No Man's Sky Spoiler Thread

Thinking a bit about it, I think the Bypass Chips are badly designed. They should have implemented it like how you activate other terminals in the game - just demand 10 Iron and 10 Plutonium upon activation of the device, instead of forcing you to craft an item first.

Makes sense if the Bypass Chips have other uses we don't know yet. Then it becomes a matter of resource management, use the material for a chip or another item

Sure, but you can craft them at any time, so if you just keep the required materials in your inventory it will always be better than crafting the chips in advance.

Sorry, I'm having a discussion with a person regarding the game and the stream, this person claims that Hello Games lied regarding the playtime of the game when they said it'll take between 60 to 100hs to reach the center of the universe straight (that's what this journalist is saying they said, which is weird since that looks like a pretty wide estimation). As far as I know withouth knowing much of the stream, it took the streamer close to 40hs right?

Either way I'm saying that it's weird to take one random person opinion as a weapon to diminish the game and the word of the developer and even if it takes that time, devs always tend to claim they games are longer than it really is for people so is not breaking news.

Anyway, this person says that No Man's Sky deserves all the backlash is getting so my question is: Does the game is receiving any backlash? Does the streamer said if the game is good or bad to him? because honestly I haven't read any backlash yet.

There's a quote from HG that states 40-100 hours. Show your friend that guy beat it by 5 hours.

He said that he likes the game a lot but the game has some flaws and had some nitpicks. Some of those are likely bugs that he hopes are fixed, some of them might be design decisions. The fact that you can fly through giant enemy space ships with no collision and that fish are spawning above ground seems like a bug, the fact that you can easily farm some resources to become OP and that you can hide in space stations and cheese enemy ships seems like a design oversight.

First off, there seem to be a lot of bugs at the moment. There might even be a day one patch. I don't think it's fair to say they lied just yet.

Secondly, the guy made it to the center in that time using an exploit that may or may not be intended to be an actual part of the game. We just don't know yet.

I would tell your friend to hold his horses in the name of good journalism.

However, he can grill them all night and day long for there not being any PC footage or info while it's supposed to be launching day and date with the PS4 version but they are ok with taking pre-orders for it...

Interesting. I'd be fine with 30 but 60 would be icing on the cake.

In a tech talk the dev said because they have control over the LoD they can keep it running at a smooth 60fps but it's unclear whether he was referring to the PS4 version. Perhaps it adjusts on the fly to enable a smooth 60fps on both. A bit like dynamic resolutions.

I could take one of these things.

Uuuuuugh... it's still the coolest looking thing, and it sucks that it probably isn't in the game anymore.

I hope you're not assuming this based on no one having seen something like this in the retail version.

Keep in mind that Sean Murray has said that he intended for some of the more awesome and crazy looking things (specifically, I believe it was in reference to dinosaur-looking animals) to be one in a million experiences.

Just because it hasn't shown up in a stream doesnt mean it's not in the game

And it doesnt work like that anyway. They can't just remove an individual creature, the devs probably never found that creature ever again

Any word on a NEO patch? I've waited so long for this game but if they are going to be putting a NEO patch out for it I might just wait another month or so and make it my launch title. What an experience that would be.

I mean, they haven't even officially announced the Neo yet. House said it's real and that's it. So... no there hasn't been any word on a Neo patch for this or any other game.

The Neo hasn't even been formally announced, I doubt we'll be hearing about a Neo patch before the official announcement.

There's still seems to be a lot of missing information regarding universe vs galaxy. The streamer got to the center of a galaxy, not of the universe.

Now is there a center of the universe? Going by quotes, seems like there is.. but there hasn't been any concrete evidence otherwise, and the streamer got the platinum trophy by the time he got to the center of his first galaxy.. so it's hard to tell what's what.

Not remove individual creatures, but they could reduce the maximum creature size. But who said they did or didn't? Nobody.

I worded that poorly. I mean, House said all games starting in Sept would be required to have the capabilities to run on it. This game is obviously Aug release but I just cannot imagine they would not push it through. So, no, there is no official confirmation on NEO as in this is what it is but we know for sure that games made after a very near date will be required to be able to run on it.

Was just hoping a GAF insider had heard rumblings. I'm really excited for the game and having it on NEO would be boss.

wait what? why isnt it in the game anymore???

I personally believe it is gone for two reasons:

- this is so old it was concept art at best
- things feel rather technically limited so far and they likely couldn't make creatures at this scale or type work (see how sea creatures have worked out so far)

I was sure that it was stated "center of the universe" in recent interviews and even a trailer I think... weird.

So after a couple more days, has this been dis-proven yet??

How has the primary path to center been different for each streamer playing the game so far?

We don't know. Data needed to make such comparison(s) don't exist in a way we could access it.

Goodness...the abundance of idiotic names alone might be enough to make me not want to play this.

Or do I only see what I name and nothing else?

Or does everyone get to see that I named each planet Richard Peckerwood 1st, Richard Peckerwood 2nd, etc...
Well, only the people that find your planets

Are you asking if people are being given paths through completely different systems? Yes, of course they are.

I really don't understand where the idea that this changed came from. You will start in a random spot in the Euclid galaxy. So will I. The "path" seems to be the game just giving you the most direct route from where you are, to the center.

But is the Euclid galaxy a static galactic map that is the same for everyone? Or could everyone's galaxy just be randomly generated from a unique seed?

What kinds of events have happened on the "happy path" planets to center for players so far? Is there a main event on each one that allows them to propel forward? A discovery that gives coordinates for the next "happy path" planet?

This is the part I'm more worried might be true:

hIhpTOK.png

...and we're not really moving towards a physical "center".

How far "out" can we zoom the galactic map? Can we view the entire circular galaxy and see our current location relevant to the center? Can we see the edge? etc

And I don't know if they ever indicated that we would have a constant marker of which planet / system to head for next on the way to center... I always imagined you could zoom out the map to view the galaxy, and it would be like:

- you are here
- center is there
- Good Luck!

There is only one seed. Every single thing in the game is already decided by the math using that seed. So the Euclid galaxy (which seems to be the name of the starting galaxy) will always be the same for everyone, but we are all so impossibly far apart that there is only a small chance we'll even see the same planets and star systems, much less actually cross paths in real time.

There is no "randomly generated" content for individual players.

I haven't watched every stream, but has any of them developed the technology that brings your ship to you if you get too far away from it while exploring a planet?

The quests for progression don't seem tied to any specific system, but the game will provide the queues for quests on appropriate npcs.

As far as I understand, the first galaxy is static, in that every star is in the same place for everyone. Everyone starts at a different star around the edge. The game nudges you to the centre and gives you a path of least resistance - otherwise it would be potentially be lost in billions and billions of stars.

If this is 100% confirmed then I am happy. That and if it is actually shaped like a galaxy and we are moving towards a true "center".

That first streamer had strange thinking as to why he was convinced there was no "center", but instead an "end" to a path with nothing beyond. I think it was all because things didn't get more "cluttered" or "densely populated" near the "center". That made him convinced that it would not be more likely to encounter other players near the center because things weren't more cluttered/dense. Well... yes it still does because closer to center would mean more players gathering up in the same area... it's not about density of planets, it is about density of players.

Anyways... we shall see!
