I'm not touching this subject with a 10 foot pole. However, from the info i have uncovered through jumping through lasers at the EAD offices.

-Nintendo EAD (6 teams)

Hideki Konno, Software Development Group 1
Katsuya Eguchi, Software Development Group 2
Eiji Aonuma, Software Development Group 3
Shinya Takahashi, Software Development Group 4
Tadashi Sugiyama, Software Development Group 5
Hiroyuki Kimura, Software Development Group 6
Yoshio Sakamoto, Software Development Group 7
Takao Shimizu, Software Development Group 8

I believe there are two more as well.

Doesn't Sony Online Entertainment have a studio in San Diego? For that matter, isn't SOE part of Sony?

Also, hmm, while I'm thinking of it... 989 Sports is in San Diego... right?

Yoichi Yamada (Stage Debut) and Yoshiaki Koizumi (Super Mario Sunshine & Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat)??

Toru Osawa, Satoshi Yamato, and Yoichi Yamada are good bets for the Kyoto Office. The Tokyo office has the goal of having two seperate divisions, obviously Koizumi taking the full second team. I am not sure if the Tokyo office is ready.

There is still speculation if the Tokyo office is doing Mario (DS and Revolution).

Note: Also please note that Intelligent Systems has 3 teams. EAD has divisions, most of the divisions have 2 teams..

Most likely since we can probably assume the following are working on:

Hideki Konno: Mario Kart REV
Katsuya Eguchi: Animal Crossing REV
Eiji Aonuma: Zelda REV, Zelda DS
Shinya Takahashi: Brain Training REV
Tadashi Sugiyama: ??? Pilotwings, F Zero ??? ,<-- has worked on the series before
Hiroyuki Kimura: DS software
Yoshio Sakamoto: Wario Ware REV, maybe another title (?KId Icarus?) <-- has worked on series before
Takao Shimizu: Donkey Kong REV
Yoichi Yamada: Stage Debut REV

I beleive Koizumi is the only EAD developer with experience making a Mario game that does not have a known or rumored assigment. Then again, I thought EAD Tokyo was formed to create new content so maybe Koizumi is working on the new franchise.

Hal and the Pokemon Company should be considered first party, don't you think?

John Harker

Definitely doesn't make things up as he goes along.
Hey can you now list their biggest franchises/releases as sub-bullets beneath each development house?

Not extensive:

Hideki Konno: Yoshi's Island, All Mario Karts, Nintendogs
Katsuya Eguchi: Animal Crossing (GCN & DS)
Eiji Aonuma: All Zeldas since MM
Shinya Takahashi: Brain Trainings
Tadashi Sugiyama: Pilotwings, F Zero
Hiroyuki Kimura: Yoshi Touch N' Go, Brain Flex
Yoshio Sakamoto: All 2D Metroid, Detective Club, Kid Icarus, Wario Ware
Takao Shimizu: Donkey Kong '94, Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat
Yoichi Yamada: Zelda II, Starfox

I think it is important to separate 1st parties into internal and external categories.

Retro Studios for example would be considered external, and Intelligent Systems, internal.

Hideki Konno, Software Development Group 1
* Has confirmed both his teams are working on Revolution stuff. The Nintendogs team was experimenting with the Cooking Revolution demo. The Mario Kart team will begin working on a Revolution game as well.

Katsuya Eguchi, Software Development Group 2
* Has confirmed a Revolution project underway and another project which will definitely run under Nintendo WiFi. Eguchi has confirmed that we will see Animal Crossing Revolution although we are unsure of when.

Eiji Aonuma, Software Development Group 3
* The biggest division right now at EAD. One big team finishing up The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and another decent sized staff working on the follow-up to Four Swords Adventures on the DS.

Shinya Takahashi, Software Development Group 4
* Brain Training 3 on the DS or Revolution? Also supposedly experimenting with Brand Bros. on the Revolution.

Hiroyuki Kimura, Software Development Group 5
* New Project

Tadashi Sugiyama, Software Development Group 6
* New Project

Yoshio Sakamoto, Software Development Group 7
* Wario Ware for Revolution? Metroid Dread or Metroid 5 for Nintendo DS?

Takao Shimizu, Software Development Group 8
* Probably developing the confirmed Donkey Kong Revolution game from EAD.

There is a Stage Debut team, Pikmin team, and Mario DS/Revolution team out there as well.

Jarrod by the way.

Nintendo's has Q-Fund and Nintendo Venture Fund. Camelot Software, Skip Ltd, and Alpha Dream are listed under it and Producer Shinji Hatano (Nintendo Co.).

Would Silicon Knights fit under Microsoft second party?

No. MS is only publishing a game or two from them.

Also, can't believe I forgot about friggin Camelot!

And how many teams are in EAD Tokyo? It could be possible that they are working on Mario Revolution, since Yoshio Koizumi is in charge there (even though, Shiggy is currently director).

THE DAY MIYAMOTO DIRECTS A GAME AGAIN, I WILL EAT MY GAMECUBE.

SUPER MARIO 64 (1996) *RIP

He's "currently" the director for the game. But I'm not saying he will remain the director througout the entire project. It sounds like he's just trying to find someone at the moment.

We are not going to go through this again damnit! Miyamoto is not the director or even direct producer of Mario. I guarantee you this.

Whatever EAD SDG team is developing Super Mario DS, is guaranteed to be the same producer and development group doing Super Mario Revolution. Miyamoto already admitted he is not even managing that team.

Miyamoto and Tezuka split up IPs into different producers. Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, Yoshi, each IP belongs to one of the younger producers now.

I hate to nitpick, but Aonuma said that the DS Zelda would not be a Four Swords type of game.

Oh, yes we are, damn it!! Shiggy SPECIFICALLY stated he's currently director. I'm not saying he WILL remain the director, but according to the main man himself, he IS director at the moment. Wait here while I find the quote, k?

Success!

Miyamoto-san continued, “At this point I just don't know if we will see that game on one system or another. It is still hard for me to make that decision. I am the only director on that game right now. I have the programmers making different experiments, and when I see the results, we will make the final decision,” he concluded, which is incredible news indeed. The fact that Mario 128 still has no hardware home is perhaps illustrative of its progress to date.

Now, I think you owe me an apology, sir. :)

Now, Shikamaru Ninja is definitely more knowledgeable about Nintendo's internal workings than even my own virile self (until I catch up some day, just you wait!), but this came straight from the horse's mouth. So don't know what you can do to counter that. :)

There are actually 2 teams at Studio Liverpool (F1 team and Wipeout team) and 4 at Studio London (the 2 previous London studios plus Studio Camden and Studio Soho).

the MS list would be bigger if Ed Fries was still in charge :(

I'm glad he isn't, Shane Kim has done a great job cleaning up that mess

Update the list, Jarrod!

Also, there was an article back in E3 2004 (or during that time) when it was announced that Yoshio Koizumi was directing Mario 128 also. I wonder if that's still gonna happen.

This is from wayyyyyy back. 2004?? It wasn't even Mario Revolution then. Probably a polygon demo being worked on by 3 programmers.

Nay. It was around the time of E3 2005.

No freakin way! If you can get me a quote saying E3 2005. I will eat my GameCube! With hot sauce!!

But the point still stands. Miyamoto won't be the producer nor director of Mario Revolution nor New Super Mario Bros. DS. It will be by one of the new EAD divisions with a set producer and director.

That's EAD Tokyo (cool name, huh?). And they did Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat.

I said it was "around" the time of E3. Probably a month or so later. Remember, even after E3 we didn't know for sure if it was gonna be on GC or Rev. until Shiggy finally made the annoucement some time in the second half of last year.

But the point still stands. Miyamoto won't be the producer nor director of Mario Revolution nor New Super Mario Bros. DS. It will be by one of the new EAD divisions with a set producer and director.

I was never contending that. :)
