Deep breath, deep breath...
I'm still waiting for a WiiU version
CAPCOM said themselves the Wii U version of MH3U was a smash hit with something like ~500,000 units sold in 4 months in their 2013 fiscal release.

They ported the previous 3DS MonHun to WiiU though.
If they don't port 4 then its because of WiiU's poor sales probably.
In what world does MH4U on Wii U make sense? The one where it sells enough units to justify it? That is not this world.
Good controls. I have a 2ds. I guess fuck me in regards to playing MH4U because I can't use a frankenstick? Or should I get a 3ds purely for it?
You don't need one, I bought one and I stopped using it after a while, the controls are fine.

What? How?
There's the auto targeting for the monster, it works pretty well. The only times I HATED the camera was with underwater crap and that's gone.
There isn't auto targetting though. There's target lock, sure, but doesn't that necessitate recentering the camera every 2-3 seconds?
Well, so much for a version that alleviates some of the graphical concerns of the handheld game. It would've been nice to finish up 3u and have 4u waiting for me.

yeah I meant target lock, I got used to it REALLY fast and found it more effective that moving the camera myself.
I'd venture to guess if you're a Wii U owner, you already own a 3DS.
I read this really often, but this is not what I am experiencing at all.
I know 3 people who have Wii U and they don't own a 3DS. Another one is intereted in buying one since he played Nintendo Land and Game & Wario at my place, he doesn't care about a dedicated handheld gaming device, he plays on his phone.
I talked about this on an other message board, and someone agreed with me.
This is of course anecdotal evidence, but I think that a lot of people simply don't really like playing on a handheld, including me (I don't own a 3DS either).
So there is an audience for Wii U who is not interested in 3DS. Well the reactions here show that people care about "the big screen", so MH4U could make sense on Wii U in the West.
This would be interesting to have the rate of Wii U owner who don't have a 3DS device really. Some hints could be find by browsing Miiverse profiles since last Miiverse update.
Really? I used it briefly and found it incredibly frustrating, particularly with the need to use the touch screen to activate it. It just seems baffling that it couldn't actually LOCK instead of constantly having to re-center the camera.

And so PSP got 3 more Monhun games and 3 spinoffs. I'm not following your logic here? They were also thrilled with the PSP sales.

He isnt using any logic.sörine;116188079 said:And so PSP got 3 more Monhun games and 3 spinoffs. I'm not following your logic here?
You just have to activate it once on the touchscreen. After that you just tap the L-Button to focus on the monster. It's far from great controls but it works after you get used to it.
Underwater sections are pure frustration, no matter what though.
... So? Don't get me wrong, the Wii U version was superior, and not just because of the online. But the 3DS version is way more traditional, fun, and every bit as good, now that it has multiplayer. Sorry, but in the case of Monster Hunter, gameplay matters more than graphics.
Somehow I doubt announcing a Wii U port will affect sales of the 3DS version in Japan. If there is a Wii U version coming it would make sense for capcpom to deny it until after the Japanese 3ds release at least
Yeah, I know how it works, but it's frustrating. Having to pull out the stylus and tap the screen and put it back before the monster attacks you sucks, and constantly holding your hands on both L and R is uncomfortable, I prefer to keep them under the 2ds/3ds and use them when necessary. It fucking sucks. I don't dun into this problem with any other hunting game because they all wised up and either got decent control schemes or came out on platforms where you have a built in second analog stick.
