In the Famitsu thread, someone begged for S&P2 to be ported to the PS3.
Instant ban and a good laugh.

They have, but it's way more subtle.

It's stuff like "Galaxy was a good game, but can you imagine how much better it would be on an HD system?"

NMH was originally meant to be a PS3/360 game anyway wasn't it?

In a way, it's just coming home.

It was a concept for a 360 game, but after the Wii was announced, it was decided that that should be the game's home.

I wonder if they're going to change the Virtual Boy that he's wearing. I can't imagine that Nintendo would be too happy if that stayed in.

That would require Nintendo to acknowledge the Virtual Boy's existence.

I really wonder what they'll do with the opening.
Are they going to have him say "And you there, holding the game controller"?
It just seems so... wrong...

you're not going to be playing this with a game controller? :0

In the intro cutscene at the beginning of the game, Travis talks to the player saying, "And for you there holding the Wii Remote right now... Just press the A Button. Let the bloodshed begin."

oh right. Been ages since I played NMH so I hope you'll forgive for being hazy on the details.

my revised post: Big fucking deal.

as an aside, that intro (and whole first level) was rad.

Even though the combat will probably be pretty bland without motion, I'll double dip.
Unless they charge $60 for it or something, in which case screw that.

You kind of just sold me on the game.

The non-action minigames are godawful. And you're forced to do them. And there's this whole process involved where you have to go somewhere, activate the quest, then go to where the quest is and do the quest. I don't know if you have to go back to where you activated the quest in the first place to collect the money. It's been two years and I only played through the game once.

The sequel sounds like they're fixing a lot of those problems so I've got hopes that this will be more entertaining outside of the story.

The gas station minigame is one of the highlights of this gen for me.

I think my only real issue comes down with them announcing it before NMH2 was released.
I don't particularly care what platform it's on, personally, since I'm just a big fan... but I can't help but feel that people who skip out on the Wii version and go straight to this are doing themselves a big disservice.

Graphics were never the highlight of this game, and all this really offers the gamer is better graphics. I think people who are stoked to 'finally be interested in this game' simply because the graphics are better are totally missing the point. Of course this doesn't apply to Xbox/PS3 only owners, but the control for the Wii is done so perfectly, it's so comfortable and the speaker usage is the best I've experienced, well, ever, and the visceral satisfaction of nailing a wrestling move or doing a motion-finisher... I don't know, you're losing all of that. This isn't definitive to me, or how it was intended to be played.

How silly will some of the wrestling moves feel, or not being able to switch stances on the fly by tilting, or the gym training exercises, or some of the mini games, on a standard controller? It'll just feel kind of... I don't know, pointless.

So anyway, I'm glad Xbox and PS3 only owners will get to experience this amazing game (the story and characters alone are worth it) but those who also own a Wii who say they'll skip out on NMH2 waiting for the PS3 port or whatever... I don't know, this is where it makes me slightly sad to see this announcement made now.

I also think it will negatively effect the sales of NMH2 Wii, which tells me this a) wasn't Grasshopers idea and b) wasn't Ubisoft's idea. I know Suda originally concepted it to be an Xbox game, but that's nowthow it was ultimately designed and not why it was such a big success... and based on recent interviews, it seems he intends it to stay on this console line.

So Marvelous needs the cash and are porting it themselves, go ahead, but they should have announced it after NMH2 and released later with some extra content or something. Oh well. At least more people will meet Travis... maybe I'll even pick it up, which is likely, but at least I experienced it how it was meant to be already.

This post perfectly summarizes my thoughts. I mean so it has better graphics. So what? That's completely against the point. What made No More Heroes so great was it's style and motion controls. Hell if anything it having bad graphics was "part" of the game (I know this sounds stupid but for those who have played it will understand). I mean this is almost as bad as when Capcom ported Dead Rising to the Wii. Who gives a shit that the game has motion controls?

And announcing this AFTER No More Heroes 2 has been announced for some time and will soon release is a terrible move. It just further shows Marvelous's incompetence.

Now I really hope that people don't get things twisted and think of me as some crazy Wii fanboy. I agree that it would be great to have as many people to play this game as possible, but more so in the way it was originally intended and meant to be.

You're missing so many points I'm not over sure what you're hitting.

Gas Station was my favorite too.

This and the lawn mowing one are the only two I remember. I hated both, but the way the lawn mowing one controlled stuck with me for whatever reason.

I tried to stick to generic action minsegments for the cash collectathon parts.

I was thinking about this port today, and what I find really amusing about it is the entire Letz Shake battle. It's very clearly a reference to the financial success of the Wii (and you can make an argument so was the very first trailer) over the 360 and the PS3... and now they're getting ports without motion control :lol

Whatever. I hope it plays well.

Killer 7 had a very mixed response from people who played it. Had it been very much positive, then it probably would have sold better on PS2 than GC, unless it happened to be that most interested members of the gaming population happened to have a GC. If they weren't, then it was because the interested parties became uniterested in the game for whatever reason. Mostly, it seems, because of poor WOM, or even a lack of WOM, which can take the wind out of potential future sales.

Maybe it would have helped if the killer7 PS2 port hadn't been shit? Don't forget that.

How does it make sense that Destroyman was cut in half but his voice actor confirmed voicing the same character in NMH2? It's a Suda game, someone will sew his head back on.

This. Far more than a "waggle game," No More Heroes is meant to be played with motion controls.

True.

(The Classic Controller support would make it easier to port the game to other systems. Did that come into discussion at all?)

You're right, but No More Heroes is a Wii title. So even though it's compatible with the Classic Controller, I'd still like you to enjoy it with the Wii Remote because that's how No More Heroes should be played.

What I don't get is why they're even offering CC support when it's not how the game "should be played". I won't be using it anyway.

Loved the retarded minigames. :)
I enjoyed drifting in the retarded overworld. :)

And I definitely enjoyed the randomness.

People should experience this game. It is art. It is art in a way that only games can be.

My issue with the game was the depth of the combat. it was pretty shallow. wish you could control wrestling moves and finishers more. also for some reason, the combo powerups stopped being used by me after the first couple of missions. Combat was just hit A or hold B and then do a motion. without the waggle finishers and motion wrestiing I honestly dont know what will be left of the combat... :/

edit: or the minigames. forgot many of them were motion based... I was disappointed when they said NMH2 would have cc support.... curious to see how it works out.

I thought they were adding it in because many core games in Japan that are coming out or recently came out in japan use CC and they were somewhat succesful. But I hear NMH2 does not have a japanese release date... so... I am completely clueless

Gonna double dip. I really enjoyed it on the Wii and I can't wait to replay it in HD. I'm gonna hate having to do the mini games to earn money though =(

I never really got the hate for the minigames. You only have to do each one once, each one lasts exactly 3 minutes. 3 minutes is just enough time to figure out what you have to do and go for the high score. Way too quick for it to get tedious or annoying. Doing the minigames got you the reward of a little cash + unlocking more combat missions. They were a nice little break from fighting. Plus the stuff the guy who explained the jobs said was always insane and awesome.

2 things this topic makes me wonder:

1) will the PS360 version allow you to turn the cel-shading off. Remember how the Wii models looked without it?

2) will GAF ever stop using the word/term "visceral" incorrectly. :lol
1) No, thanks.
2) No, sorry.

I am one of them. But, on the other hand, I know a lot of gamers out there who don't have much patience. 'least that's what Bishop the dude at the video store said.

Very true. Motion controls are an integral part of this game, and this is one of the reasons why I consider it the best game, or one of the best games if that makes some people feel better, on the Wii: it nailed them perfectly.

Wii fans, it's bad enough you guys supported this crap game enough for them to think porting this shit to PS360 is a good idea.

It's bad enough you supported the crap game enough for them to make a Wii sequel, which whether exclusive or not might as well be with the window it's going to have to itself on the platform.

The game doesn't need wii remote controls, which were lame and frequently fell into the "isn't reliable and doesn't always work as it properly should" category. It needs quality game design! A non-repetitive battle system! A story that isn't masturbatory otaku fodder! Removal of the completely bullshit overworld! Fixing the framerate! Complete destruction of all the abysmal mini-games! Something resembling decent level designs! Is it going to get that on the PS360 version? Answer: No. Don't buy into the hype, avoid it!

If people buy this on PS360 and we get NMH2 ported, I am going to write a sternly worded letter to all of you! Get better taste!

...no, i would say he's pretty spot on. NMH has one of the best artstyles this gen. It was just poorly implemented on the Wii.

This isn't a Wii game in HD, though, as the Wii version most certainly does NOT look like that shot.
