I agree here. It wasn't Obama's fault, it was the media and conservatives who want to prolong this fight. I don't think I need to explain the obvious benefits of the prolonged battle for each aforementioned group.

McCain's rise in the polls is due in part to lack of scrutiny by the media, while the democrats are too busy fighting each other. Of course he will rise as a result of the democratic circular firing squad, but if anyone thinks these numbers will hold till the general are fooling themselves.

I just saw a clip with McCain rambling on about Iran training and supplying Al-Qaeda, and he then needing to be corrected by Lieberman, only to make the same mistake again. I hope my fellow Americans are smart enough to realize that the republicans are so intent on interlinking Iran, Al-Qaeda, Iraq, Saddam, 9-11, etc that they are beginning to fool themselves. McCain is banking on Americans remaining too ignorant and stupid to realize this, I hope he fails in that regard.

When the democrats stop knee-capping each other, and start pointing out the serious flaws of McCain (such as poor foreign policy expertise, and him admitting that the economy is not his strong point) and linking him to the disastrous presidency of George Bush, you will see his numbers plummet. McCain will not be the next president, he will make for a stronger opponent than I would of liked, but I just don't see Americans wanting another four years of this crap.
