How Nintendo can even begin to justify this monumental price increase is beyond me. What an absolute joke.
My post or Nintendo's ridiculous price hike?I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around this.
My post or Nintendo's ridiculous price hike?
Just nonsense, isn't it. The service barely offers value as is (and that's at my current price of £18 a year) are N64 and Mega Drive games really driving value for consumers? Fucking Nintendo man, they've got people over a barrel I swear. The price. All of it actually. So is this Nintendo's version of PS+ or Xbox Live Gold? If so, how many people are cool with not getting current gen games on it? Like I'm confused. Your post was perfect.
It’s just an optional upgrade. Unless you really want to play N64/Genesis, you don’t have to upgrade. You can still do everything you did before at thr 20 USD mark. The price. All of it actually. So is this Nintendo's version of PS+ or Xbox Live Gold? If so, how many people are cool with not getting current gen games on it? Like I'm confused. Your post was perfect.
