Holy crap! Today's real megaton is that more than two people can have the same first name.
Thought this deserved a new thread. Lock if old / inappropriate.

We do not bring DOAX3 to the west and won't have any plan change in the future. Thank you for asking.

Do you know many issues happening in video game industry with regard to how to treat female in video game industry? We do not want to talk those things here. But certainly we have gone through in last year or two to come to our decision. Thank you.

This is gross. We're officially in an era where companies are going to refrain from releasing games that are in demand just because certain individuals have nothing better to do than to complain about things they had no interest in to begin with. It never ceases to maze me how petty and spiteful some people can be.

The "I don't want it so you can't have it!" mentality has no place in 2015, but regressive types have a louder voice than ever before. They have the audacity to paint themselves as progressives too.

They know what the game is and that it's not as acceptable as it is in Japan.
At least those that want it can import it in English (IIRC)

Not surprising sadly, even if we need more than a community manager's word on this.

Reminder for those new to the situation coming in that the asian version is with english subtitles, and the JP one likely is too.

Makes sense to me.

Can't even have a thread about SF without people going on about Mika.

I do wonder what this means for DoA in the future, though.

This is bullshit.

All cos of people complaining who aren't gonna buy the game anyway.

Who exactly is offended by this game and why? there's alot worse out there.

It's not like anybody cares past like 2 days. it's probably bs because the poll put the barely pubescent character in first place.

I fail to see how this is a bad decision. The people have spoken and K-T clearly understands such misogynistic games will no longer be tolerated in the west.

Err... Uhh.... What?

I have no horse in this race but I have always found the DoA games kind of creepy. I am not sure such overt sexualization is a positive thing though...

I kinda doubt he's really serious about that answer, it's a niche title that they're releasing on region unlocked machines with an english translation for those that want to import it. They're just saving money from having to publish it in the west. Before you all jump down a tumblr strawman's throat.

Don't matter. The Asian version is subtitled in English. Usually a sign that they don't plan on bringing a game west. Just import it. I did the day they announced.

Is Marie Rose really that much of a hot topic for this game? I know she's way more petite than the other characters, but I was under the impression that she's always been legal, unlike the funny business that keeps happening with Kasumi and Ayane.

Glad I imported.

But is this kind of backlash really a problem for Tecmo? I would think if anything, a controversy over the game would result in more visibility and higher sales, and I can't really think of a tangible downside.

I'd love for games like this to treat dudes the same way, but I also don't understand the outrage when it's a product purely for this purpose.

Do people get mad about porn?

I'm sure most users here will cry tears of joy that another offensive game from the evil, sexist country of Japan won't be invading their safe spaces.

Hello, my name is Yves Guillemot, Vivendi S.A.'s Employee of the Month!
He nailed it aside from the usual abrasiveness.

Nobody is taking the games away. I still stand by that. A corporation made a corporate decision (and if you think a few bloggers influence those decisions, you're an idiot) to not localize a game that probably doesn't sell very well in this market, all because it apparently can't handle the criticism it expects.
That's ALL on Tecmo Koei. They don't want to be criticized, so they're not bothering to bring a game out here. You wanna be mad at someone, be mad at a company not confident enough in its product to bring it out over here.
Or, y'know, look up some hentai or something.
It's a shame, though. I was looking forward to reviewing that.

Honestly, that's a fucking lame and unjustificable excuse.

You're a friggin developer, of course you're going to get shit for your work. But you have fans awaiting for your products, so grow a pair and release the game. It's not like the game can't pass the certification, so the rest is just bullshit.
If you're rather make your fans pay like 3 times the price of a game (that they can't even understand) because "what some press will say about our game" then you're a shitty company.

I'm really surprised that people here says that this childrish reaction from a professional developer makes sense.
