Pretty sure this is because the 3DS isn't powerful enough to run them both at once.
Is it eating into the OS' RAM?
Are they unencrypted with Smash 4 though? In Brawl, they were compressed JPEGs and used some random encryption. I helped make a tool to decrypt those ages ago, but it would be different if a new encryption scheme is used. It's actually not necessary. All that does is post the pics from your SD card to the internet, you could take the card out and put it in your computer for the same effect.
Why would it be beyond dumb? It makes perfect fucking senseOk, this is beyond dumb.
Do we know yet if in-game screenshots and replays are in a readable format?
They should have made the game with the current RAM in mind.

The themes firmware may have it (there is a Y button shortcut with a symbol of a rectangle and a photo, it could be screensohts...I can't see it being the theme shop)Wait for Nintendo to release an old3DS-exclusive app to share pictures on Miiverse rofl.
Oh wow, that's some shit. Hopefully this gets patched or something.
Yeah as posted on the previous page, the 3DS has 64 meg of RAM for games and 44 meg for multitasking programs like Miiverse and the web browser. They decided to consume that extra 44 megs as well so the game has more to work with.
For comparison, the Wii had 88 megs of RAM for Brawl, I can understand why they'd need more than 64 for this game.

They can't really patch more RAM into your 3DS.Oh wow, that's some shit. Hopefully this gets patched or something.

They did, they just chose to steal the ram from the web browser and miiverse and give us a better game
It's not going to get patched. This is a tradeoff for performance, and it's highly unlikely that this game can get significantly more optimized than it is now to make OS functions available again.
Is it normal that Miiverse can't run when a game is running? Never have used it on my 3DS as far as I remember. Also, what about Twitter?
I took a moment, and now I take back what I said earlier in this thread in support of this.i'll gladly sacrifice miiverse for 60 fps.
the game itself has a screenshot tool so it's not like there's no way to get pictures.
Then how does Sakurai post them to Miiverse?????
I honestly think this is the way to go . Cut some non-vital features for the sake of a better game (how many % more RAM are we talking about ?).
It sucks for those who wanted to post a lot of screenshots on Miiverse on their o3DS though.
Future-proofing is a silly concept, you don't know what you need until you need it. Miiverse wasn't even a thing when 3DS came out.
So now the 3DS is losing features so the n3DS can gain exclusive ones? This is bullshit.
Don't worry, Nintendo isn't trying to sell a new Wii U. The Wii U miiverse is safe.

Sure. Have improved graphics on the n3DS instead of a feature that's been standard on the 3DS for quite a while now.
About 70% extra ram
Why don't program a custom screenshot code that you can run in pause mode? I mean, just dump the framebuffer, can't be that hard and omg can't eat that much ram. Nintendo smh.
Well you can post the screenshots captured in-game to twitter or other image sites no problem: https://twitter.com/VOOK64/status/510454588764213248

So now this is completely a non-issue.Well you can post the screenshots captured in-game to twitter or other image sites no problem: https://twitter.com/VOOK64/status/510454588764213248

Wow. Then prefering Miiverse over the additional RAM is absolute madness.
From what I've read, exactly this is the case with Smash 3ds.Oh, I think I misunderstood your post.
Also, this.
