unfucken believable that something someone who isnt even involved with obama's campaign, said over a year ago (or longer) has garnered much more attention than something someone said, thats very similar in context, was directly involved in hillary's campaign... and said only recently!

the fuck .. and how is he supposed deal with this? he cant fire him from his campaign.. cause he isnt even involved.

WHY IS THIS THREAD SO LARGE.

this shouldnt even be a controversy. we have known about this for over a year or more!

It as som people in this topic trying to make a big deal out of this.

Yeah "God DAMN America" You really say that about countries you love...

To not question the country you live in's actions is far more worse of a crime. Just ask the German people how they felt after WWII. This shit is scary. You can't say anything bad about the government without getting a discrediting label applied to you. That's fucking fascism. Sad thing is that it's not even coming from the government anymore. They have us pitted against each other now.

I'm assuming saying God should damn America means God should, in fact, damn America. Not, you know, bless it or something positive like that. Which is why--contrary to the America-damning, race-baiting people in this thread who actually support the idea--Obama found those remarks so disturbing he needed to canvas the country condemning them.

miketrav87 said:
:lol umm actually he was part of the campaign. But after this came out, he isn't. So you proved our point.

what did he do for the campaign?

and this came out.. oh. quite a while ago. why is it such an issue now?

answer: to deflect all the negative press about Geraldine Ferraro. maybe even validate her words in the eyes of others?

notice how the geraldine ferraro shit stopped when she left hillary's campaign. why hasnt this stopped?

Again, you find yourself quite far apart from Obama, while I'm defending him and his perspective. Maybe you need to get some. Perspective, that is.

edit: my ancestral people, from all sides, have been exposed to genocide, pillage, famine, slavery, and the worst aspects of human behavior. Speak for your own ignorance, don't presume to understand my history or my ancestry.

If somebody were to say the same things about black people, you can be dang sure they'd be branded as racist. And rightfully so.

Not if they're accurate. This tit for tat bullshit needs to stop. Not every situation can be reversed and treated the same way. This pastor had a legitimate point about the U.S., and it's not his (or Obama's) fault that it gives people the vapors. If someone had a legitimate criticism of black America, I'd be defending it as well (Bill Cosby anyone?).

what are you a teenager? white?

yeah i am sure my perspective is much better than yours in this regards as almost 30 years as a black man.

i already brought cosby up. lol

The public didn't until now so...I suppose the public thinks it's a big deal? I dunno...I guess I do too.

the public knew. obama had already issued an apology when it first came to light.

dont you find the timing of this quite suspect?

and the public doesnt control the media.

Lefty42o: I'm older than you and from what you have said here, have a broader genetic ancestry. Stop wearing your race on your sleeve, and as a divisive shield; Obama doesn't do this and you defame and demean him as a candidate and as a man, by doing so.

miketrav87 said:
If a white guy were to make the same comments as passionately and strongly as Bill Cosby about 'black America' would you support that guy?
----

why not. if he is speaking the truth.

you forget how bill clinton was black to us. you act like we hate white people and can't take criticism.

no we hate ignorance

What comments did the pastor make about white America?

Assuming he didn't drop the 'N' bomb, and showed he had an understanding of the positive elements of the black community as well, I would at least support his right to say what he said. I probably wouldn't like him as a person though.

Edit: For example, I thought what Hillary said about LBJ and MLK was pretty shitty, but I don't think she's a racist, and what she said was accurate (though shitty).

:lol

As if you know what its like to be black in america because of your families past.

Honestly, those comments don't scare me at all. Not in the historical context of what he's talking about. Which makes the contrast all the more stark. Things are MUCH better today then they were when those comments were made, and yet even those comments were not NEARLY as extreme. Kind of interesting actually, thanks for pointing that out. Heh...kinda reinforces my opinion even more.

i aint obama and you have not answered the question.

age and whats this ancestry that has given you a better perspective than me as being a black man in america?

i earned the right to wear my race on my sleeve thru my experiences growing up in this world. how many times did you get spit on cause you was black?

miketrav87 said:
So are you basically searching youtube for anything extreme MLK might have said? :lol Might have thought you could do better.

Well you don't compare a country you love to Nazi Germany do you?

They don't scare you now. They terrified white America then. Enough to kill him. Not that white America killed him, just put enough fear in the populace to scare someone into a cowardly act.

Why did your grammar change when you started talking about how self-righteously black you are?

Edit: you may not be Obama, but you say you're a part of his campaign. Your divisive rhetoric, trying to split blacks and whites, runs directly contrary to a core principle of his philosophy, and of his campaign. I think perhaps you should stop and think about what it is you actually value, on a core-principle level; I think perhaps you might find you'd prefer to find commonalities rather than sew division, but perhaps I am unfortunately quite wrong on this point.

He's pointing out how decent, patriotic people can say harsh, unpleasant things about a country without being considered Anti-American in the lens of history. You, on the other hand, are jumping from one argument to the next, searching for a way to discredit the comments of this pastor out of hand, without actually answering the substantiative retorts being presented to you.

one more time whats your skin color? so you were called a nigger and spit on?

I don't think this would, or at least should hurt Obama's campaign negatively. Unless I, once again overestimate the IQ of the average American.

So I'm wondering, are you people who are condmening Obama and making assumptions about his beliefs also condemning every single person who ever attended that church? Does that make everyone who attended that church racist/anti-white/etc? Just wondering.

Well, personally, it causes me not to support or vote for anyone who was an active member of the congregation.

*shrug* sorry if that confuses you. Again, may I ask you not derail this thread into a discussion about how awful I am for existing?

If you continue down this path, you will probably be banned. Also [spoilers]don't argue with APF[/spoilers].

for what? asking him if he has ever had to endure what its like being black in america.

than let them ban me. after some of the posts i have read in this thread the past 2 days i could care less bout gaf.

It's his MO lefty. He'll keep making you repeat yourself, say you are attacking him and spinning everything you say.

I thought muslim-gate was supposed to do that. :P
um, muslim gate is something no one can prove because he can just discredit it verbally, they have hard evidence for this claim, and to compare this to that is pretty silly knowing that this is more disastrous.
