No Man's Sky Spoiler Thread

We're going to have to use our imaginations with some of the... Trillions and trillions of randomly generated creatures. I think some will make more sense than others.

Ok,this is just dumb...

Three clearly different body sections stitched together like Frankenstein's monster, different colors and it's a quadruped creature with no eyes, nose or mouth?

The temp is -20C, which is well below freezing, so how does this creature "eat" nutrients on a frozen planet? It has an ocean bottom-feeders characteristics, but it's on land with 4 legs and a long neck.

I know it's just a videogame, but this makes no sense when Sean said ecology and environment were factors in animal generation.

You'll eat crow when mankind discovers a similar alien species, in the exact same ecological circumstances in the year 23457! Mark my words!! ;)

Fucking yes

I found an entire system of pretty badass planets! It was such a shift in my gameplay. It was like 4 for 4 planets I really enjoyed playing on - two of them were Fauna: Generous and one of those was very green and seemed flush with life. The planets have a healthy supply of pretty solid resources, and one of the other two lesser-life planets had a blob-like "creature" that was harvestable for a resource I'd never seen before! All in all, I've probably spent more time in this one system than I have any other 8-10 systems combined. This is a huge positive step for me in accepting that cool planets can and do really exist!
I saw some really wild looking creatures tonight! I don't know if this has anything to do with me playing near the center, or if it's just dumb luck, or what... but I had a lot of woah look at that weird mofo moments tonight. I'll post some in screenshots down below! (Some I don't have screenshots of because I had to kill it before it killed me!!!)

Frankenstein monsters aside, the game looks really rough in general. Would love to see if the PC version is looking like the trailers they've shown.

Yup. You'll need to learn to accept that this universe is not ours, and it's not bound by what we know (or think we know) about potential alien life.

Well, don't believe everything is said in marketing.

We would probably be amazed at how weird and indeed 'alien' life would be elsewhere, as well as what types of environments it can survive in. Just looking at what thrives at the deepest depths of the ocean and even in toxic soups around hot springs here on Earth is probably just the tip of the iceberg of what is actually possible. In short:

Do you honestly believe that there is an existing creature in the universe that has green dinosaur-like back legs, brown deer-like front legs and a slug neck/face? 3 different animal parts in one creature? Hey, I love me some universe imagining and I believe other life forms exist in this universe, but really? I understand you wanting to defend a game you anticipate, but that looks ridiculous and unbelievable. Not a deal-breaker mind you, but it looks stupid imo. Yes, I understand that it is procedurally generated. But still.

Wow at the new stream. That planet looked mind blowingly big and beautiful! Also love how it would have taken him 3:00:00 to get there with just the normal thrusters.

OMG THAT WATER HNGGGG

I mean I don't think 180 million worlds is really 'boxed in', but yes, you can't jump around the universe at will, it's one galaxy at a time. Although maybe you can go back to previous galaxies, I don't know.

I'm not saying the game is small and linear. I'm saying that the progression from I've galaxy to another is a linear progression (maybe?). Whether or not a galaxy is still an impossible amount of content to see all of, it's still smaller in scale than the terms used to describe this game until now.

There are plenty of earth animals that survive in sub zero environments, like bison and reindeer.

I mean it's a weird alien creature. I haven't seen another one that has that sort of 3 tone look. So you know, there's weird stuff.

I think given quintillions of planets there'll be some stuff that is just ridiculous. I hope I find some of it too.

Compared to some of the crazy temps we've seen in this game with life still hopping around, -20C is downright normal.

I honestly have no clue. Do you? But I imagine that, yes, there is indeed life out there that we can't even come close to comprehending that exists far beyond our laws here on Earth. We are not even a germ on a germ's turd on the grand scale of things. But we like to think we are.

The no eyes, nose or mouth don't bother me. You could think up a way that it absorbs nutrients in a non-traditional manner.

What I don't like is that it's so clearly stitched together.

Why not? People thought the platypus was a fake for decades.

Arguably this creature is less weird.

When did Junji Ito get hired onto the team?

Yes. My intelligence tells me that 3 animals spliced together does not exist. Sure, there are things out there that will likely look "alien" to us, but not like this lol. Anyway, stupid discussion, it's a video game, I regret that I continued this discussion. Let's move on.

My intelligence tells me that I have no fucking clue what is out there, but I can use my imagination. Especially in a game that allows me to do what this one does. But I agree, let's move on.

So space combat apparently sucks? That will kill it for me depending on how bad it actually is. It didn't look great at all in videos so i'm not surprised.

I mainly wanted to play as a space pirate... Or a bounty hunter thingo... Rip the dream.

Yeah but there are animals on earth that look sticthed together, like tapirs and platypuses. It would bother me if all the creatures looked stiched together, but this so far seems to be the only one with that look. So far I've been very pleased with creature variety and the fact that it can throw up stuff that looks so different is a positive. I'd like to find at least a few WTF animals that make no sense. If that's all the game was then ok it would be a problem - but there are plenty of more mundane looking things too.

This.

I hope he stays on this planet until daytime, it looks really cool.
First leaked video/stream I've seen where they're playing how I intend to play. Getting chills watching this.

God damn though the inventory fills fast. That'll be my first upgrade for sure.

And now it's daytime! Amazing.

after watch a fairly amount of stream, all i can say it is a really tedious game, or the streamer was no very creative in the gameplay. He just keeps walking on a really boring look planet savaging stuff. at least the grass looks cool

Judging by that player's grasp of upgrade and management mechanics, it could be fine but he's just not getting it.
