The thing is, and I don’t know how to say this without sounding racist, but I’m going to try.

Had thier family not come to America, odds are thier bloodline wouldn’t exist. With all the genocides going on in all the countries there, they probably would have stopped existing at a great, great grandparent level if not sooner.

Thier ancestors weren’t royals or people with power, or they would have never got sold to America.

These were people with no means that were a strain on the society they lived in and so the people in power chose to migrate them elsewhere.

Now thier bloodline gets to continue on, without the threat of genocide in a first world country, while others in thier homeland suffer and continue to get exterminated at exponentially higher rates.

I get that the basis of how they got brought over wasn’t great, if given the option of tracing thier family tree and getting sent back to thier country of origin as a reparation won’t be appealing for most, but it should be what’s right.

If you missed your culture and want to reconnect with it, a flight back to your country of ancestry seems like the proper reparation to me.

I know how bad this sounds, but it covers many of the complaints and seems like the right thing to do for people that feel like they are misplaced migrants.

These are my thoughts as well.

Slavery was a bad thing to happen but good came out of it in terms of the black communities in Europe and America are far more safe than in current Africa where some live in fear.

Doesn't take away the atrocities of slavery of course (Roots is a powerful film) but some of us wouldn't be here if it didn't happen

EDIT: Now they show remorse.

Reset thread was from Sunday or prior.

@Tesseract
Nah, have you looked over there. They won’t even post this.

We need to make damn sure it's Etika first, All we know now it was a poor sould who died and the body was found in Manhattan Bridge. Anything more than this is just pure speculation even if it's high speculation.

Really sad news.

And people there were picking on him as if he was desperate seeking for attention.

Really I hope you guys feel bad about this. That attitude of yours are disgusting and you should be ashamed of yourselves for making fun of a serious illness.

I hope you find your peace.

RIP Etika.

I did not know him, but it's sad nonetheless. Suicide is never cool to hear about. :(

As someone with a mental illness, I feel hard whenever it happens to someone. It's not easy, everyday is a struggle.

But I want to know the context... he was being harassed? What was happening to him?

The old place, kitchenmotors, didn’t do this. Your place did. And I’m sure by tomorrow, the next day, maybe the one after that, you all will continue to bully people. That’s what Resetera does, from the moment they account suicided here.

ResetERA claims to support tolarence and inclusiveness. In reality, they're the most childish, condescending, and exclusionary people on the internet. Regardless, I can't say I was a fan of Ekita, but RIP man. Damn.
They enforce tolerance and inclusiveness by applying intolerance and exclusion. ERA is a place that should not be taken seriously. It's like 8chan but in purple.

They are like any human group insofar as there are ins and outs and it is ok to literally hate on the outs. It helps with group cohesion.

Someone should have archived that thread from Era where they mocked him. So, they never forget what they are truly like. Assholes.

The in-fighting had already begun, before the thread was locked. I’m guessing that the powers that be over there are hoping that some other news breaks to push this embarrassment out of short-term memory— because it’s absolutely a horrible look for the forum as a whole. “Learning your lesson” about being callous toward a person with obvious mental health challenges who has to rely on the approval of others and basically did what they begged him to do is a lesson in common decency that should have been learned years ago.

Era is desperately trying to cover their tracks.

Yep, that’s what Era does. They love covering their tracks.

He never antagonized anyone, he just spoke the truth in a respectable way and they didn't want to hear it.
Yeah, but threads like that will give them ammo. Don't even bother with it in my view. But, hey, you gotta do you and I understand it.

Plenty of reasons to do that, regardless of this incident.

I didn't like Etika much, but yeah, they jumped at the chance to kick a very wounded man while he was down, despite their purported crusade to do right by the mentally ill, a crusade which apparently is only applicable to those meeting specific criteria, ie theirs.

Resetera's position of self-appointed moral superiority is deeply-rooted in negativity, and never passes up a juicy chance to make an example of someone who doesn't toe the politically correct line.
Heh, true. I've signed off permanently now and won't be returning.
