When this game actually requires you to play like nioh, it is way harder than a souls game, which requires 0 skill outside of memorization, timing and spacing.
So you CAN get the sword and gami from adept?Lucky me! Decided to farm Adept Ninja-Dojo mission and got two legendary weapon smithing texts in just two fights
How are those things not part of skill? What a completely inane statement.
Man, this game is so good, can't stop playing it. I pretty much sleep 3 hours each day, then work, playtime with baby and back to game till 3am and back to work at 6am lol
I can see myself playing this for months. Just a small break for Nier Automata and back to Nuoh. Since yesterday I play this with Afro Samurai soundtrack and man it's so good. Kinda shame music is this game is really poor.
Got a trophy for consing the enemy. Absolutely no Idea what I did to confuse the yokai.
how come resting at shrines gives you extra amirita?
I had asked the same thing in here, had no idea. It means you caused the 'Discord' debuff by applying more than one elemental debuff to that particular enemy at once probably without noticing.
It causes their Ki bar to fully drain and not recover, basically leaving them in a constant stagger state and I think hits do more damage as well.
There's fuckingin this game. Nightmare fuel.spiders
Hey guys, I'm curious to hear thoughts on this game from people who aren't "Soulsborne" fans, or anyone that specifically dislikes those games.
Without digging through this whole thread, all I've heard so far on Nioh are comments from people who are either huge fans of those games, or at least enjoy them. I'd love to see what people have to say who love Nioh but don't like Souls/BB.
To elaborate a bit, once I found out about this game's loot system and skill/talent tree stuff, I became quite intrigued. I want to hear from people who appreciate the game more from that point of view, the loot/skill/RPG area, rather than the action/combat end.
Any links to articles or videos would be appreciated, especially anything with deep dives into those systems. Thanks!
Okay so I just discovered Quick-Change...
"which requires 0 skill outside of memorization, timing and spacing."
Did not say they weren't at all. Try reading...
I just beat Umi-bozu last night. I died more times from walking off the platform than from the boss killing me. Still a pretty cool boss though, giant lazers and all. I liked that the level lets you alter the difficulty depending how many fires you light too, I'm interested to see someone do it with no fires.
Reading this thread is making me feel like I should invest some points into magic for later in the game. Have not put a single point into it so far. In soulsbourne I've always been strictly melee attacks.
Anyone ever check to see if the Dual Sword's Mystic Arts are passive and can be used with other weapons?
At least 20.

The damn water is the real boss in that level! I fell so many times I started to question my ability to play video games lol.I just beat Umi-bozu last night. You basically said "requires 0 skill outside of these 3 elements of skill that don't count for arbitrary reasons I just decided." Try writing a better argument....

What is this nonsense?
Another one of those dudes with their own arbitrary definition of "skill."
Skill is the ability to do something well. Being able to identify attack patterns, learning how to use space to your advantage and being able to execute on all of this at the right time is all very much a direct result of player skill.
It works only with dual sword. I have the reduced damage one and I only get the status icon with dual swords
which you have decided to read as "requires 0 skill outside of these 3 elements of skill that don't count for arbitrary reasons I just decided.".
Again you choose to think thats what i meant. I even followed up on what i meant by that on the last page.
I never thought I'd do this but I used my Edge card(full value) trade in on Nioh today.
Its not that the game is bad by any means but I finished 3 regions and it became utterly repetitive.
I feel like I got the point of the game and I lost the drive to continue on.
I despise the loot system and the game sort of became "too gamey" for me. The sense of immersion and mystery are completely lost to me at this point.
I think the game highlighted to me why FromSoftware are such masters.
Bloodborne is a far greater game.It kept pulling me in and every element worked together to reveal a greater mystery,a greater whole at the end.
I'll definitely continue Nioh sometime down the line after a discount but the games vision is a bit too narrow for my taste.
It sounds like a lot of bullshit but really this game simply didnt instill a sense of awe and discovery for many reasons I cant quite put into words. It got boring!

Please gaf, enlighten me. Why i now respawn with only 3 elixirs instead of 5?
...yeah that's probably burn out. Pace yourself!Honeymoon is wearing off for me I think...maybe I burnt myself out (50 hours only on region 3).
Kind of eager to just finish it and get back to Yakuza 0.
Might just be an off day for me though. I don't know.
Thats the way I feel about souls to be honest. I play them for the atmosphere but find the games incredibly stale game play wise. The combat just isn't any fun for me. To me that's what souls is missing is the game part. It has atmosphere in spades but when the combat is slow, over animated, and limited it kills my drive to play own all of them completed 3 (DeS,Dks,BB). If the combat in souls was more like monster hunters (not even asking for nioh complexity) it would be so much more fun.I never thought I'd do this but I used my Edge card(full value) trade in on Nioh today.

Kind of a shame to see people stick with one weapon and even worse, one stance of that one weapon type.
Did you go to a new region? You have to find kodama. The more you find, the more your max elixir start number goes up. Or at least that's what I think.
I'm in the fourth or fifth region and kind of feeling the exact same way. Loot system is terrible, way too much junk and menu management, and the whole game is only about the combat. Exploration's not very interesting, don't give a hoot about the fiction, aesthetic is incredibly one-note, so all that's left is the combat, which is fun, but also there are like a dozen enemy types, it seems like.
While those things do require skill, Nioh I think expands it to the next level. Utilizing concepts from character action games in addition to the sort of cerebral combat popularized from FromSoftware titles. Furthermore, managing enemy stamina adds in additional layer that I don't think people are taking advantage of. Often times it's best to fight an enemy based on it's stamina bar, not really it's health. Always thought that alone required people to juggle more concepts at once than Souls combat, which is basically bait attack - block with shield - attack 3 times then backdash.
