You know it is fucked up when you are losing to the party that wants to repeal the Civil Rights act

The craziest thing about that image, IMO, is that it is designed not to show Fox viewers how poorly Trump is doing with blacks, but rather, that, "Look how awful Hillary is! Black people love her!"

There is literally nothing he could do to turn this tide. Literally nothing. You can't run your mouth like he has for an entire year and then change gears with 3 months to go. He should just stay away. Nobody wants in the Black community wants to see his pandering and it'll just hurt him with the supporters he does have. Donald Trump coming to the Black community wouldn't be about the Black community, it would be so he could say "Hey, I met with these Black people. See! I'm not racist, independent voters."

The GOP for decades have sated their base with boilerplate social issues and dog whistle racism to distract from their shitty economic policies.

If they value conservative economic policies above all else, yet still want to reach out to a broader base, they're going to have to seriously toy with the idea of place some of the low hanging fruit they've been picking off of for years on the chopping block. Which of them is it: the gun lobby, closet racists, religious nuts, or climate deniers? These are the base they've cultivated for so long that it's become ubiquitous and cliche.

If I were a republican PR consultant in charge of rehabilitation their public image, I would seriously ask myself, which of these groups are worth holding onto going forward. For the long term viability and survival of the party, is the southern strategy really the hill worth they want to die on?

I think a better question is... How in the hell do they do that? In a large part the people active in the party are who help set the strategy. The party leadership largely did not want Trump, yet got stuck with him because the Republican primary voters wanted him.

I guess really powerful super delegates?

"He’s a billionaire and so his life doesn’t have to include black people" probably sums up the desire for the whole bootstraps thing to be true. Just think, one day you too might be so rich that you can completely exclude black people from your day to day life. Doesn't that just sound so swell, potential Trump voters?

You're totally not racist though. Y'all are alright. You just love a guy who's getting by on nothing but racist rhetoric.

I don't mind pointing out that trump ignores black centric group invitations but it is inaccurate to say he hasn't done any outreach.

We had a big discussion months ago for trump being delusional while he was courting some black religious leaders whom we viewed as crazy.

His outreach is still a joke but he has tried courting certain black people who were mostly ok with him at the time.

Who knows how they feel now.

GOP urges Trump to broaden outreach to black voters when the party itself doesn't even do it.

You can't make this shit up, folks.

EDIT: Just for those who aren't aware, that's his second wife, Marla Maples.

In 1990, he was married to Ivana, his first wife (for 13 years at that point), mother of Donald Jr, Eric and Ivanka. Marla was their mutual friend, but secretly had been Donald's mistress for the past couple of years. They were all on vacation in Aspen at the same time when Ivana figured it out, and it all blew up. Ivana and Marla had a big fight on the slopes, (verbally at least, and by some accounts physically), and shortly thereafter it was a big public scandal and the Trumps divorced a couple years later.

Then Donald married Marla less than a year after that, and they stayed married until 1999.

So the question is, why the hell does he have a laminated placemat that is a picture of Marla in the 80's? Who the hell knows.

It was from a profile piece on his campaign. He was reading an article about his own life.

Felt like this bit was getting lost in the hilarity that is the GOP's black outreach:
"He’s a billionaire and so his life doesn’t have to include black people"
That's a pretty messed up way to think.

So #blackvotesmatter means that white votes don't matter right? Where's the right wing outrage?

Wait the gop themselves sent this message...

It's almost like they are hypocrites race baiting to get the racist vote but now they are trying to get the black vote.

IIRC, the RNC that drafted their most recent platform prior to their 2016 convention included a veritble who's who of the religious right or politicians who've allowed themselves to be defined by their stances against gay and abortion rights. It's like the X-Men, but with assholes. And this shit's still going on in the year 2016. When I voted in my first election in 1992, that was supposed to be the outlier, embodied by Crossfire pundit, Pat Buchanan, but it's ever increasingly become par for the course for the GOP. But back then, all of their worst impulses were kept in check and spoken in dog whistles. That's not the case today, and the GOP has allowed itself to be defined as much for their evangelicalism as they are by their support for the gun lobby.

The republican establishment are up in arms that Donald Trump is their nominee, but what the hell did they expect? Their evangelical wing, who they've pandered to incessantly since the 1980's, seem to have made peace with it and are moving forward, so why can't they? And why are they even pretending that they're embarrassed by their base in the first place seeing as how their 2016 platform was tailor made for the sole purpose of getting them to the polls this November? This shit didn't happen over night. It's been festering for years, and now they suddenly realize what's happening before their eyes. They realize this election is less than 3 months away but they're still holding the bag of manure they've produced.

If Trump loses, the RNC will be back to square one. And they're going to have to genuflect hard about the people they're courting. There are business interests too in the GOP. At some point they're going to have to realize that god, gays, and gynecology are going to become the law of diminishing returns going forward -- maybe not in the next election cycle, but certainly by 2030.

Autopsy 2.0 needs to ask the RNC this: which of their retrograde factions need to be sent packing in order to ensure our own survival? I mean, think about the RNC's platform. Pornography is a public health issue. In 2016. Really, republicans? I don't believe for a second that most republicans in their heart respect that type of injunction. But it's something that would make an average millenial scratch their head.

Donald Trump said:
Now I promise, to all my African Americans, that if you vote for me, when I inevitably win in the hugest, most luxurious manner possible, which will happen no matter what unless Crooked Hillary rigs it, when I win I'll send every police officer in your town high quality 8x10s of every one of my African Americans who voted for me, Donald Trump, to help the police KNOW not to shoot you, that your the few good ones, not rapists or murders or drug peddlers like all those others, that you're MY African Americans, the BEST African Americans.
