Nvidia Geforce GTX 1070 Review Thread

First 1070 FE at NCIX is listed at $654. Memory express is $620 (that's nearly $500 USD).

I think I'm out. I have a GSync monitor but I think I'm going to call it quits with NVidia. I can get a much cheaper 480 and save several hundred on my next monitor upgrade with AMD's FreeSync.

I'm getting tired of supporting NVidia's bullshit. I think they've finally pushed me over the edge.

1080 SC is $650...halfway between MSRP and Founders

1070 SC is $440...$10 less than Founders ($60 more than MSRP)

was hoping for more of an even comparison but guess that's not happening...any hopes of the FTW, Strix, Gaming X, etc being under FE pricing seems to be gone now

I'm not giving up hope yet. If it does turn out to be like that though, I guess this means I'm done with Nvidia.

EVGA tweeted that they sold out of the SC. Have yet to see anyone on the multiple sites I am on say they actually got to the order page.

The Founder's Editions aren't going to be hard to find guys. It's been available on all major online retailers the past 24 hours.

Just wadeitout.

So presumably, buying now or waiting a month won't make a difference? (we don't know of course, but from what I gather these 3rd party cards are not FE cards?)

I'd hope prices would drop in a month if demand slows and supply picks up. those custom cards are definitely being overpriced by retailers - they did the same with 1080 (gigabyte G1 was £559 on amazon, then £608)

Fuck Finland. Just order from germany or some other country.
Is that actually viable?
The prices for 1080 (for example) on amazon are only 10€ cheaper than the Finnish prices, surely the postage will make that a pointless endeavor? Unless amazon prices are not representative.

Just sold my 970 for NZ$400 today. Apparently the 1070FE are going to go for between NZ$900 and $1,000 (US$630-700). A bit more expensive than I was expecting... I'll wait for the custom ones to come out, hopefully they'll be a bit less expensive.

yeah...think I'm just gonna take a step back and hope the prices sort themselves out

seems like for the 1080s they started the pricing actually near the MSRP and went from there but for the 1070s they started them closer to the FE pricing

oh well

its all backwards. MSI 1070 gaming X is only a little above the FE, but the 1080 gaming X is quite a bit above the FE. The gigabyte G1 1080 is a lot less expensive than the MSI 1080, but the Gigabyte G1 1070 is more than the MSI 1070.

honestly...for the money you'd be spending to get one of the "higher end" 1070s you'd probably be better off just waiting and getting whatever the cheapest custom 1080 is and calling it a day

(I'm speaking out of annoyance more than anything right now so if I'm saying anything stupid just disregard it)

So I managed to put through the order for the Asus one and I got the order confirmation e mail from newegg. Am I in the clear now to cancel my Amazon pre orders, or should I wait on a shipping confirmation?

Mine says packaging and I just ordered. So I am guessing it is shipping today.

wait until it says they've charged your payment source or whatever...once it says that you can cancel

no you're absolutely right. KFA2 blower 1080 is about £525 which is actually cheaper than the MSI sea hawk 1070 (ok thats water cooled). And it'll perform about the same. Don't like the noise? Slap a corsair H55 on it for £50 and you have a cool, quiet 1080

LOL to be expected. The fucking 960 is like $300. I want the 480 but I expect it to be 350+ here so a cheap 290X on Kijiji looks like it may be the way to go if you don't want to get ripped off. Already seeing them again for 2-250 in London.

It still drives me up the wall Nvidia reduced their top card to shit in about a year.

Yeah but the top tier cards are normally like this. You pay a premium for the best card at that time. Thats why normally the XX70s, XX80s are normally better sellers. Still strong cards but you dont have to pay a mortgage payment to get one.

I'll hold out, my 980 can last till the fall, then prices will stabilize and more should be available.

Prolly go for a 1080 too.

...

I hate Nvidia.
