No more Camleot love for Nintendo?

Well it does show one thing... no matter how tight you think a developer might be with their publisher, they're never immune to fat sacks of cash.
We used to make love and stay up together to see the sun come up :'(

Camelot... Why....

this makes me kind of sad, but hopefully this means the next iterations of mario sports games are better. mario golf on the gc kinda sucked, tennis was rad though.

Wow. Square, Sega, and now Camelot are all making broader and broader commitments to PC MMOs.

It's scary, but in a few years Japan and Korea will probably break down like this:

Hardcore gamers: Asian PC MMOs
Everyone else: Nintendo non-games

They shouldn't be making sports games at all :/

What's left? PC and 360? :lol

Camelot sure is picky. To go through Sega, Sony, and Nintendo like that.

AniHawk said:
No. They hate Sony.
Not even that, but I can't see Sony having any desire to give Camelot funding when they already have Clap Hanz. So unless Camelot bounce around different third party publishers making PS2 or PSP games, MS really does seem like the perfect fit for them.

Although, if Clap Hanz and Camelot were to join together, hot damn!

Doesn't matter, there's a very thin line between love and hate, and luring them over that line shouldn't be too difficult. ~_~

Where's this guy's "SDF:Recruiting Specialist" tag?

Jonnyram said:
Give it up. It's too late - they're working for 11up. If they don't have time for Nintendo, why would they have time for Sony? :P

Oh well, we'll get them next time!!!

Yeah! Where was the mini golf?!

:lol

I'm not a huge fan of Camelot myself, but it seems so strange considering the recent discussions we've had here.

This sounds hard to believe -- why jump ship when it's finally getting moving after all these years?

Camelot is pretty overrated, but not the way Rare was overrated -- they still make pretty solid games and would still be able to benefit a lot from being close to Nintendo, I'd think.

Sony ****ed their relationship up with the first Hot Shots, IIRC. Over what specifically, I dunno. It was right after their falling out with Sega over SF III I think.

Would this be exacerbated by the development/hype/love of all things WiiSports, and the evolution of (EAD?) as its main developers?

beaten!

What if they left because Nintendo didn't want Mario spinoffs on Wii?

....what the ****?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Camelot was one of last GOOD Nintendo second parties left. How could this happen? :(

Camelot was never a second-party in the Rare/SK sense. Nintendo did not own part of the company. Camelot was exclusive to Nintendo purely by choice.

Eh? Rare is the most successful Nintendo assistant in history. Camelot (or anyone else for that matter) was nowhere near them. Unless you mean nowadays.

"What does exacerbate mean?" :P

I was gonna mention that before, but WiiSports are nowhere near as indepth as Camelot's sports titles. That and I'm lazy.

Nintendo have been killing themselves internally the past four years.

Rare, SK, Factor 5, and now Camelot - and that's to name but a few of their now-dead partnerships.

I'm aware of that. But they were still second party by those ground rules nonetheless.

i think maybe youre overestimating the depth of camelots sports titles.

How about Left Field? :P

But eh, we've seen that Nintendo has done well without them.

For me it seems like the game was announced for PC and not for a Nintendo Platform. Then they said, that they weren't doing any N-work at the moment. It's not a complete cut-off from Nintendo, as far as I see. They announced a Wii-game long ago too.

Let me check up on it - I think you're overreacting about this.

Relatively of course.

All you do is putt in WiiSports Golf, am I correct?
And all you do in Tennis is swing the racket/raquet, but you don't have to move your character.

Of course this could change, but given the aim of WiiSports (simple as possible), I wouldn't think so

only rare was internal though

Isn't this part of Nintendos plan to purge all their second parties? I remember there was something written about this a while back.

PantherLotus said:
That's the point.
But nearly all the hubbub about WiiSports is due to the intuitiveness of the remote, not the simplicity of the game.

Why would Camelot get jealous for THAT reason? :O

SantaCruZer said:
so it's not 100% confirmed yet?
It's definitely possible to be false, they just announced that they are making a new golf MMO called I LOVE GOLF. Outside of that this could be a misunderstanding on the Japanese blog. But they aren't making anything for a Nintendo platform right now.

That may be so, but it doesn't mean that Nintendo couldn't have tempted some of their best with a handful of cash. Their business decisions are really strange - it's almost as if they WANT to be on their own.

Order 64
Actually who are the remaining second parties now?
They've all run away from Nintendo like madcow

Don't forget Left Field. They were the first to go.
Who? :P

Saw this at Nintendo In side this morning couldn't quite work it out so didn't post it.
its because of

Could you give me a direct link to that? I want to see if it's a misunderstanding :) I expect it's in japanese (the original source)

I just hope it means less Mario sports titles every 2 months, but uhm... I'm still kinda stunned, weren't they working on a Wii RPG? @_o

Iwata was put in charge of Nintendo to revive the company, however it's obvious that Rare, and SK 5 left Nintendo for different reasons. Rare and SK even still speak highly of Nintendo. Not sure what happen to Left Field and Factor 5 exactly.

It's obvious that Iwata is the one who made these changes in Nintendo though.

Wii said:

Alphadream
Brownie Brown
Fuse Games
Noise

Sure there's a few more I'm forgetting. Not even sure if they're all Second parties, but they haven't made any games for any non-Nintendo systems yet, so until further notice, they're second parties.

And that was in the making as a Gamecube game a couple years ago. I think I remember rumors from around E32K3 about Camelot doing a GC RPG.

Of course, that was E32K3, and it wasn't that good for Nintendo and Camelot was making Golden Sun 2 anyways.

Cept the Rare deal went through nearly a year before Iwata became prez. :P

I would really like to see them go back to Sony, but I'd highly doubt that to happen. But pretty much everything Camelot does best would be a great fit on PSP, imo. Clap Hanz has pretty much taken the reins for golf and tennis, but I'd be happy to see Camelot do portable versions, and some new RPGs.

I would like to see them go back to Sega to take over Shining again, but I don't know, I'd prefer to see them do original stuff.

Looks like they're partnering with 11up to make online PC games :/
What a waste of talent.
Damn. That seriously is a waste of talent.

Not sure about Alphadream, but Brownie Brown is first party and Fuse is a third party.

He was already at Nintendo though, undoubtedly to make financial decisions. I have no doubt he is only of the reason Yamauchi didn't at least buy 2% of Rare's shares to become the majority holder.
